The hotel was very clean, bright, spacious, modern. We were completely surprised upon arrival. it looked a little different from the website pictures. The bathroom in our room was also spacious, bright, clean, etc...our balcony faced a quaint old church and hills. very peaceful. The customer service was wonderful. very helpful. The "included breakfast" was typical but great. The hotel surroundings are perfect! everything right at the hotel doorstep. Excellent seafood restaurants, sidewalk boutiques, cafes, laundry mat, bike shops, playground, and of course the wonderful beach!!! We will definitely go back to The Garden again. After spending a few days in Lido, Venice, and Verona... The Garden was pure luxury especially with regards to great value for what they provide customers. WOW!

We stayed in the hotel Garden in June 2010, the rooms were clean and spacious, and the hotel was located in an excellent position just across from the beach. While we did not have a beach view room, the room had a very pleasent outlook across the park, with a good sized balcony. The staff were friendly and helpful. Would stay here again.

We went to see the Cinque Terre, but my wife got sick and could not leave the room. The staff helped us secure a room for the second night and was extremely helpful. The rooms were spotless; the cleanest I have ever seen (and I travel for a living). Breakfast was great and the location is central, but above a noisy street, so be aware. Overall a great place to stay.

I would highly recommend staying at Levanto as opposed to any of the Cinque Terre villages as it was not as touristy and had a lovely beach (yes a beach!). The Garden hotel was great, fantastic location just back from the beach and not too far from the train station (and from there only 5 mins to Monterosso). A few comments talk about the distance from the train station, those people are lazy! It is only a 10 min walk (with luggage) and the plus side is you are right by the beach! Note the hotel is on the first floor with no lift access, however the hotel staff carried my suitcase up the stairs for me. The staff were very helpful and reccomended some good eating places (and the restaurant at the bottom of the hotel is fantastic). Would definitely come back to this location and hotel again.

We had an excellent stay for three nights in a quiet room on the first floor overlooking the gardens of surrounding properties. The hotel is located on the first floor of an apartment building so you need to carry your bags up a flight of stairs from the ground floor entrance and you also need a key for the hotel entrance door on the first floor if you return after midnight. The location is great, just across the road from the beach and adjacent a well kept park, but a reasonable walk of about 15 minutes from the railway station. Reception staff were helpful when we reported that the air conditioning didn't appear to be working and although this wasn't fixed on the day as it was a public holiday we appreciated that they did make an effort. Our room had french doors to a balcony so air conditioning wasn't a problem with the good weather we were having. We found the Garden to be a very good base for visiting the Cinque Terre.

We spent 8 nights at the Garden Hotel whilst walking in the Cinque Terre. We couldn't have been happier with the location, service, & friendliness of the staff. They even provided us with a packed breakfast on our last day as our train left at 7am. Free Internet was a great bonus. Staff recommended some excellent restaurants, & walks other than in the Cinque Terre during the busy May Day holiday weekend. Was a relief to return to Levanto after spending days in the busy, touristy "5 towns".

Very friendly, helpful staff. Lovely, quiet room right on the seafront and around the corner from multiple restaurants & cafes. Good breakfast, with a highchair! The only possible downside is that the parking is a 15min walk away from the hotel. Similar length walk to the train station to get the train to 5 Terre villages.

Sweet little hotel. Room was very nice and very clean, my #1 priority. Pleasant balcony to watch the street traffic. Fine breakfast. Good value. Be aware you have two flights of stairs to negotiate with your luggage. Staff was pleasant once engaged but basically ignored you unless you spoke to them first. Kind of odd but seemed that way throughout the whole town.

The hotel was clean and updated. The location was very close to the beach, but a 15 minute walk uphill from the train station. I would have preferred to stay closer to the station as we visited the town during off-season when the ferries were not running. Additionally, our room was located right next to the entrance, Front Desk, and Breakfast. Our particular room was very loud in the morning.

We stayed in Levanto as our base for the Cinque Terra and it proved to be adequate, being close to the 5 villages as well as a short train trip to Portofino, etc. In October, there was not much of interest in Levanto itself. The Hotel Garden was clean and comfortable, with good sized rooms, a good breakfast and a free internet PC. The staff responded to our questions but did not provide any extra advice.

We stayed here to visit Cinque Terre (surprise!). The Garden was good for this purpose (~ a 10 minute brisk walk to the train station). The room was was not spacious but it did have a patio, which was nice. Our room (all rooms?) are on the second floor and the patio allowed a small sea view above the elevated road. Room was quite clean. Towels were provided and seemed fine (we had our own). _Noise_ was our only real concern. Mostly it was from some loud patrons at the restaurant immediately below our room. There was also some minor/ moderate pedestrian noise. Nothing serious and the drop-down patio door eliminated much of this noise. _Breakfast_ was good and included meat (no eggs), baked goods, coffee/ tea, some fruit, yogurt, etc. (the clientele seemed mostly German and the breakfast seemed geared to their tastes). _Staff_ were friendly and helpful. We believe the front desk was staffed until midnight. _Wireless internet_ was available and worked well. There was also a public computer terminal for use by those without a laptop. There is a multi-lingual (Euro languages only) _library_ that emphasized travel information.

This is a great little hotel which is highly recommended. We received an excellent and friendly welcome, and throughout our stay the staff were very helpful (they helped us when we needed a corkscrew, and one of the ladies even stopped on her way home to help me find the car park when she saw I was confused). The room was great, modern, clean, spacious and fresh and was equipped with tea/coffee-making facilities. We had a large balcony with sun loungers and chairs and we were very lucky to have a view to both the sea and the hills (although we know that not all the rooms have such great views). The hotel is situated right next to the beach and is close to all the local facilities and the delightful old town. We cannot recommend this hotel enough and will be sure to go back again

Our overall stay was superb. The hotel location is it's prime attraction - just perfect(being steps away from both the wonderful beach and the central village park)and well worth the walk up to the railway station. Staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The only negative comment is that each morning we were woken by the scraping of chairs on the marble floor by early breakfasters. The room was spacious although simply furnished, bed was large, and there was a beer fridge (most welcome for chilling soft drinks from the handy supermarket). Would highly recommend this hotel for it's price bracket.

Five weeks in Europe and this was quite the nicest boutique hotel we stayed in anywhere. A quiet spacious room with generous ensuite. Exceptional staff and free internet provided. We stayed in Levanto while we visited Cinque Terre and we were very pleased that we did. The hotel was an easy walk from the train station and easy to locate from the maps at the station. We had a great balcony on the back of the hotel and shared the wonderful view of the sunset from the balcony in the common area. We weren't able to walk from Levanto to Montorossa al Mare but will just have to return to enjoy it. Levanto is a beautiful town and a great find. The hotel staff couldn't have been more helpful.

The Garden has been recently renovated and is a fresh, bright property. I had a room with a double bed and ensuite bathroom which was spotless and bigger than most bathrooms you get in European hotels (good shower!). The room was spotless and was cleaned everyday. The staff were very helpful and the hotel has a computer with internet access in the lobby for guests to use which was very convenient. Breakfast was more than adequate and offered in a sunny room off the lobby. The train station is an easy 10 minute walk from the hotel. Levanto is very convenient to the Cinque Terre, as well as Santa Margherita, Porto Venere and Portofino, and itself has a nice beach (across the road from the hotel) and numerous restaurants and shops. There is a supermarket and self-service laundry close to the hotel.

We couldn't have been happier with our accommodations at Hotel Garden in Levanto. The location of the hotel is excellent, you're right in the middle of everything. It's close to restaurants, shops, farmacias, groceries, rail station, beach, park, churches. The hotel is a perfect location for visiting the Cinque Terre since you can either take the train (reachable by foot in less than 10 minutes) or a boat (dock is less than 5 minutes from the hotel). For travelers worried about cleanliness, this is the hotel for you. It is spotless with a wonderful housekeeping staff. The Hotel Garden is a bed and breakfast and the breakfast is very good, featuring fresh pastries, coffee, juice, cold cuts, yogurt, cereal, etc. On top of the foregoing, the staff was simply excellent. They all spoke good English and knew the answers to about every question we could think of, particularly about doing the various Cinque Terre hikes. The prices for rooms were great, especially in view of the rapidly falling dollar against the euro. We would absolutely stay here again.

Very beautiful place inside. From the outside not too pretty. Very friendly staff. Car park is about 10 minutes walk away, close to the station. The room we stayed in had a double bed with one bed cover for both such as is usual in the UK. I prefer one duvet per person, so would have brought a sleeping bag for myself. Otherwise a fantastic place to stay, very close to the sea side. I would stay there again.

The hotel is quite nice and in a very convenient location, across the street from the beach and 10 minutes from the train station. The room was excellent, as was the breakfast. Service people were very helpful with travel arrangements. Our only concern was with street noise on Friday night. The hotel is near an open square, and there was a loud party going on until 2:00 in the morning. For some reason, the church bells also rang every fifteen minutes throughout the night.

This is a nice hotel - it suffers from two facts: reception is on first (European) floor and one has to drag luggage up two long set of stairs; the other is parking - which is about 1 mile away in an open lot with no apparent protection (one has to walk back after parking the car). Nevertheless, the room was very nice and the staff was very helpful at all times. We would stay at the hotel with less luggage when we come back since loved Cinque Terre.

We loved everything about the Hotel Garden! A group of six of us (2 married couples, 2 singles) blew into town with all sorts of luggage and energy and questions. The staff at Hotel Garden were fabulous, especially David. He was so gracious, helping us with our luggage, fielding multiple questions at a time...very classy. And the hotel itself is lovely! Clean, modern rooms with balconies, terrific bathroom and shower, a very nice common area (and free internet, nice touch!), wonderful location right by the beach and the downtown area, and a very nice breakfast. Even the breakfast room was cheery and filled with colorful art. We would definitely return here. Two things that other travelers might need to know: There's no elevator (although David and other staff insist on lugging all the luggage up and down), and if you're traveling by train, it's a bit of a walk (maybe 10-15 minutes?) from the train station. These should not deter you from staying at this lovely spot though. Our group stayed in 7 hotels in Italy in a 2-week timeframe. This was one of the nicest and best value we found!

We were very impressed by the Garden Hotel. Nice security system when you enter hotel. Room was very clean and the bathroom was the largest we had on our trip. Other then that it was great and we would stay there again.

I was totally blown away by everything about The Garden Hotel in Levanto. It was clean, fresh, modern, I had a VERY warm welcome from the staff, the location was ideal: right in the heart of the shopping/restaurant strips, short stroll to the beach and easy 10 minute walk to the Station. The town of levanto itself was a very pleasant surprise too. It really is the 'Gateway to the Cinque Terre' and was easy to get around the five villages. This hotel was fantastic. The room was very clean and very big. This hotel is definitely more than a 2 star. It was better than all the 3 stars we've stayed in Europe so far. We asked the owner about the rating of the hotel as we could not understand why it was only a 2 star. He told us that it was due to the fact that they are sharing the building entrance with a few other private tenants. The location was perfect...a few minutes walk to the beautiful beach of Levanto. The Garden is about a 10-15 minute walk from the train station (but don't try it with lots of luggage) and less than 1/2 block from the beach. Our room was spacious, clean, and well lit. Room rate includes a more-than-adequate breakfast. Free Internet access was an unexpected bonus. We had a balcony, but it did not look provide a view of anything we wanted to look at. The only (minor)drawback was street noise, but that ended somewhere between 10 and 10:30 pm. Staff are pleasant and helpful. There is a small library of travel guides (on Italy, of course) and books visitors have left behind. It rained two evenings, so the hotel umbrellas available for guest use were a welcome benefit. We'd stay here again and recommend it to anyone wanting stay near, but not it, the Cinque Terra.

The map to locate this hotel could be improved but fortunately Levanto is a small town so it didn't take long to stumble across the hotel. It is located a half a block away from the Ligerian Sea coast and next door to what appears will be a nice park (it was under construction when we were there). The lobby is located 1 flight up but does not have a lift. The staff was pleasant and helpful, the rooms clean, free internet, and a varied continental breakfast. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

The room was clean and adequately appointed. The shower was superb, with very hot water and a strong flow. The hotel provides free parking but it is a 10 minute walk--that was not a problem for us as the walk takes you through the center of the town. The location is wonderful, right across the street from the sea and close to the heart of the town. It is difficult to find the hotel, but worth the difficulty. The hotel lobby is on the first floor and there is no lift but the friendly staff will help with luggage. Breakfast is provided and was fine. Internet access is free in the lobby. We would stay there again.

The staff was welcoming and very helpful, the room was quite large (as well as the shower) especially compared to the other hotels we stayed in during our trip, and everything felt clean and updated. I would definitely stay at the Garden again.

We had a wonderful experience at the Hotel Garden! The staff is very helpful and speaks excellent English. The breakfasts are substantial and the rooms are very clean. The litte refridgerator in the room is handy. We would recommend to those visiting Le Cinque Terre to consider staying in Levanto instead of one of the five towns. It is just a quick boat/train ride to Le Cinque Terre, and much less crowded....even in October. We'd definitely return to the Hotel Garden.

Make your reservation early. This is one of the best deals in town. We tried to book one month later after our first stay and they were booked up.

The hotel was very close to the sea and many rooms had a good view. Off site parking was included in rate, the only negative was thast there was no elevator but it was just one floor up. I chose Levanto as a good jumping off place to Cinque Terre and it proved to be very satisfactory. Our stay was delightful, we had good food and an overall good time.

We enjoyed our stay at the Garden Hotel. The hotel is located on a busy, colorful street with lots of pedestrian traffic and nearby shopping and dining. The room was quiet at night and we had no problems sleeping. The room appeared to be recently remodeled with nice furnishings and the best hair dryer we had on our trip. This was the lowest price lodging we had on our three week trip to Italy but it was very good value and quality. The staff is friendly, was able to answer our dining and sightseeing questions and the breakfast buffet was plentiful and delicious. I would stay here again if I return to Levanto.

The Garden Hotel was a wonderful find. The room itself was spacious and the bathroom was also spacious and modern. It was one of the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed in, even cleaner than some expensive high-end U.S. hotels I have stayed in while traveling for business. The staff was warm and welcoming. Their English fluency varied. Each was kind and receptive towards my attempts at Italian. They were also welcoming of our four year old daughter. The breakfast went beyond rolls and coffee to include cereals, yogurt and meats and cheeses. The breakfast room was pleasant and airy and again very clean! The location was convenient to the beach, shops and restaurants. The train station was a 15 minute walk on sidewalks. Levanto itself was pleasant with as many Italian families on holiday as other visitors. Overall, I felt we were visiting a seaside tourist destination, but I did not feel as overwhelmed with non-Italian tourists as we felt when we ventured into the Cinque Terre proper. The only negatives I saw were that the free parking was in a lot near the train station, so a bit of a hike when traveling with a child, and the downstairs entrance that the hotel shares with others needs to be spruced up to match the upstairs lobby of the hotel. Oeverall, the Garden felt like a three star hotel (I believe the lack of elevator accounts for the 2 star rating). I would gladly stay there again.

Good breakfast. A long hike from the train station. Better map would be helpful. Cinque Terre was beautiful and Levanto was close enough for easiy access.

Our stay at the Garden exceeded our expectations. I am not sure why this hotel is rated with 2 stars, but it was superior to other 3 star hotels we stayed in. Great staff, eager to please. I would stay at the Garden again.

The initial impression on seeing the unimposing street entrance and the lack of any lift (elevator) to the hotel was not favourable however that was soon replaced by a complete turn around to great delight on seeing our very modern and spacious room and the wonderfully modern and functional bathroom. The staff were ever friendly and courteous and always ready to help. Breakfast was plentiful and enjoyable and the free use of the internet was a major plus. The hotel was well located to take advantage of restaraunts and local attractions. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel to our friends and would return ourselves.

Friendly staff, clean rooms, good breakfast & free internet access. Some noise at night from road at front of hotel (people, not cars). Overall, good value for money.

This hotel was a real 'find' for us, and we'd stay there again. Spotless rooms, friendly, helful stay and good value. If you're driving be warned that it's not that easy to locate when you first arrive in the town, but it's certainly right in the centre of things.

If you get a room with a balcony to the Mediterranean, you can wake up with the sounds of waves crashing. Very clean, a bargain for the price and fantastic location.

We drove in. The signs were great until the end, not too easy, no parking nearby, but great location to the boats to Cinqua Terra. The rooms were great, wonderful breakfast, nice staff and free internet! I would definately stay here again!

We stayed in Livanto b'cos we did not tried the expensive options on Cinque Terre Hotel. And after staying in Garden we felt it was good choice. Room was nice and the whole hotel was recently renovated in a whole it was great stay. Room was clean and new linen and breakfast was good compared to other Italian hotel we stayed in other places. But the map on the web site not very helpful for the first time so we took TAXI from station for €8 which was quick and easy.

Actually, I did not think the photos on the webpage gave The Garden any Justice. My wife and I thought the accomadations were wonderful and considering the price - The Garden was one of the best hotels we've stayed at in Europe. It was extremely clean, spacious, and well kept. The staff was so friendly. The location was right in the heart of downtown, yet we never had any noise problems. Free parking, free breakfast, and lots of free advice.
