Hotel AlaGare - Lausanne

Hotel AlaGare is in a very good location close to the railway station and convenient to other forms of transport such as the metro lines. The hotel itself is situated on a quiet street and there is no noise disturbances from the trains, station etc. The hotel is clean, well presented and the rooms are of adequate size. The bathrooms, although small, provide everything necessary. The service is good, the rooms were cleaned every day and the breakfast is also vey good. Overall, I found this hotel to be a very good place to stay and I would recommend it.

Really lovely to stay in a clean, three-star place after two days in a grubbier venue. Stayed in a single room: nice decor (framed train print on wall, red and green tassels to indicate "do not disturb" vs. "please clean room"), in-room kettle with tea and instant coffee; clean sheets; sit-down niche in shower. Receptionist I dealt with most seemed exceedingly stressed; received mixed signals re whether to leave key and when to buzz self in (apparently leaving the key is optional, and you HAVE to take it with you if you plan to return after 10:30 pm), and had to prompt receptionist to provide transport card and WiFi password, but competent in general. Breakfast staff very pleasant -- brings individual carafes of coffee to your table; good selection of fruit, meat, cheese, breads, and yogurt. First try to find hotel from Gare Lausanne was a mess -- signage to Rue Simplon non-existent -- but once you recognize it's down an escalator and hill, it's simple to find, and it's within a few minutes of both the Gare and Grancy metro stops. Friendly attitude and good food at Cafe du Simplon just down the street; many locals at Cafe Grancy near the Grancy stop.

The room was tidy and clean, but so small I had to get out to the corridor to even just change my mind. Night trains were apparently passing by directly under my pillow. For about one third of the seats, the sloping roof in the breakfast room on the top floor forced my head down into the cereal bowl, another third of the seats forced my neck one way for the same reason (which however compensated for the rock-hard mattress that had forced it the other way), and the rest of the seats are roughly normal. The breakfast waitresses were friendly and the coffee strong and hot, as were the wordings of one particular receptionist when kindly asked a simple question.

Our twin room was immaculate and the hotel was very Swiss - very organized and up-to-date. Having just been to Italy, Hotel AlaGare was a different experience, run like a Swiss watch. The location is perfect!

The Hotel is well located for transit as near the train station and center of town, and generally quiet. Good included breakfast. Prices in Switzerland are ridiculous (expensive) so this place, with small rooms, weak air con,seems poor value, but was best we could find in Lausanne. The double bed was a bit droopy.

It was convenient to leave our luggage at the hotel before and after check out. Very convenient to the railway.

Hotel Alagare is very near the train station, but the street is dark at night. From the station take several flights of stairs down and across the tracks, then turn left.

Hotel manager attempted to sell us three rooms when we needed two. He was very stubborn. We have two children and needed only two rooms and he nearly forced us to buy three rooms...and one on a different floor. He should be fired. He was most rude.

Very Clean ,very spacious rooms ,reception service was horrible ,breakfast was very good (Service Excellent),absolutely not for sightseeing,you have a view on the street or the parking...Good for one night at the most..By foot from the Gare .Would I go back? No.

Nice hotel in a good location. Rooms are small but there is everything you need except a fridge.

A tiny modest little hotel, located jus a few steps from the rail station, not that comfy, but it's worth the price. Warm melcoming, clean bedsheets and bathroom on a little space. Tiny elevator for 2 persons, but, instead of a problem, this may be a solution for people with bigger luggage. VERY near the subway station and thus, most of the major city attractions, If you're not so demanding, looking for a quiet and clean space to shower and sleep, this is the place. Want luxury and pampering? Go somewhere else.

A pleasant, economical hotel. More than adequate for a couple of night's stay

So easy to access from train station...down escalator and along street. Free access to the internet was greatly appreciated. The staff on the front desk and in the restaurant next door were friendly and very helpful. I would stay here again.

I was in Lausanne for one night. Perfect location near to the center and rail station. Quiet area. Nice restaurant in the roof.

Very convenient for Lausanne railway station. A minotel, so rooms like shoeboxes and no soundproofing. Free internet access, though, with PC in foyer. Friendly and helpful staff. The photograph on the website is misleading.

Very helpful staff but the room was tiny and the bathroom so small that one could barely fit in it.
