My wife and I are a rlatively mobile couple in our late 50's and found the Corallo great for our needs as a springboard for the Cinque Terre.Has stairs to rooms-so would not recommend for disabled.

Modern well run hotel with good service, and well appointed room. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice quiet area with local transport close by, train station a little distance away requiring transport if carrying luggage. Good city to base holiday to surrounding areas - Cinque Terre, Pisa, Lucca.

Hotel Corallo was a good surprise, better than what we saw on the internet. Probably recently renovated, everything was super clean and spacious. We just loved the white linen towels and breakfast was excellent. Very close to the road to Portovenere it was a nice short stay! And kudos to the hotel receptionists, very friendly and helpful.

not at all as was represented on the site. The rooms were like cells. There was a notice up at breakfast telling guests not to remove food and stating they were allowed one hot beverage only. The breakfast was terrible!!! Far too expensive.

The staff members were very helpful, and the parking garage convenient for our stay, which was focused on traveling to the Cinque Terre by train. The hotel is near the waterfront, but the train station was about 20 minutes away by crowded bus from the hotel.

The hotel is in a great location to town & transport and quiet. Our room/bathroom was large with a private courtyard and the staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. Not sure whether all rooms are this good but highly recommend to others if so.

For someone wanting a clean friendly conveniently located hotel to visit the Cinque Terre it very satisfactory. The staff was friendly and helpful with recommendations for dinner, etc. The rooms were small but clean. The shower was exceptionally small for the size of the bathroom . The price was reasonable.

We had booked a double room some months prior to out trip. When we arrived we were disappointed to find we had been given a rather small room with construction work going on directly outside our room which involved jack hammers, and workmen six inches from our patio door. But to their credit when we asked if there was another room available they went out of their way to give a a choice of all the other vacant rooms that were available for the 3 days we were to stay, We chose a lovely room overlooking the street which was spacious and beautifully quiet. The staff were very friendly and helpful and did not make us feel bad about asking to change rooms.

We were two mature couples traveling together and stayed at the Hotel Corolla for two nights. The lady at the front desk was so helpful in recommending a great restaurant just around the corner and giving directions to the docks where we got the boat to Monterosso. We hiked the amazing trail to the other villages. All in all a wonderful experience! The rooms we had were very adequate and quiet once we closed the window. Our room faced the street. The breakfast was good, only could've offered a little more fruit. We had a nice sitting room outside our room that made the hotel feel like a home away from home. Recommend this hotel for easy access to boats to Cinque Terre, and if you are driving a car, they have private indoor parking that you can reserve ahead.

We stayed here to walk the Cinque Terre. Worked out well. The hotel was clean and comfortable. Despite what some comments had said ther weregood resturants in walking distance (staff recommended) and a nice bar next door for a prosecco.Easy walk to boat, and a pleasant walk troug town to and from the train. Good breakfast.

Comparing with the price the breakfast could be better. Anyway, it was only one night and the it was the best shower we have experienced since the beginning of our trip. Good for short stays or single travellers or even young couple. If I had to be more days in town I would rather prefer to choose something more adequate.

The room was spacious by European standards, but a long way from the train station. We had to take a taxi (10 euro). There is no lift, so be prepared to climb up stairs with your luggage. Our triple room opened on to a private patio with an awning and table and chairs, which was nice, but it was also surrounded by private residence buildings so the view was nothing to smile about. There was an A/C unit, but no A/C flowed from it, only heat, and the beds were very hard. The front desk staff was hit and miss - the check-in girl was not very personable at all but a girl that was on duty later was very helpful in finding a nice restaurant for dinner (We highly recommend LaFonterna just around the corner!). All in all, if you're looking for a jumping off point to visit Portevenere and the Cinque Terre, don't stay in LaSpezia. Although it is convenient to the boat service and the train, it is not a tourist-friendly town.

Nice clean room with lovely terrace. Opened onto the courtyard in the back which was very large with lots of buildings but very quiet at night. People next door weren't quiet though and we could hear them fairly easily (but I just put in earplugs!). Shower was tiny but usable, rest of bath nice. Breakfast was alright but not a lot of variety. The kids loved the hot chocolate though! Staff was very nice, courteous and helpful. We had a marvelous dinner at a seafood place very close to the hotel. Easy 10-15 minute walk to the boats to Cinque Terra (I think the only way to go as you see nothing from the trains!)

We spent 2 nights at the Hotel Corallo. It was most enjoyable. The front office staff was very helpful, the breakfast and breakfast areas were more than adequate, except I was surprised to be charged for an additional cup of coffee, and the location near town and the harbor offered the best of both worlds. However as a result there was some street noise, but not enough to be too troublesome or ask for a room change. The rooms were small but extremely clean and well equipped. There is little space in the lobby, however there is a charming little nook upstairs to relax, and discuss your plans and adventures. The restuarant recommendations were excellent. We took the ferry to Cinque Terre and rode the train back, it was a memorable experience. Since it was the beginning of November, it was cool, and not crowded at all.

We really enjoyed our stay at Corallo. We took the boat trip to Monterosso and then walked the Cinque Terre - fabulous views. And loved visiting each village especially Corniglia. This was our first stay at Hotel Corallo. The hotel was clean, but undergoing construction so it was noisy. Construction equipment was staged in front of the entrance which made it difficult to unload our luggage. Access to the subterranean parking garage was difficult due to a narrow driveway. The breakfast provided was plentiful and the staff very pleasant and accommodating. Unfortunately, I left my sandals in the room. My efforts, both via phone and e-mail have been ignored which lowered my level of satisfaction rating towards competence of employees.

The hotel hosts were friendly and helpful in getting information to Cinque Terre. You can take the train to the villages but we found out taking the boat was better. Great location and easy to find. We wanted to be somewhere close to the Cinque Terre and it was a perfect location. We took the tourist cruise to the first village and hike to the rest of the others. Overall, it took us 1.5 hours but average would be 2-2.5 hours. One of the most beautiful scenery in Italy. We recommend comfortable shoes and light outfit. It was hotter then we thought in September. La Spezia is a great town with shopping center and nice place to relax and watch the sunset.

We had three really good nights at this hotel. As the gateway to the Cinque Terre , La Spezia and this hotel are well placed. It is reasonably close to all amenities although it is just outside of the CBD, but 10 mins walk has you where you need to be (ie boats to CT), 20 mins to the station or about 8 euro by cab. Helpful, friendly English speaking staff, good breakfast and clean rooms. A little bit noisy due to being near a major artery but ask for a quieter room. Many restaurants are about 10 mins walk away. See the CT by boat and then walk between the villages and catch the many trains back between each and to La Spezia. It's just as easy to pay as you go for the trains rather than a package. We will stay here again.

Staff were lovely and very helpful. Breakfast was fine. I booked two rooms, one had a rather strange smell which lingered for all the three days we were there, and as the hotel was full there was no chance of changing rooms. We stayed in La Spezia at Hotel Corallo for 2 nights as a hopping off point for hiking the Cinque Terre. For half the price of any of the 3 stars in the Cinque Terre, it was well worth it. The AC was a nice retreat after 2 long days of hiking. There was a refridgerator in the room, the beds were very comfortable, and breakfast was excellent (though I would like to see some hard boiled eggs on the menu). The hospitality was wonderful as every member of the staff treated us with a smile and a can do attitude. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends, especially if affordabilty is a factor in the decision to be able to stay in the area more than just 1 night.

We enjoyed very much being in Corallo. It's the ideal place for doing the boat trips to Portovenere and Cinque Terre. Eventhough La Spezia has no beach, some local people told us about Baia Blu. It's about 10 minutes driving from La Spezia (direction Lerici) and it's just wonderful! Last but not least, a big THANK YOU to Mauro and his team, they were very nice with us and gave us lots of good hints.

Excellent location for Cinque Terre Travelers. Easy access to bus/train. The staff at the hotel were very helpful, friendly and accommodating. The hotel breakfast cafe was an excellant way to start our day! Grazie, Paolo, for looking out for us! We wished we had allowed for one more day just to hang out in La Spezia. There is an amusement park within a short walking distance, a grocery store close by and a large, covered, daily market on the bus route. The only slight disappointment that we experienced was that the walls do seem thin as you can hear your neighbors when they are in the bathroom...fortunately, ours were not obnoxious and it was only first thing in the morning and early bed time that we heard noice, so it didn't really bother us. Also, we found out that our ATM card would not work in three different machines. We had just enough money to get home with...eek! Thank you, Jesus!

We enjoyed our trip to La Spezia and our stay in the Corallo hotel to the full. The Corallo is a small, very cute hotel, almost in the middle of La Spezia. However, the traffic is very typical for an italian city, so it has to be clear that the quietness can't be "excellent". So our mid rating for that should not be a criticism, but the truth...;-) The hotel is located in the mid of many one way streets, so the map of the web page is very useful to find the right way through the streets. But once found, you will have a very pretty time in a professional, but also very familiar italian hotel. Enjoy it.

(The towels were threadbare and there were no amenities.) It was impossible to walk to the train station from the hotel, as the front desk had said we could. A friendly stranger on the street helped us find a bus after we realized we could not walk without going through a long dark traffic tunnel filled with speeding cars.

Hotel Corallo was just what we wanted in a place to stay, where we would use the spot as a jumping off point to Cinque Terre. It was clean and comfortable and the staff was very good. Its location was centralized so that you could walk all over the city and the water front, if you wished.

We found the hotel adequate but rahter inpersonal. The lighting in the room was very poor and the room could have handled more furniture and pictures on the wall to give it some personality. We didn't enjoy La Spezia as a location but it served our purpose.

We were very happy with this hotel. It was clean , had a good level of comfort and provided us with everything we needed. Was not close to many restaurants, but the one or two nearby were good. Very good breakfast. Excellent value for money, would stay again and recommend it to others.

Not a particularly great location at a relatively high price.

We had a very nice stay at the Corallo. The room and bathroom were very clean and the hallways and surrounding areas were lovely. It was clearly apparent that the hotel had been recently upgraded. The location was excellent and certainly walkable to the train station and downtown action. Although we were somewhat rushed to get the train, the breakfast was good. We'd certainly recommend the Corallo to others as offering excellent value for a very clean, quiet and spacious hotel in this lovely Italian city.

The room was very clean and neat.Breakfast was excellant. However, the room was on a city street which was noisy. However, whoever was on the desk to greet us was so nice and helpful. Location was excellent!!

Our daughter's room reeked of sewage. It was disgusting, and we checked out immediately. The clerk was good, but the room was intolerable.

We choose this hotel because it had parking and closeness to public transport. However,we had to pay 40 Euros for the 4 nights secure parking under the hotel(we would have had to pay more if it had been left in the street)We intended leaving the car there and using public transport - although we found the hotel fairly easily it is in a one way street and the signing to the hotel takes you the wrong way up this street if driving. The room we were allocated faced on to this busy street and we asked to be moved to one quieter. This was not a problem - we had Room 1 with an outside terrace overlooked by local appartments but very quiet. The only public room was a small breakfast room, only available in the morning - just 7 tables not really sufficient if most people come at the same time! However, the Italians only pause for expresso/cappuchini and cake so we did not have a problem getting a table but this could be a problem if everyone lingers over breakfast. The hotel reception were very helpful - English speaking - offering advice on restaurants and providing public transport timetables and city maps. The nearest bus stop was 2 minutes away to various locations and the railway station about 20 minutes walk. There are few tourist type restaurants close by, the majority being in the town.
