VERY PLEASANT & HOTEL STAFF GOOD. THE COST OF THE TAXI FROM BERGAMO AIRPORT WHICH IS ABOUT 10-15 MINUTES AWAY IS A RIP-OFF; WE WERE CHARGED 25 EUROS!

very welcoming and kind staff, excellent breakfast. we were expecting a family room in the hotel, instead we stayed in an appartment owned by the hotel (and behind the hotel), huge and nice appartment. But unfortunately we were disturbed by the noises of the neighbours that were living in the building. by the way, if you have a car, the hotel is very close to Bergamo city.

We spent only one night in this hotel. It was ok, but nothing special. Also they gave as appartments, that was really look different from the site's picture. It's 15 min (by car) from the airport. So if you are going to the airoport in the morning, it's a good choice.

The hotel was ideal for our purpose (ie post-arrival at Bergamo airport). The staff were more than helpful, the room was large, clean and comfortable, and the value was excellent. The surrounding area left a little to be desired, but this was fine for a transit hotel. The noise of the roads, and the paucity of the breakfast towards the end of the period were the only criticisms of the hotel. Great value for money though, and a recommendation if a simple overnight is required.

In my opinion, I would not say this is a 4 stars hotel. It is too expensive for what it offers, or at least what we found. We are a young couple and just needed a place for one night near Bergamo because we were taking a flight back home from holidays next day. We paid 90€ for a very simple, old looking, dark double room. Just for one night, ok, but I would not like to be there alone for work just one night. The surroundings are a horror, I mean, it is situated in an industrial area, not a place to have a walk or see something, there is just a bar-restaurant (MOE's) (was good there) and a not so good looking chinese restaurant around the hotel. The night we were there, the restaurant of the hotel was closed. I would not go back, not even for work (the feeling of traveling alone is already sad enough sometimes; there, I think it is worse).

Tea and coffee making facilities were not available in any room. We had a party of 14 and none of the rooms had this facility despite this facility being advertised. When thsi was pointed out to the hotel staff, they didnt understand what it was that we required. Also check out times stated 12.00, hotel got rather annoyed as check out times are in fact 10.30, not as advertised. Apart from the miserable staff on reception, the cleaners most polite and courteous. I do like to get what I expect or at least get put right whatever it is that isnt!

A good hotel, for a good price. A bit difficult to find, especially when coming from the airport (Orio al Serio) at night. from the outside the sign of the restaurant "Il teatro" is much more visible than the sign of the hotel itself! Above average price/quality level. Location is good - within 10 minutes in the heart of Bergamo by car. So all in all a very good place to stay for a few nights...but be prepared for a hard time trying to find the hotel at night or in the dark, as there are few and poorly visible signs!

We really enjoyed our overnight stay. Our only problem was finding the hotel from the airport. The on-line directions named streets and roads which were imossible for a first-time visitor to identify, while driving on strange roads at Italian speeds!! If in the area, we would certainly use this hotel again.

I liked the idea of having an apartment to accommodate my family, but was not expecting it to be in a resident block outwith the main hotel. It had to be accessed externally, and the stairwell leading to the apartment seemed to be suffering from one of the neighbour's dog's toilet habits. Sleeping turned out to be very difficult indeed. We were wakened twice by a car with an incredibly loud soundsystem, and our upstairs neghbour spent half the night moving furniture. It was so loud, I got out of bed to make sure he wasn't in our apartment! Don't eat in the hotel dining room - the food is very poor and expensive. Will we go back? Definitely not - did not represent value for money at all.

It is probably not fair for me to review this venue since we stayed on the 1st of January. It would have helped if at the time of booking it had been made clear that the kitchens would be closed,no room service or food available and only a skeleton staff on duty. That said staff were courteous and it wasn't their fault that the nearest open restaurant was a MacDonalds 3 km away.

this hotel is a very nice place to stay because you have great quality of service, space, clean rooms, and it's on the main road from the highway (exit Dalmine) and Bergamo. The breakfast is a bit poor but you can buy food or have meals all around the hotel as it is a sort of "activity zone" with bakery, gelateria, restaurants. The direct surroundings of the hotel are not beautiful but it's ok for a short stay. Not expensive Internet at the reception.

Very good hotel, the only problem being that it not that easy to locate in Bergamo and the information on Venere website as to its location should definitely be made more accurate. Dear sirs, we would like to inform you, that the service in the a.m. hotel do not correspond to the 4 stars. The service at the breakfast ist very unkindly and you have to ask serveral times to ask for further servises. Furthermore we claimed the loss of 2 small toys (animals) which disappeared after cleaning the room. The reception was not able to inform us immediately but promissed us to inform us by fax or email about their investigation. We are not very surprised not to hear nothing up til now. After all we suggest you to remove this hotel from your list in order to avoid further claims. Nevertheless - due to the point that we are serveral times in Mailand a year - we would appreciate to hear from you. best regards CASA delle scarpe CD.Muhs

The hotel room was clean, comfortable and spacious. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast supplied was fine but the dining area a little cramped. My only major problem was that I had great difficuty in locating the hotel. I drove by it a number of times but the prominence given to the name of the Restaurant on the Sign erected outside the hotel in large writing above the name of the hotel in much smaller writing meant that I did not see the name of the hotel. I would really have appreciated tea-making facilities in the bedroom of a four star hotel. I had this facility in the Crowne Plaza in Milan where I stayed the previous 2 nights at a comparable price.

This hotel is an ideal the-night-before-you-fly location as it is located very near to the Orio al Serio airport (taxi costs about 15 euro). Service is perfect, the only minus is: the surroundings are very dull. But, it's only 20 minutes by bus to Bergamo centre so even that is an option!

Four Stars? I don't think so. Restuarant closed so, being somewhat isolated, we had to drive to the nearest, reasonable restuarant. Breakfast too was very poor, unless you like stale bread rolls. We were given an apartment in an adjoining building as we had reserved a four bedded suite. This was actually pretty good. Even though the air con couldn't quite cope, the room was spacious, with seperate bedroom and a good sized bathroom and power shower. Would I go there again? Not if I could find a suitable alternative.

The stay was without surprises: from Sat to Sun with a complete breakfast on Sun before 07:00 in the morning. We told them, that we would have to be early at the airport - so they offered the breakfast even 10 minutes earlier. The price through venere.com was Euro 85,00 - in our room was a pricelist - normally they offer the same room for Euro 180,00!!! Nice, large and clean room with excellent beds, minibar, Sat-TV and a large bathroom. The only thing is to find the place "LALLIO" - that can be a bit difficult, especially at night. I looked into a map on www.multimap.com that helped very much - even with the coordinates for my simple GPS provided! We would stay there again but don't take an expensive taxi: we rented the smallest car, HERTZ could give us at the airport for two days for EURO 82,00 ("World on wheels") - that is cheaper than taking a taxi for three rides in the Bergamo-area! The last thing: at the reception they hadn't a street-map from Bergamo and the surroundings...

The hotel is more of a business hotel than a tourist hotel but it is modern, clean and well laid out. The problem is its location. If you do not have your own vehicle the cost of taxi fares to and from, average €15 each way to Bergamo can build up, particularly if you want to return to the hotel before you go out again in the evening. We did not have an evening meal at the hotel because we wanted to enjoy the restaurants in Bergamo Alta, but it did not appear to be cheap.

Not quite what you'd expect from 4* but you always get what you pay for and with that in mind it was great value for money. Reception staff were friendly and imformative. we had reserved a wheelchair accessible room for a few nights. on arrival the room had twin beds instead of a double that was booked, not much of a problem, so we took it. however on entrance to the room my wheelchair could not even get into the room by bedside, just the bathroom. our room got exchanged for a bigger room so i could at least get into a bed, but there was no disabled bathroom available. its no good having a wheelchair accessible bathroom, when a wheelchair will not fit into the bedroom. the staff were very pleasant and friendly, and the hotel was very clean. the location of the hotel needs a hire car to appreciate the area. we used it as a base for the superbike round at monza, about 40 mins away (easy access to autoroute) but also travelled upto a couple of lakes which were in easy reach.

the only real dissapointment with this hotel was where it was situated. from what we had learned of it on the net we thought it was closer to milano. it would have probably been worth paying extra for a hotel in the centre of the city because of the amount you end up spending on travel while you are over there

Hotel was new, modern and well equipped. Staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant offered reasonably priced and good food. It suited us well as a stop off point, but would not be so convenient if you wished to see lots of Bergamo as it is located outsided the town in an industrial estate.

We just stayed one night, arriving late an leaving early. We did not have enough opportunity to experience the service level but we surely can recommend Donizetti.

no charm at all, but very confortable. in the suburb (not the pretty one) it looks more like a business hotel than a tourist one. but the people there were very nice & helpful.

The Donizetti was a excellent facility. The front desk staff was most gracious and helpful. We stayed three nights. The breakfast was good but the same each morning. The Donizetti should place direction signs to the hotel as soon as you exit the autostrada.

Very good price/quality ratio! Hotel is located in a suburb of bergamo, it takes about 10 mins with the bus (#15a/b i think) to get to the city centre and cost about 1 €. Very easy!

I was expecting a hotel in / in the immediate proximity of Bergamo. However, I found that the hotel was far away from Bergamo and quite remote form anything of interest, like good restaurents, walking areas, etc.

The dinner served there (of half-bord) was one of the worst one in Italy I experienced. The others are OK.

A good quality hotel and room. Very good view from the balcony. The only problem encountered- staff did not speak English and we do not speak Italian, but we got by.
