Hotel du Marche - Lausanne

Okay rooms, but no information beforehand on single rooms available, though I travelled alone. All kind of people, youngsters, elderly

The hotel is in the city center but in a quite place. The ratio price/quality is very high. I really recommend Hotel du Marche.

The staff was excellent, kind, helpful and knowledgeable. The room was spotless. Small bathroom, but no problem. Nice large thick towels. English speaking channels, tea/coffee in room. It was a wonderful stay.

Suggest obtaining clear directions as a little difficult to find. This was the only hotel stay we had which provided a room kettle etc & a refridgerator. Shared bathroom facilities. Stay was quite adequate.

The bed was very comfortable. It was in the middle of de city, easy to go walking to the center. My experience was good.

I was shocked at the fact that their office is closed during the night; from 22:00 to 7:30 Hrs. and NO PHONE in the rooms. I realize that most people today have a cell phone with them. BUT if a tourist is visiting from another continent they very likely do not have their cell phone with them. I did not. It really made me and my granddaughter uneasy staying there. I would not stay there again.

It is overpriced. We showed up at 11pm and had difficulty getting the caretaker/manager to open the doors for us. Helpful with holding the baggage after checkout for the day.

The hotel was comfortable, but the bathroom was extremely small, uncomfortably so. Breakfast was adequate and the hotel had a family feel. Lausanne itself, had little to offer for anyone wishing to experience what I had hoped Switzerland would he. It was hazy and you could see no further than 50mtrs across the lake. Also extremely hilly.

Nice enough hotel, good value for money, breakfast fine, access not too good - up a couple of flights of steps -not easy at my age with a suitcase !

Not far from the city. Big room, quiet and clean.

A little far from the train station. You have to take a bus to the outskirts of the centre-ville and then walk for about 5-10 mins. We had heavy backpacks so this was a little frustrating. Other than this, we enjoyed our stay here and felt that the rooms were some of the nicest we stayed in during our 3 week vacation across Europe. The quality of the bathroom and shower (which we shared with the rest of the floor) were excellent, although small. The room itself was very nice and clean with a sink and television included. The neighborhood is very quiet, as was the hotel. The only other problem was the absence of staff members the morning of checkout. They require that you check yourself out. We were going to ask to leave our packs somewhere in the hotel so we could explore Lausanne that morning, but there was no one around! Finally, we felt that it was a little expensive,t but that is the unfortunate result of traveling in Switzerland.

My only comment is that we left a jacket behind. I emailed the hotel at the venere email address, hoteldumarche@venere.com, but no one has responded. The email was sent Monday May 19, it is now Tuesday May 27.

Basic but clean and good value, good sized room with coffee-making facility.
