Hôtel Résidence du Boulevard - Lausanne

No staff at hotel has a reception in another hotel. Power went out in our room and we had to shift. Hard to speak to person at reception.Close to train station and food places.

If you come prepared to the fact you are not going to find a staf (it's all electronic, but very easy to manage) its a great place to stay for such a price. the cleanness of the room is not 100% but enough if you are not very obbsessive about that.

This was a great hotel, reasonably priced and in a fantastic location. The staff were helpful and overall it was a good experience. The only negative was that it was very very loud, particularly on weekends, as the street on which it is located is bustling until the early hours of the morning.

I don't really like the idea that we can't communicate with the receptionist of the hotel face to face. We were impressed with the system used by the hotel, i.e. called us and instructed us over the phone to retrieve the keys from lockers. However, for visitors like us, who are looking forward to understand what to see and do in Lausanne..was immediately cool off by need to call number 11 to obtain any information. With the price we paid, we expected a better service.

This first experience of an automatic, unmanned hotel was a bit strange. The system actually worked quite well and we found our way to our room without any difficulty. As strangers to the locality we missed the ability to seek advice from the staff. One must recognise, however, that the saving that is made by not having staff on site adds significantly to the value for money that can be offered; to offset this, the security of the building is entirely dependent on the concientiousness of guests and there were occasions when the outside door was left open. The hotel is conveniently located near the railway station but this, togehter with the adjacent main roads, inevitably results in a certain amount of noise - a fact that was not helped by visiting during the Euro 2008 football competition. Overall we had a pleasant stay without any problems.

The venere site stated that there was free parking, but there isn't any parking available at this hotel. Keep in mind that parking in the public garage is 21 swiss francs per night. Also, there isn't a front desk, which can be a bit strange, but ultimatley isn't a problem.

The room was really very spacious, clean and well equipped (incl. kitchenet). There is no reception and no restaurant. The hotel is fully and very well electronically managed. A nice restaurant is situated across the road for lunch and dinner (Italian cuisine) where breaktfast can also be taken.
