We were first shown to the room where there was no view to the lake and no balcony, however after checking price range for our room ( we booked 4 people bedroom, but there was only 3 of us), we were offered to see 2 more rooms and those were amazing! We chose room in the building thats next to the lake, 1st floor, so you could just open the window and jump into the lake ( not in this seson tjough:)) Sound isolation is very good, room was cleaned every day, owner provided us with bus and boat schedules, breakfest waas really good! I would definitely stay there again!

Hotel Aurora is a beautiful place to stay with friendly staff and a great breakfast included with the room price. My husband and I highly recommend the risotto and perch at the Hotel Aurora restaurant. The rooms were lovely and clean and we had a great view of Lake Como and the Swiss Alps from our balcony. My only complaint is that there is little to do in Lezzeno so you need to drive or take a bus to Bellagio to do anything.

Although the rooms are little aged, they are very cleanly and nice. the breakfast was great and the staff is extremely welcoming. next time I would try the rooms in the VILLA Aurora (rather than Albergo) as they are newly built and even more near to the lake.

Wonderfully located right on the waterfront although Hotel and Restaurant are bisected by the main road. This did not cause us any problems. The owners and staff try their hardest to ensure that you have an enjoyable stay and nothing appears to be too much trouble. We had a room with magnificent views of the lake and mountains and it was wonderful to sit at our window before breakfast to take in the serenity of it all. The continental breakfast was delightful with all manner of treats to choose from. The restaurant served up wonderful pizzas and fresh, locally caught, fish dishes and had an extensive menu. The service was first class on both evenings of our stay. A wonderful experience that we would love to repeat.

I thought we had reserved a balcony room on the water but I probably mis-read the website information. We had a smaller, less expensive room with a lake view but not a balcony. The room was small but that is typical of Europe. The hotel staff were, however, superior in every way. We were delighted with the owners who operated the desk and concierge duties. They seemed to know what we needed before we even asked. They had suggestions and directions for all kinds of sights. The restaurant was along the water with a lovely view of the lake. The food was good and a few items especially pleasing. The wines available were also very good. My husband and I were both happy to have stayed at the Aurora Lezzeno.

The hotel initially was not how we pictured it. Somehow we saw it as an old world resort hotel. In fact, it is more of a charming B&B atmosphere with an excellent restaurant right on the lake with food so good that we met people that came from several of the other resorts in the Belagio area. One thing that sets the Aurora apart is there are actually piers and floats in the lake where you can swim in Lake Como. That is not the case at even the big resorts. I swam all three days we were there! Secondly, our room had french doors looking out onto the lake with a very small balcony...but also, there was a big window in the bath...when you looked in the mirror, the lake was behind you ...amazing. Best of all, the owner and all of her staff were so welcoming and cheerful and helpful. Every morning you came down she would say 'I think you should go to Lenno today, because the villa is closed tomorrow and there is a farmers market today by the waterfront. Here is the boat you take. etc....' Loved the visit! I will go back to Hotel Aurora. Without a doubt!

My wife and I stayed for four night in the latter part of May 2011. We loved everything about the hotel for what it is (small boutique hotel in a little village beside Lake Como). We loved its location, the facilities of the hotel, the quality of the food for both breakfast and dinner, and the hospitality of both management and staff could not be any better as far as we were concerned. We had dinner at the Hotel Aurora three of the four nights during our stay. Tried the second night in Bellagio (had a car) but realized we could do no better than the restaurant at Hotel Aurora. The Hotel Aurora was our fifth destination during our recent trip and we both thought it was the best overall hotel we stayed in, although the others were fine ranging in price from 125 - $250 euros per night. To add credibility to my assessment, I have been in the hospitality and tourism industry most of my life. I am also a professor at a University in Canada teaching courses in this same industry. As Italy is our favourite destination, I suspect we will re-visit the Hotel Aurora in the next several years.

We spent 3 nights at the Aurora Hotel and from the first minute we stepped into the hotel we were greeted in a very welcoming manner. As the hotel was not fully booked because it was at the end of the season we were given one of the new villas over the water. It was absolutely gorgeous and it was the highlight of our trip. The breakfast buffet was really nice and all the staff very really friendly. We ate at the hotel restaurant every night and the food was delicious and very good value. I would love to go back in the summer to take advantage of all the water activities. The hotel is only a short drive to Bellagio which is a lovely town.

Very friendly multilingual personnel. Minor drawbacks like tiny TVset under ceiling and slight smell of kitchen in the corridors should not disturb you much. Shower cabin could have been more spacious though.Picturesque surroundings and exceptional lake view out of windows. Next-door lakeside restaurant and sunbathing facilities should be particularly enjoyable during warm season. Take a car/boat trip to cosy and charming Bellagio nearby.

Lezzeno is a great place to stop on lake Como as long as you can brave the narrow roads in a car. The ferry ride to bellagio is a must, MUST do. The staff at Aurora are friendly, the breakfast buffet was great and the hotel restaurant has a view to die for and the antipasto is full of terrific local food.

My teenage daughter and I stayed 3 nights at this beautiful Hotel/Restaurant.The staff were excellent and forthcoming with helpful advice as to what to do and see around the area. The breakfast is also excellent. The hotel is on the main road so care needs to be taken when walking but 'adds' to the character of the whole area! Would love to go back!

An attractive hotel-well run family business-lots of character.Popular restaurant with great views over the lake serving good value tasty pizza and reasonably priced house wine,-(other more expensive mains were poor in quality and value I'm sorry to say- especially fish mains)and service rapid to the point of rushed which could be forgiven due to peak season and hungry diners waiting. The hotel boasts beautiful views of the lake, and is close to pretty Bellagio, thoughthere are no other bars or restaurants in walking distance, making you something of a captive in the evening if like us you wouldnt want to negotiate the narrow winding roads after dark.I dont wish to sound negative;on the plus side kayaks, bikes etc are provided and there is a sun deck (a little tightly packed high season)over the lake. All said, a special place you can feel part of and I wouldnt hesitate to recommend or return.

After arriving into Como by train I waited 1.5 hr for the C30 bus to take an hour ride to Lezzano. As it turns out the bus stop was right at the hotel and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. There was also access to the ferry within walking distance of about 10 min. The breakfast was very good and the restaurant on property was good with a grand view. Great place to stay if you want to waterski, etc. Also this is a quieter side of the lake out of the touristy pace. Only drawback was no air conditioning.

This is an excellent hotel. We received a warm welcome from every staff member we spoke to. The standard of english spoken was excellent. The room was modern and clean. It had a large, quiet ceiling fan instead of air conditioning, but we found this to be more effecting against the heat than the air conditioning in the other hotels we visited on the same holiday. The bathroom was clean and new. The shower was spacious and didn't leak water over the floor (why do so many hotel showers do this?) The hotel photos on this website are representative of our room. The hotel restaurant was excellent and we ate there every night of out three night stay. The men was extensive and reasonably priced. The restaurant was full every night so booking was necessary, however, the staff saved us a prime lakeside table every night without us requesting this. The breakfast was the best we had on our holiday in Italy. There was everyhting you could want for breakfast, including a god selection of fresh and seasonal fruit (this seemed to be lacking in most Italian hotels on our stay). The reception staff were hugely helpful and gave leaflets and recommendations. We found this overall the best by far of the five hotels we visited on our trip to Italy and would recommend it to anyone.

Really nice place, lovely helpful staff/owners restaurant on lake edge with brilliant food and views and lakeside sundeck. Parking facilities off road.

Let me start by saing that we had a great experience at Aurora and would like to return one day. We stayed here for 2 nights in May 2009. The hotel is nice, clean and family-run. Our room and bathroom were small (to be expected in Italy) but functional and clean. We had a balcony overlooking the lake with an amazing view, but the balcony was also very small (could fit just two small chairs). One thing to note is that the hotel is located across the street from the lake, not directly on the lake. The street, while not a highway by any means, is the main thoroughfare along the shore, thus lots of cars, motorcycles, and buses pass through. It wasn't a problem at night, as there was less traffic and you can't hear any noise when the windows are closed, but it did spoil our peaceful enjoyment on the balcony somewhat. That being said, this is an excellent hotel for the price, and the staff couldn't be more helpful. When we missed the ferry going across the lake, they arranged a trip to a gorgeous Villa across the lake by their private boat for us- not to be missed, we only paid 5 euro a person for the transfer. They even agreed to hold our wine and cheese in their kitchen fridge since there wasn't a fridge or minibar in the room. Their restaurant is exceptional- one of the best I visited in Italy, and we saw locals from all over the lake arrive here by private boats for dinner. The restaurant is directly on the lake and offers killer views. The hotel location is great- away from the major tourist traps yet very close to Bellagio where you can catch a ferry to anywhere else on the Lake. If you don't have a car or don't feel like driving, you can reach Bellagio quickly by very convenient public bus that stops right next to the hotel- ask the staff for bus schedules.

Our stay at Hotel Aurora was a highlight of our month-long trip to Italy. We stay 3 nights and wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel is a family business capably handled by Margherita , her husband and many others. It is a charming little hotel conveniently located a few kilometers from Bellagio. Our room was spacious and clean and had a great view on Lake Como. The breakfast room was huge and pleasantly appointed. Classical music played in the background and the breakfast selection was fantastic. There is a bar on the first floor of the hotel and a nice restaurant across the street with a spectacular view. We ate all our dinners at the restaurant as the food was excellent and the service friendly. Many locals eat at the restaurant and we felt like we were part of them. Margherita provided us with all kinds of useful information on the area. She is there morning and night to attend to everyone's needs. We would highly recommend this hotel and the Lake Como area.

This is a great bang-for-your-buck hotel in Lake Como. It is a short walk to the boat transportation in the area and local bus stops. Just a warning--it does take quite a bit of time to get from the train station in Como to the hotel (and it's a windy bus ride)--no one really speaks english there so make sure you know WHICH bus you need. Otherwise, a pleasant stay. The restaurant across the street was casual and perfect for an affordable meal.

This hotel cannot be faulted if you want a quiet holiday on the Lake. The service from Margahrita was exceptional. She spoke excellent English & provided every detail you needed for travelling around/ across the lake. The service provided by other staff except the family was efficient but not friendly. The food in the restraunt was fine, but there was no other choice in the town, unless you wanted to walk on very narrow roads which could be dangerous with cars and buses. The rooms with the balconies and lake views were fantastic. There was waterskiing available on site. Public transport was restricted on an evening so if you wanted to dine in Como or Bellagio you would need to return via a taxi which were expensive. Overall it was good value for money.

This is a great hotel in its class. We had a lakeview room which was spacious with modern bathroom. The welcome and help from the hotel was first class. The restaurant opposite owned by the hotel was fairly priced and very good with a great view.Parking is a slight problem - you leave your keys and they shuffle the cars around in the hotel bays - but best to leave the car and take the boats anyway.Lakeview rooms a little noisy from the road and locals saying goodbye in Italian style outside the restaurant.Overall a great hotel -we would use again.

First time we have been and will definitely return and strongly recommend this hotel. Marguerita, the owner, not only was excellent at corresponding prior to the stay, but was very welcoming, helpful and very friendly and pleasant, the best service we have ever experienced. Although there is not alot to do in the area, the views are spectacular, the hotel pizzeria restaurant directly opposite the hotel was great, there is a lovely sun terrace with sun loungers and it's a short drive to the beautiful town of Bellagio. Marguerita provided us with plenty of information about things to see and do and how to get there. We wished we had returned for another couple of nights at the end of our trip around Como. For a 2 star hotel, it is really lovely and should be at least 3 star. We recommend a mountain view room with balcony for only €10 per night more than the other rooms. If you request parking, there should not be a problem and it's free - best to email Marguerita before you could just in case as the car park is not very big. Fabulous hotel!!

Small family run hotel with Lake Como view or forest view rooms. Comes complete with a dock. Adjacent restaurant overlooking the lake offers a great selection on the dinner menu. We stayed at Aurora Lezzeno for one week and the weather was a bit unreliable but we were well looked after at Aurora. Our stay at this hotel met our expectations. It was very clean and the room was very small. We had a beautiful view of the lake on our little balcony. The restaurant provided a lovely candlight atmosphere at night and the breakfast in the morning have a vary wide selection of cold items. Our stay was brief but the staff was very friendly in helping us with train schedules and so forth. Would not stay there again because it took all day to get there. We had come from Rome to Varenna by train. Then we had to take a ferry to Bellagio and then a bus from Bellagio to Lezzeno where the hotel is. It's a lot of work. Next time we will just stay in Varenna - it is so beautiful there! Lezenno is pretty but there are no sidewalks and nothing to see.

This family run quaint hotel is the best. We stayed in room 3 with a balcony and could see the lake from our bed. Margherita, the owner, created an atmosphere that made us feel like family by the time we left. She is helpful in any aspect a traveler needs. Everyone who works there is beyond helpful and courteous. The room, while not fancy, was clean and extremely adequate. My husband said it had the best shower of our entire vacation. The restaurant has a wonderful, moderately priced menu. The breakfast buffet has extensive choices including the tasty hot croissants. This was my second trip to this marvellous hotel in the quiet, but beautiful spot of Lezzeno. Marghertia and the rest of the staff treat you so well and could not be more helpful. Thoroughly recommended.

Very old but charming hotel right on the main street with restaurant across the street on the beach. Somewhat noisy at night (traffic and parties). Plesant staff.

This hotel is old and shabby and right on the road. The rooms were unpleasant and there was no AC, which is impossible for this part of Italy in August. Not to be recommended.

A small, friendly hotel on the banks of Lake Como. Good restaurant serving classic Italian food, and great pizzas in the evening. Stunning views from the restaurant over the lake. Great facilities for water ski-ing and wake boarding, with a World Champion as a coach! Careful when crossing the road though! Ferry terminal about 100 yards down the road where you can take fast or slow boats to different towns and villages around the lake. Villa Balbianello worth a visit in Lenno: it's where they filmed the last scene in Casino Royale, as well as the kiss in Star Wars.

Incredible setting, extremely friendly and helpful staff. Our favorite place during a month of travel in Italy. Fantastic restaurant (makes for noise at night) and extremely relaxing. We got room with a private bath and balcony. The hosts also have apartments for rent - we would love to return!

I was a bit concerned having booked the hotel to read in a guidebook that Lezzano never got any sunshine - complete rubbish the hotel terrace & sundeck were bathed in glorious sunshine all day long. The service - particularly from Margerita - was first class. The food was excellent and the home bottled prosecco at 6 euro a bottle was quite the best I've ever tasted. The location was stunning. I will definitely go back.

A great hotel. Wonderful friendly staff who were very helpful in all aspects of our holiday. Highly recommended for those seeking a bit of peace and quiet with great food, wonderful views and an easy boat trip to the rest of Lake Como.

Margherita and the rest of her faimly could not have done anthing more to make our stay more enjoyable. Hotel was spotless, food was superb and Margherita was marvellous for advice, maps and general local knowledge. The lake view rooms were a little noisy at the weekends but the view was worth the noise.

As a solo female traveler, I was grateful that staying within a budget did NOT compromise my standards for safety and cleanliness. My single room was very comfortable in size; the bathroom had great water pressure and temperature! The hotel´s location is favorable (less than 30 seconds away from a bus stop) and the view is incredible! Margherita and Patty were extremely helpful and welcoming. I would recommend this hotel to everyone!

This hotel was in a very good location - away from main tourist areas, but still close enough to Como, Belaggio etc. Restaurant across the road serves great food and there are deck-chairs available to relax next to the lake during the day. Beautifull surroundings and very friendly welcome and great service. Will recommend this hotel to anybody.

This is a wonderful place to stay. The staff are friendly and helpful, the food is great and the location is quiet and beautiful - a great place to relax after a day exploring some of the busier places on the lake. Please do not believe those who have said you can't get about easily - Lezzeno is well served by the slower boats, the fast boats and the buses. I had a quiet room at the back of the hotel; some of my fellow guests said that the rooms at the front were noisy at the weekends due to the road outside and the restuarant over the road. This hotel represents excellent value for money and nothing is too much trouble for the staff who will help you find your way about and seem to know everyone in the area. Highly recommended.

The excellence of this hotel and its location within glorious Lake Como cannot be understated. Firstly, if you are an independent traveller arriving at Como's San Giovanni train station, you can get to the hotel for about 3 euros by using the C30 bus which is located outside the station. Tickets for the bus can be purchased at the newsagents located in the corner station, and the journey is approx. 1hr 10 mins. You recognise Lezzeno by passing an ornate cemetry on your left, then you pass through the town with a yellow & white church & tower, you see a sign for Hotel Aurora on your right-hand side & then you actually pass the hotel, but ring the bell at this point. The bus stop is a few meters away. The rooms and views are quite magnificent, so I would recommend a lake view with balcony. There is a very good restaurant affiliated with the hotel, conveniently located across the road. The menu and dishes are really good and at very reasonable prices. Lezzeno is quite unlike other towns on the lake in that it is very small and apart from the hotel, does not cater for tourists. Therefore, you can have a really quiet, relaxing time there and feel assimilated with the local Italian people. You can, of course, visit several other places around Lake Como, but I always found it so nice to return to the quiet of Lezzeno after being in the buzz of places like Bellagio and Como. You can use the boats to travel the lake. There is a ferry stop in the village, a short walk from the hotel. There is 1 slow boat pre-12 pm which goes to places along the bottom of the lake towards Como. There a several fast boats post-12 pm that take you to places to the north of the lake. Buses run about 1 per hour, so all in all, you have the ability to travel about and see the magic that is Lake Como. Margherita at the hotel, along with the rest of the family are quite superb as hosts, making you feel welcome and they help enormously with any queries. They speak excellent English.

This is a lovely old hotel in a splendid location on Lake Como. It has a small beach area with beach chairs and ample parking. It is also very close to the embarcadero making boat outings simple. We had a room with a balcony facing the lake. The balcony is small but sufficient. However, the noise from the street below is very loud during the day especially the noisy motorcycles one finds in Italy. However, the noise died down at night and closing the shutter and door certainly helped. The breakfast and restaurant are wonderful. The owner is extremely helpful and goes out of her way to ensure a good stay. We had a lovely stay at this hotel and highly recommend it especially since it is such a good value compared to other hotels on Lake Como.

Margerite has to be the friendliest, most competent owner/manager we ever met. Helpful, warm and yet professional, one couldn't ask for more. The entire hotel seems to be a family operation, but everybody was so friendly and warm that even the best trained pros couldn't have done a better job! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to come back, even though the bus connections to Como and Bellagio are not as perfect as one might believe reading the ad. The stops are indeed close, but the schedule leaves a lot to be desired, same goes for the boat connections.

The Aurora Hotel in Lezzeno was a real find! Lovely location, wonderful views from the bedrooms, a great restaurant on the waterfront and first class service from Marguerite the hostess, who even drove us to the ferry terminal. Add to this a very nice included breakfast in a large well appointed dining room plus convenient off street parking and we would not hesitate in recommending this property.

Margherita was most helpful and welcoming. Paticia went above and beyond!! When the bus failed to stop and pick us up, she personally drove us to Bellagio so we wouldn't have to wait another hour for the next bus. The staff was very gracious with attention to every detail. The food was exceptional!High praise to all!

This was a lovely family-run hotel right on the edge of the lake just a few minutes sousth of Bellagio. Two things that made it outstanding: 1) Margherite who helped us with daily travel arrangements around the lake and even into Switzerland 2) the wonderful on -site restaurant. We could eat right next to the lake, the food was very good, and the prices were reasonable. Would definitely stay there again.

We chose this hotel based on the excellent reviews posted on this web site and another. We were not disappointed. This is a wonderful place to stay on Lake Como. It's location, Lezzeno, is a short distance south of Belagio, but is not touristy. We took the train to Como and from there the C30 bus to the hotel. We were greeted by Margareta who, as described by others, was welcoming, friendly and helpful. She offered us suggestions as to where to go and what to see and provided us with directions how to get there. This is a family run hotel with everyone working together to make the guests feel at ease. The food at their restaurant was excellent. We were never disappointed. You do not need a car here. Everywhere you want to go is reachable by lake ferry or by bus. Our only regret was that we were only able to stay three nights. If we are able to make it back to Lake Como we will stay at the Aurora for at least a week. Do not hesitate to choose this hotel and meet the "famous" Margareta!

This was a small hotel with a view over Lake Como. The breakfast and food offered at the hotel restaurant were excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Although the hotel is old, it is well maintained an the facilities it offers are very good. The hotel however is located in a non-fashionable part of the lake and the village itself does not have many points of interest. You can get to Bellagio and Como by ferry although the service is not regular. The overall visit made up for this slight negative and we enjoyed our stay at the Aurora very much. I would recommend this hotel to other travellers.

Me and my wife had a wonderful stay at Aurora hotel. The staff was helpfull and nice, surroundings magnificant...it was the best part of our vacation. The only little thing I can comment was that the pillows were way too hard. If you don´t want a stiff neck - bring your own pillow along. Otherwise it was splenid. We are actually thinking of going back next summer as well.

This hotel was a little gem perched on the edge of Lake Como. The staff are very friendly and the food and service is excellent. I would recommend the rooms facing the water, though they can be a little noisy at night due to the restaurant across the road and the road itself. An added bonus with this hotel is the waterskiing school which is attached - a great buzz to water ski Lake Como (at an extra cost) Stay clear of Belagio - very over rated and the best houses and villages are down the sothern end of Lake Como just across from Lezeno. For the price, position and the service would strongly recommend.

The hotel is a great value. For a North American, the greatest challenge is navigating the road along Lake Como, and being able to read the often non-existant street signs. If driving the lake side road to Biaggio is part of your Italian dream, or nightmare, you will not be disappointed.

Great hotel with very personal approach to service. Rooms were larger than most 4-star hotels we stayed in. Getting there by car and parking in the 6-car lot caused some white knuckles, but staff was very helpful in getting us in and out.

We enjoyed a wonderful four days here. The location was convenient to the lake ferry and Bellagio, our host and her family were extremely helpful and the pizzaria on the lake side had fresh and excellent dining after a long day of touring. There was some street traffic noise but the excellent location and service outweighed any distraction from traffic. A great value in a scenic location.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Aurora. It is obvious that the Gregorio family has a lot of pride in their hotel, and they treat their guests like family. We were even greeted by Margherita as we were getting out of our car when we arrived. We were impressed right from the start. Their food is great too. It was so nice to have a restaurant on the premises. Hotel Aurora was our favorite hotel during our 2 week stay in Italy. We will definitely return again.

ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS VIEWS! Like many others who have visited this hotel on Lake Como we decided to stay there and eat because of the relaxing feeling and the wonderful view. I asked for a recommendation for dinner and was told to order the pear ravioli with cream sauce –house specialty- it was excellent as was the other food and wine. This was the first day of our trip and we flew into Milan so it was a nice stop – only 1 hour drive. Pictures on site don’t do justice to the view, clean rooms, nicely appointed.

Thank-you so very much for a wonderful time at the Aurora. The triple room we had the last night was spacious and comfortable - we loved the staff and the location was to die for. Your deck right on the lake was such a bonus and there was plenty to see and do without having to venture too far away from the hotel. If I am fortunate enough to visit Lake Como again, the Aurora will definitely be a part of my itinerary. Thanks again.....
