Situated in the Algarve, the Vale d'El Rei is a luxury Caramujeira hotel surrounded by scented orange trees, olive groves and golden beaches. In the surrounding area you can go horse riding, mountain biking into the hills, sailing and scuba diving or discover the Algarve's breathtaking coastline, fabulous grottoes, quaint fishing villages and many historical treasures.
At the Vale d'El Rei Suite & Village Resort Hotel, you can enjoy a complete break. There is a wide choice of accommodation at the Vale d'El Rei Suite & Village Resort, ranging from Twin rooms, Suites and Master Suites to a group of Two-bedroom Townhouse villas.
Recently renovated in 2008, the 39 Twin Rooms, 10 Suites and 5 Master Suites feature an en suite bathroom and a veranda with a table and chairs. The Suites and Master Suites also have a lounge with a sofa, while the Master Suites come with the added extra of a fully-equipped kitchenette. Decorated in bright colours and earthy tones, and furnished with suede sofas, terracotta and wood floors, and lots of plants, all of these rooms are cosy and cheerful.
The 22 Townhouse villas are even larger, featuring 2 en suite bedrooms and a guest bathroom; a fitted kitchen with a stove top, microwave, washing machine, refrigerator, table and a full set of utensils; a dining and living room with a fireplace, and a terrace.

The major plus point of this hotel is the friendlyness of the staff,from the manager Mr.Costa to the waiters,everybody was welcoming and helpful. The only issue of any note was that the Serenata restaurant was not open every night.When it was closed a buffet was arranged by the pool,and while these were very agreeable occasions,it might not suit everybody. The Vale d'El Rei would suit people of any age who want to just chill out in a very relaxing environment.

It is a resort that will probably be better during the summer as the indoors breakfast room was small. We were not aware when we booked the hotel that we had to pay to play tennis, get some wood for the fire or get to the spa. Otherwise, the townhouses were extremely clean and very well provided. We had booked one townhouse and two suites and they upgraded to three townhouses to make it more comfortable to us.

How to reach Vale d'El Rei Suite & Village Resort
By car
From Faro: follow the A22 towards Portimão and exit the highway at Alcantarilha. Continue onto Portimão. When you reach the International School, turn around and then turn right, following the Vale d'El Rei sign. After about 2 km/1.2 miles, turn right and drive for 300 meters/328 yards. Turn right again and you will arrive at the hotel.

The Calabash Bar is open daily between 4 p.m. and 12.30 a.m., serving a wide range of exotic cocktails. The bar opens out onto the swimming pool and the garden, and live music is organised here twice a week.
