The small and cozy hotel Teatro is located in the pedestrian area of the historical center of La Spezia and enjoys tranquility as well as a familiar management.

Very close to the railway station and few meters from the Morin walk, a touristic harbor from where leave the boats that link the city with the Cinque Terre, Lerici and Portovenere, the hotel is the ideal place for a relaxing stay, close to the sea and the beauties of the Gulf of the Poets.

The city of La Spezia, thanks to the particular conformation of its gulf, enjoys a privileged climate and it is for this reason that you can visit it during the various seasons of the year.

+ Helpful and kind staff. + Located in city centre. + Close to railway station. + Easy to find. + Washbasin in the room. - Reception is not open after 11pm - Only one toilet on a floor (toilet and shower were not in separate rooms) - Some loud kids near my room. - Quite cold in room in April.

First, the website should have public transportation directions to the hotel. It's located close to the harbor, but far from the bus station. It was difficult to haul my luggage across town because I didn't know there was a bus that went there. When I arrived, I pushed and pushed the button for the hotel on the keypad and got no response. Finally I pushed a different button, and was buzzed in. The owners live upstairs, so I don't know if they were upstairs or...there should be some sort of directions on the keypad. Only stairs, so pack light! The female owner greeted me and was super nice. She showed me to my room. It was an okay size. Enough for one person and had a sink and TV. The toilet and shower were right down the hall. Everything was clean. The hotel is located near the harbor, and between two pretty busy streets with lots of restaurants and shopping. Go to Carpe Diem for dinner...it's near the hotel. This is a great place to stay to visit the Cinque Terre, as it's much cheaper than staying in the 5. Take the ferry to the top and work your way back. Check to see if the trails are open before you haul all your stuff for the hikes. My only complaint with the hotel is that the internet wifi was not a strong signal at all. But, it was free at least! I would stay here again for sure.

The owner was very friendly. He kept our backpacks for 2 days for free. La Spezia was our starting and ending point for Cinque Terre. So we could hike there light. The hotel is around 10 to 15 minutes from the train station. It was a fun walk to see main streets of La Spezia and even a farmer’s market.

This is a great little hotel, right in the middle of a thriving, warm, italian community. As such, it isn't exactly quiet in this district but so much fun. If you want to feel like part of the community and not just another tourist, this place could be just what you want. We loved it! Our hosts were friendly, gave us good tips on places to eat, buy food etc and allowed us to leave our luggage at the hotel before catching a late train.

Located on a second floor of a building in a pedestrian area we easily found free parking at the end of the afternoon, less than 5 minutes walk as told by the hotel. Surrounded by great restaurants, followed the advice of hotel and was impressed. Great choice if you are planning to visit the Cinque Terre and don't want to put all your money in hotel fees. At night, we loved sitting on a patio of the main square nearby, sipping wine, watching people walking by and little kids playing soccer. We had a triple room with it's own bathroom, free internet and loved the very friendly and helpful staff/owner. Yes at night we heard the garbage truck but went back to sleep!

We stayed her for a visit to the Cinque Terre. The plan was to stay for 1 night and then visit Cinque Terre, but then we changed our plans and it was no problem to stay another night. The manager prepared another room for us with an extra bed, it was perfect. The walk from the hotel to the train station is about 10-15 minutes, so very doable.

This hotel is located close to port and the main attractions. It is about 15 min walk to the station. Staff was friendly and spoke good english. For the rest, this hotel was a bit of a disappointment. It was the most expensive place we stayed on our tour in Italy but the relationship between price and quality remained rather low compared to other hotels. This hotel does not offer breakfast, it has no A/C and lift and it is very noisy. Room was clean but dark due to inadequate lightning. Drainage in the bathroom was slow.

I've been so used to writing good reviews on our trip that this one comes as a sort of downer. Teatro was forgettable. Albergo and his wife were very accomodating, knowledgeable, and friendly. They both spoke great English and had great recommendations for restaurants around the area. They were the best part about Teatro! But the space was just a room on a noisy street with a tiny bathroom shared by 10 rooms at the end of the hall. Decorations were sparse but rooms were clean. The windows face out into the alleyway so no views. Nothing to write home about. It was a decent price for the room (we got a deal for 53 Euros/night) and a fine starting point for Cinque Terre. The walk from the train station is MUCH longer than you think-- especially with me and my husband carrying 4 months of our belongings. I guess I would say that for our first time to the Cinque Terre, this place wasn't awful. It could have been much worse. But it wasn't great either. So if you're going for spartan rooms for a decent price that you're fine with not spending a lot of time in, book Teatro. If you're looking for something with character and a great on-location location, do not. I'm glad we went with the budget option for our first time here, but I think we will be booking in one of the 5 if we ever come back.

this family run business provides clean and comfortable accomodation, and the standout was the friendliness and helpfulness of the owners who spoke quite good English. Room size was on the small size but what one would expect in the old part (pedestrian mall) area of La Spezia. Cleanliness was faultless. Be aware that for buildings like this in the older areas you must be able to carry luggage up one flight of stairs We would recommend our friends stay here - hosts were just great!

This was an amazing stay. The couple who run the hotel are so kind and welcoming, and very willing to help in any way they can. We needed to leave a bit early, and they helped make it happen, even though it meant less money for them. I love family run businesses, and this was certainly a great example of one. The room was very comfortable, and the hotel was easy to get to. You essentially walk down the road from the train station and land right at the hotel. Wonderful wonderful place!

I stayed in the room with the lowest price (25 euros or so). For that price and a single night on the way to Cinque Terre, it's quite a good deal. Decent deal for students and travelers not looking for a fancy accommodations and a romantic setting. Owner/manager was somewhat nice, but completely untrained and unaware of tourist culture and needs. The best thing about this hotel was the price, and location. Would not stay there again.

We had never been to La Spezia before and were glad for the maps and comments from other travelers. We found a fabulous restaurant on a street nearby, where the waiters were dressed like pirates. The room was clean enough and the concierge was very kind and helpful. But there were a few problems: no long-term parking nearby, no breakfast (I suppose that is why it is a 1-star hotel), too much noise at night, and tabacco smoke in the hall that crept under the door of our room. We could have opened the window for more air, if there hadn't been so much noise in the street below. But this was a genuine on-the-ground Italian experience and we are still exclaiming about it!

The room had no airconditioning so we had to keep the windows open = a LOT of NOICE from the streets until late at night. It was quite for an hour, then there was traffic outside... The owner knows only italian, but it worked well with just some tourist knowledge. Clean room, shared (small) bathroom. Parking is a few blocks away, around the park, but it was HARD to get a parking lot at night. Parking is free between 20 - 08. If you're not travelling in the hottest time of the season, it's ok. And the price is low so that is good too, but you don't get that much sleep.. .

Small hotel takes up 2nd level in apartment building. Room was simple, but clean and spacious enough. Shared bathroom was a bit small but clean and bright. Location is a 15-minute walk from the train station ~ not a bad walk except it was over cobbled-stone streets so our luggage made quite a racket. Maybe not recommended to elder travelers due to the walk from the train station + their lack of an elevator. The manager was friendly and helpful, and his elderly mother was sweet!

We had a room with private bathroom but i had a look around the other rooms and communal bathrooms and they all looked as clean as our accomadation. The hotel was located in a side street just off the main shopping area. It was quite a direct route by foot ( about 15 mins) from the main station but this wasn't obvious from the map provided on the booking form. Although the person in charge had very little English she was very friendly and obliging and seemed to be available most of the time. We really enjoyed this hotel. We arrived a bit earlier than check in, but we were lucky that someone was there (although he seemed a bit tired at 3pm, like he just woke up) and he showed us to our room. We got the room with the private ensuite bathroom, so apparently it was really a room for 3 people. Still, the price was excellent. Because there were 3 beds (a queen and a single), there was SO much room for us, and even a little private foyer for our shoes! The bathroom was our cleanest and nicest yet, and had a lot of space. The location was great, very close to the harbour and a 15 minute walk to the train station. In general, it was a great place for the price!

We stayed in La Spezia on our trip to the Cinque Terre. This wasn't a bad deal or location because there were trains every 5-20 mins. We stayed in room #3 which had a private bathroom with a shower, toilet and sink. We paid 65 Euros per night, and enjoyed the stay. The owner, an older woman, doesn't speak much English at all, but we were able to communicate with her. Very sweet old lady, we called her "Mama". She even ironed one of our shirts for us at no charge. The hotel is located on a quiet street off of a main street (no cars allowed in the area). Many restaurants, cafe's and shops in the area. A little far from the train station (~15 min walk) but I would definitely stay there again.

La Spezia is a nice place and great base to explore Cinque Terre. The hotel is about 15min down gradient walk from the train station. There is nothing special about the hotel but great price for exploring the immediate and greater area. The staff cannot speak very good English but enough to get by. The Cinque Terre walk is one of the best walks we have ever done and the views are unforgettable but start early (we started the walk at 8.30am) as pesky tourists invade the villages around midday and takes a little shine off the experience. The Cinque Terre card can be purchased at La Spezia train station cost us €8.50 and allows you on the trains and the main walk – remember to validate it at a yellow machine. If you want basic accommodation to explore this place is great.

In saying that we a shared bathroom which was very small- if you are circumfrentially challenged it may be quite akward. The woman who met us was friendly enough I think but spoke maybe 6 words of english (thats fine I speak maybe 12 words of Italian)but kept trying to talk to us- fine unless you are about to enter your room in a towel- she then opened the door where my partner had mercifully pulled on pants at the sound of this and she then tried to carry it on with him! Really only marked down because of interraction with staff- she may have been friendly but we sure as hell made sure the door was locked.

The accommodation was fine BUT the distance from the station was very misleading: maybe 10 minutes of speed walking WITHOUT luggage. As a result, because no bus routes, numbers were indicated on the website, we had to take an overpriced taxi there and a confusing bus trip back to the station, during which my wallet with ALL my credit and other cards, my ID document, driver's licence, etc was stolen from my coat's inside pocket! Not a very good memory of an otherwise beautiful city! I had to borrow money to get to the other side of the city to make a police statement as the station police would not help me. Police in Italy I found are in general extremely unfriendly and unhelpful! Sad as we as SA citizens have to spend a lot of money on an Italian visa as well as S & T.

The people there were very helpful. They gave me a quiet room as request. Their English are good.

Was very pleased with the size and cleanliness of the triple room with ensuite that I booked only a few days before we travelled. The room was a bit noisy on ther sat night due to the party people outside on their way home but it added to the atmosphere and wasn't too bad. The lady who ran the place was lovely and allowed us to extend our stay an extra night as we loved La Spezia so much. The hotel is more deserving of a 3 star than a 1 star! The location is excellent with loads of restaurants around. Definately would recommend staying here.

Just as described on the site. Small but nice decor. Ideally situated for the harbour - access to boats. La Spezia is a great base for a few days and so much cheaper than the cinque terre villages.(Extract fan was noisy and street could clearly be heard but fortunately it is in a fairly quiet area.) Directions/ map doesn't clarify where it is in relation to the station. An easy 10-15 minute walk.

The owner of the hotel is a lovely lady who has been very welcoming with us. I was delighted to spend a night in this lovely little hotel in LA SPEZIA city centre. The room was very clean, the price was honest and from there the 5 terre are just 10 min far with the car! Perfect!
