Friendly and very helpful staff make travelers welcome and comfortable. Lovely breakfasts and large shady terrace for relaxing. Rooms also have well furnished and spacious individual terraces. The owner will enthusiastically explain the collection of Sicilian agricultural tools, puppets, religious and cultural and artifacts, making this a very interesting place to stay. Excursions in and around the islands are facinatiing and good value.

A lovely little Hotel with very welcoming and helpful staff. Fantastic HUGE breakfast with the biggest selection of buffet style food anywhere in Sicily. The shuttle to the Port is great. Let them know you are coming and they will meet you. Brilliant.

Hotel is very well located. Virtually everything in the small town of Lipari is reachable by foot. There is a small parking lot for those few who decide to bring their rental to Lipari. While it is hard to park the car in this tiny parking lot, bringing a car to Lipari is unnecessary and sometimes prohibited (better to leave the car in Milazzo). The hotel is unique. It is decorated with tons of artifacts that the owners have been gathering for decades. The hotel is like a little museum and it is worth spending the night, just for the chance to take a look. Overall, this hotel gives an amazing impression. Service is excellent, room size is reasonable in Sicily standards, bathroom is ok. Breakfast is great, with lots of choices (even mushrooms, capers and anchovies, yumm!) and good coffee! Hotel is relatively quiet, as compared to other hotels in Sicily. The only minus we found was the uncomfortable bed. Overall, great price quality, highly recommended.

The Hotel Oriente was in an excellent location - just outside of the crazy party streets of Lipari but still quite close to the harbor and everything you need. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was extremely comfortable and quiet. The breakfast did not disappoint - I agree with all the other reviews it was fantastic. We would most definitely return to this hotel on our next visit to the Aeolian Islands.

Hotel Oriente was a brilliant place to stay in Lipari the breakfast was the best I have ever had in Italy, and the receptionists were very friendly and helpful. The decor of the public areas is unique, but overall contributed to the sense of being somewhere special. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were well looked after. With suitcases it wouild be a long walk from the ferry but the Hotel pick up and return were very well organised.

Stayed here for two nights on 8/10/09 and 9/10/09. Paid 76 Euros per room per night including breakfast. We found it difficult to choose somewhere suitable in Lipari and were unsure what to expect given limited information, but it turned out to be one of the best places of the holiday, both for the island and a fascinating hotel. We had a pleasant and quite spacious room, with an attractive tiled floor. We had our own outside terrace which was very pleasant. Compared to the lengthy staircases in most Italian cities, it was a novelty to be on the ground floor here! All the walls in the communal areas were covered with an extensive array of knickknacks. There are also extensive gardens with many plants in the middle of hotel. Breakfast was the best of this holiday. A very extensive buffet, including much fruit and cake, with good service. Very friendly owner. The hotel provides free transport from and to port, which we used when leaving; or it is a 10 to 15 minute walk. There is much to do on Lipari and the other islands, as well as relaxing in the hotel and town, so this was the one place in Sicily where we really would have like a few more days. We visited Stromboli, boat trips depart midday or early afternoon and return late evening, with or without climbing the volcano, 30 Euros at this time of year, or much more if doing the climb.

We had a really enjoyable stay at Oriente. The location is very central, only a 2/3 minute walk to the main street. The breakfast is excellent, such a wide and varied choice - youghurts, salads, bread, juices, cereals, sweet things. It was by far the best breakfast we encountered during our time in Italy. The hotel is pepperred throughout with collectibles and antiques, really interesting stuff I thought. But by far the best thing about the Oriente is the great welcome from all the staff and especially the owner Eduardo - simply fantastic, they couldn't be more helpful.

Quality accommodation for Lipari's expensive market. On day of checkout when ferries were cancelled because of the Scirocco high winds, the hotel was very helpful with our changed travel plans and need to stay an extra night. In good weather the backyard bar is great!

This place is incredible. It is full of old nick nacks collected by the owner from the island. Everything except the piano in the breakfast area. The rooms are quite good. Ours had a large balcony that provided a relaxing afternoon. There is lots of room in the outside terrace. Breakfast is good. Plenty of it. We didn't know that they would pick us up free of charge from the port. We walked - not far - just a little hard to find the street. They gave us a ride back to the port when we left. You are one block away from the pedestrian area so nice and close. The bars provide you with a snack when you purchase a drink - magnificent! The staff are friendly even those that don't speak much English.

Great location, quirky but nice decor, owner was very friendly and helpful. Shuttle to the harbor was great perk. Only negative was that the A/C in the breakfast room was not adequate given the 40 degree heat outside in mid-July.

From the moment we were collected from the ferry until we were left back we were really well looked after by the staff in Hotel Oriente. The breakfasts were the best we had in a two week holiday in Sicily, and the staff were always friendly and helpful. The Hotel public areas and dining room are a very interesting experience. I have never seen so much memorabilia/antiques in one area. We would definitely go back to this Hotel.

This place is "different". Not much to do on Lipari, beaches only, but eh don't need to go there again. Hotel Oriente has lots of old junk, crap, antiques, whatever you want to call them in the bar area. This is also the breakfast room. Jsut too much "stuff". Room was clean, spacious. Nice patio area.

Stayed 1 night (though wish we could stay at least a week) in one of the garden rooms. Garden is beautiful, room with a lovely, flowery terrace. Extremely friendly and helpful staff (we were picked up from the port). Hearty breakfast served in the eclecticaly decorated bar, in summer served in the garden. Seems very suitable for longer stays.

The garden rooms are passable. However, the rooms not in the garden are well below average. The bathrooms are full of mould, chipped tiles and are generally disgusting - and yet these rooms are the same price as the garden rooms. The towels in the bathroom were multicoloured due to bleach stains and the tiny shower had a mouldy shower curtain that would stick to the person showering. Apart from the rooms, the breakfast was very good and staff generally friendly.

I stayed at Oriente with my husband and parents to celebrate our 1st anniversary and we had a wonderful time. The staff were very helpful, the location of the hotel is perfect because it is very close to shopping/eating areas as well as the port, and the breakfast included was delicious! The rooms were a bit small and my parents' room smelled strongly of mildew, but as we weren't in the rooms much, we didn't mind! I would gladly stay at Oriente again in the future!

I was very upset about the number of ants and slugs and other insects that stayed with us in our room. The bathroom was covered with them. I was unable to get an employee to help me since there was a soccer game on and they were no where to be found. The gardens were dirty and also buggy. The website makes it sound beautiful, but it certainly is not.

The service of the staff was excellent providing much appreciated information on things to do and how to get around the island. Staff were more than willing to lug our "portable wardrobes" up to our rooms. On our departure (very very early in the morning)the staff and owner insisted that we sat down and had a proper breakfast (even though the breakfast area hadn't opened yet. They even offered to drive us to the ferry terminal (which wasn't far at all) to give us the extra time we needed to have breakfast. Rooms are clean and nice and quiet (even though we were only 50 metres from the main shopping road). Overall a very enjoyable experience. We would definitely stay again.

The quality of the service of the staff of the Oriente was excellent. We were also given good recommendations as to where to eat, which tours to take and what to see around the island. The room was very nice and was set in a really beautiful garden with the smell of jasmines all around. My stay here was quite different from the usual run of the mill hotels. Breakfast was also good and the breakfast room had a good feel to it. I would definitely strongly recommend this place to anyone.

The hotel is also a museum with lots of local artefacts standing around in the garden and in the main building which give it a warm and relaxed atmosphere. We had a room in the garden which was quiet and had a terrace to share with the room next door. The breakfast was the best we ever had in a comparable hotel with lots to choose from at the buffet. Another plus: the laundry racket every terrace is equipped with to hang your clothes outside to dry.

This was a lovely place, with staff welcoming and kind. There's only one person who spoke English there, though, and although pretty central, there's more of a walk to the hotel than to most others in Lipari. Saying that, they will offer to send round a car for you from the port if you're really loaded down with luggage. The breakfast was lovely too, with a variety of ham and cheeses as well as cereals and bread

I was very disappointed not to have been able to have breakfast in the garden as it was one of the main things that attracted me to this hotel in the first place, and it was emphasized on the website too. I would have liked to see on the website that breakfast in the garden is only available from a certain date so as to have known beforehand.
