Very nice clean room and bathroom. Great well presented breakfast served in beautiful rooftop terrace. Staff were efficient but not overly friendly.Hotel is a short walk from the rail station from where trains run to the Cinque Terre towns. Surrounding area has many shops and food places.

This hotel is directly across from the entrance to the train station - do not go past the TI and down any stairs!! The "ramp" in front of the station is the actual road you turn left on and walk 50 yards to the hotel front door! This hotel is Beautiful and has lovely rooms and amenities! The staff were lovely and helpful. The view was of the lovely hill with pretty houses, the train station below was not noisy at all, stopped running at midnight. The breakfast was wonderfully varied, and also had non-gluten crackers available even though I had not requested them. Superior quality, exceeded our expectations. We were there in late September.

For a hotel only a few meters from the railway station, it was surprisingly quiet. It was also very convenient if taking the regional train to Cinque Terre. The room and services were adequate for what I wanted and the price was moderate. There was a nice cocktail hour for those who wanted this. The best feature was an excellent breakfast in a rooftop salon with lovely view of the mountains. My biggest disappointment was the lack of good restaurants within walking distance. Several were closed when I was there and the one across the street wasn't very good. As a single traveller, I also found the local restaurants very slow in serving me. This wasn't the fault of the hotel but would make a difference in whether I stay there in future.

Very convenient location. You can actually see the hotel the moment you step outside the La Spezia central train station. We arrived on Friday and there was a weekly market where you can find bargains. Actually surprised that some are cheaper than those in Milano. Breakfast was good and enough for hotel's star rating. There are some good affordable restaurants nearby. This hotel is highly recommended for those who plan to visit Cinque Terre.

Beautiful hotel. Great location near the train station and close to restaurants, etc. Location excellent, whether you have a car or use the trains, for exploring inside and outside of the Cinque Terre. The air con in our room didn't work well, but the beds were comfortable. Our second room had good air con but uncomfortable beds.

The front desk staff was helpful, except late at night. The breakfast was good, unless you went late in the morning. The location was great - easy, close access to the the train station and not far from the bus stop to go to Portovenere. Front desk was really helpful, again, with giving good bus info. La Spezia was a nicer city than I had thought from previous reviews - - I'd return and hop into the Cinque Terre and Portovenere again!

Location of this hotel was tremendous for me. Metres away from La Spezia Centrale train station with NO sign of noise in the room. Great base for visiting Cinque Terre. (Watch out for train times - mid-week there was a train at 7.55 am but the next was not until 10.00 am.)

A superb place to stay. Had a wonderful room, in terms of spaciousness it was the best value for money we encountered in europe. the hotel was much better than we expected from the photos. A good base for exploring the cinq terre, which was easier than we expected, so it also turned out to be a good base for a day trip to Pisa.

This hotel is very close to the train station and a perfect spot to use as a base for visiting Chinque Terra. It's an 8-20 minute train ride to Chinque Terra and trains are frequent. The room was quiet and the staff was friendly.

Though very close to the railway station the area around was very drab. The room was good, though it took some time to get a shower repaired. The staff recommended a restaurant opposite (Ristorante Roma) which is NOT a good place - the best reastaurants are in the old part of La Spezia, about 1 km. from the hotel.

Ideal location for a visit to Cinque Terre as it's directly next to the train station for a 9 minute ride to the first Cinque Terre town of Riomaggiore. It is well appointed and has a certain elegant charm, and does not feel faded and low-budget as one might expect given that its primary use is probably as a jumping-off point for Cinque Terre. Breakfast is included and there's parking in the back for a fee and internet is extra as well. I'd highly recommend it to people who are touring Cinque Terre but don't want to or are unable to stay in any of the Cinque Terre villages.

The hotel is perfectly situtated near the train station for easy access to the Cinqueterre. The room was small and nothing special, but the breakfast was good, with a nice view. The staff was welcoming and helpful in making restaurant reservations and giving directions.

Recommended for anyone who likes comfort & good service. Lift is very tiny - this is common in Italy. Breakfast & breakfast room a delight: good food, lovely views & terrace for summer. Our room was rather noisy as it was overlooking a noisy street which meant that we had to have the window closed at night. The breakfast was excellent , on our last day we were warned that a large group would be having breakfast early so we could time our arrival which was very helpful. The one woman who was looking after the breakfast room had everything restocked within fifteen minutes and still managed to keep a smile on her face. Lorenzo at the front desk was very helpful with suggestions for eating , you need go no further than the Roma over the road if you want fantastic food but are not too worried about elegant surroundings. Don't expect fancy wine , he has two sorts red or white! The hotel is within walking distance of the railway station which is very handy.

This hotel is in an ideal place to visit the Cinque Terre and nearby Porto Venere. The hotel is 3 mins from the train station and 5 mins from the main square. shopping street of La Spezia. La Spezia is an ideal base, it has a good selection of restaurants and a post to enable boat travel to local areas. The hotel is lovely and very well furnished, the recption staff were very pleasant and only too eager to help. I requested a room on the highest florr with a balcony and i was given the room on the 5th Floor with a large balcony. The only fault was it over looked the railway but with the double glazing you could only hear a minimal noise. The room was very spacious and very well appiointed however the only fault i have was the air conditioning unit it only managed to blow around hot air, this needed to be upgraded with amore recent unit. Overall loved this area of Italy and would recommend this area of Italy and this hotel.

I spent four nights at the Firenze e Continentale while touring Cinque Terre. I really appreciated the fact that the hotel was just meters from the train station which allowed made travelling to Cinque Terre convenient. The staff were very helpful and courteous. The room was spotless and well maintained. Breakfasts were more than adequate and this hotel provided cocktails and appetisers in the early evening which was unique in Italy. There was a good mix of young and elderly couples and those I spoke with had a high opinion of this hotel and staff. I would definetly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the C.Q. area for the quality of staff, accomodations, location and value.

The hotel was really nice, the only weak point was the garage, which costs 13 EUR/day. It is an old building used as a garage, the spaces are really small. In another hotel (same category) I only had to leave the key at the reception and they parked the car, and after -at leaving- they brought my car to the reception. That was a "service". Anyway all the rest was OK, breakfast was excellent and breakfast room had a nice panorama!

The Firenze e Continentale was a great place to stay. It is very close to the train station and within easy walking distance of the station, city center, and various trattorias. The receptionist was a little cold but very efficient. My room was noisy because it faced the street and the train station. Closing the window remedied that easily. Also, if hiking the Cinque Terre this is a great place to stay because you can take the train to the Cinque Terre very easily regardless of where you wish to begin your hike. I would definitely stay here again.

Bathroom so small!I'm sure you can't stay in if you are a bit fat! A lot of things for breakfast, but nothing really good. La Spezia is very quiet in the evening, nobody in restaurants. The big interest is the station very close, very easy to go to Cinque Terre, in spite of this, the neighbourhood isn't noisy. But you pay for this, i think this hotel is expensive, for this price you have a beautiful hotel in the south of France!

The hotel is remarkably close to the station, probably less than 100 paces. It is the most convenient location we have encountered yet. The staff were very helpful indeed and their rooms both quiet and comfortable. They have a lovely lounge and bar area where you can get a nice cup of tea or coffee. It was just a short walk into the town centre with plenty of shopping available along the way. There is a western union call/internet centre about 20 paces to the right, a laundromat across the road and cash machines approx. 50m further towards the city centre. It is said that this particular district is not so nice/safe. We were a bit apprehensive about staying there based on this information however, we found it to be quiet and felt relatively safe walking around in both day and night. We stayed in both La Spezia and in Monterosso Al Mare (Cinque Terre). We chose to stay in La Spezia as it enabled us to arrive in the area late in the evening at the beginning of our trip and to depart early (6:30am) for our next destination. It was very convenient as the train ride into Cinque Terre took only between 5-20min (depending on the town). That allowed us a full day on arrival into Cinque Terre and another full day on our departure. We would recommend both this hotel and it's city to anyone travelling through the area.

Overall it was ok. It was handy for us being close to the Train station. The reception was not overly welcoming and they make you hand in your passport initially. It would have been fine if they had locked away our passports in the time they kept it, but there didn't seem to be always someone at the front desk while the passports sat openly behind the desk in the key hole slots. The room was ok, but unfortunately the shower drain blocked up quickly. The breakfast was lovely with a beautiful view.

we enjoyed our stay at Hotel firenze e Continentale. The staff was very friendly and tried to help us with a problem with our rental car. The room was clean and the breakfast good. We would stay there again. It was a short walk to the train station, which is always helpful.

An older hotel but the rooms/beds are adequate. Only problem was the tiny shower. Location is good, only a few minutes from the train station, making it a great base for visiting the Cinque Terre;Lerici and Portonovere. Breakfast was fine.

Die Zimmer sollten dringend neu möbeliert werden... Gute Lage, sehr schöner Frühstücksraum mit Aussicht, gutes Frühstück. Durch eine Renovation würde das Hotel sehr gewinnen.

This was our first visit to LaSpezia. We were there only two nights but were able to hike the whole Cinque Terra trail and also went to Portovenere the first night via bus and had a wonderful dinner. We ate at a restaurant in LaSpezia recommended by hotel staff the 2nd night, Antica Trattoria Sevieri, and it was excellent. We liked staying here because it was very close to the train station. It had been recommended by a friend who had already stayed there, and it exceeded our expectations. The breakfast was wonderful and the rooms were very nice. Our family was traveling together consisting of my husband, myself, and our 2 adult children. My only regret was that we had to book two rooms, because there were no rooms that could sleep 4 people. Added to that they put us on different floors. It just so happened that the 2nd night I got word via long distance telephone that my Father had passed away that day in the U.S. It would have been nicer if we could have at least had two rooms next door to each other. We could not be accomodated. I guess I should have requested that ahead of time. It was inconvenient for us in more ways than one. As it was my daughter had to go get my husband that night to come to my room (2 AM). Overall, we had a good experience. Next time I will make special requests ahead of time.

This Hotel is so convenient to Train Station, it makes travel to 5 villages very easy. The lift was out of service on the day we checked out, this made it difficult to get luggage to ground floor as I am handicapped, walk with a limp. This did not cause too many problems and was easily offset by the friendly staff and great location.

staff was not overly friendly or helpful. Air conditioning did not work, and it makes for very hot nights in July!! breakfast was a nice buffet.

The hotel was located only a few minutes from the train station, yet you could not hear the trains. Ideal location for travelling up and down the Cinque Terra. Nice restaurant across the street, close to self-serve laundry and town centre. Would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again!

The perfect base hotel for visiting Cinque Terre. Even more perfect to have a self-laundry service (with attendant) nearby. Plan to stay there again if I make another trip to the Italian Riviera.

We loved the hotel, and would give it top marks except for one unfortunate thing. There were mosquitos. They bothered us, but they would not stop us from staying there again, as the accomodations are great, and the location unbeatable. Just wear repellent to bed, and keep windows closed when the lights are on.

The only advantage to staying at this hotel is its close proximity to the train station. The room was very small, dark and in general unappealing. I would go so far as to say "dingy". The bathroom was so small the door would not open all the way

Overall..a very pleasant stay at this hotel. Very close to railway and easy walk to shops, reataurants etc. Reception on arrival a bit off-handed..no smiles...but otherwise everything was good, includung an excellent breakfast. A great base to use to explore the Cinque Terre area which is a must visit and easily accessable by rail with station across the road. Would recommend this hotel as good value.

We loved this hotel, it is so quaint and beautiful, and our window opened to a fabulous view!! The town itself is wonderful. Just remember, they do not serve "american breakfasts" so if you don't like yogurt or cereal you may want to look for a place to get breakfast. I will definately go back!!

Nice and good located if you arrive by train and you are interested to visit cinqueterre by train. No far also walking distance from downtown and piers. I will recommend this hotel to frinds that will travel to La Spezia in the future. Clean and good room and bath, and excellent american breakfast.

Tha breakfast was wonderful...we awoke each morning to the aroma of fresh baked goodies. We chose the hotel Firenze and La Spezia as home base as we explored the Cinque Terra for their proximity to the trains and were not disappointed. The town is alive with local activity (don't miss Market Day on Friday. We would definitely stay there again if visiting the Cinque Terra

Excellent location for day in Cinque Terre. The hotel was 1/2 block from the rail station, so we didn't even need to take a taxi when we connected to and from the train. Staff was very helpful and courteous.

Very convenient, being across the road from the train station. We used this as a base for the Cinque Terre, which are just a few minutes away on the train. La Spezia is not the nicest town we visited but served us well for exploring the Cinque Terre. This was a clean, tidy hotel and I would recommend it and would stay there again.

It was a very good base for visiting famous Cinque Terre. Very near to FS La Spezia Centrale station and main street of La Spezia city, within several minutes wakl. You can find mini market behind the hotel and buy every foods and wines at there. You will be able to reach the ferry port that goes to Portovenere and Cinque Terre by 20 minutes walk. The hotel staff were friendly and kind. Our room was large enough and had a large bath room. It was better for us if the room has a hot tub and mini bar. Well, 6 nights stay at this hotel was very confortable. And, I was happy we could have pecolino cheese every breakfast.
