Hotel Albergo Birillo - La Spezia

Very friendly and helpful front desk. room and bathroom very clean. Bathroom small but fine. free wifi or computer in lobby for use. Excellent espresso coffee available in lobby. Very accessable to the cinque terre only 9 min by train to first village, 10 min walk to station.

We actually really loved this hotel. They had a computer with free web access in the lobby. The woman at the desk was sweet and friendly. The hotel is about a 10-15 minute walk from the La Spezia train station. We really had no complaints. Felt safe and secure, and everything was clean.

Staff very helpfull

Breakfast was rather poor, no home-made food, no cheese and ham. It should be included in the price of the room. Our car was taken away on Friday morning because of the fair on Via Garibaldi. We hadn't noticed the sign. The receptionist should have warned us about it.

The hotel is average, but the woman who was working the desk was not helpfull at all. she incorporated the help of a son and/or husband? who were very helpful. She seemed aggravated to have to deal with americans - but the others tried very hard to help us with our travels the next day and let us park our car there while we went on the train for the day.

Little english. Close to Sat market and river walk and park. 10-15 min walk from train station.

Great central location and near station. Staff was very helpfull and hotel is clean. Just to warn you that reception man speaks only italian but was very helpfull with our luggage because it was lots of steps up and no lift. Very nice breakfast.

Positives: Good location. Not far from the train station where you can catch the train to the cinque terre quickly. The air conditioning worked fine and the tv as well. Negatives: I would not stay here again. No soap or shampoo in the bathroom. There wasn't a view from the window and not much light coming into the room from outside. I was charged 5 euro more for a breakfast which was lacking and there wasn't any meat. There is an old couple that work there who seem a bit tired and unhappy at this point in their lives.

The hotel was adequate. No one spoke english but everyone tried very hard to help and assist us. There is no elevator in the hotel so you will have to carry your bags upstairs.

Twin beds facing the alleyway this was the first time that I spent in this hotel. the breakfast was wonderful, so much food.

Location great & free internet also really helpful!!price, ok, I poss could have a more competitive rate, but I'm not unhappy with my stay at all.

Nice room, clean, quiet, good breakfast. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Several block walk from train station; walking distance to marina for boat excursions to Cinque Terre. Open Market close by. Fine for single woman.

No parking! You would have to get lucky and find a spot on one of the busy streets.

Very nice helpful family-like staff, not english-speaking but it was no real problem, rather inspirating trying to understand italian. We really enjoyed our stay even if we didn´t spend much time in the hotell except for nights and mornings.

Somewhat disappointing. The reception spoke no English and were not friendly. The bathroom was incredibly small. Some repairs need to be made. door handles that come off, toilet seat broken.

We did not find the staff helpful and we were unable to communicate with them. Breakfast should have been included in the room price. Compared to accommodation we had in Florence and Venice, this place was more expensive.

Is was budget accommodation so not super flashy but who wants to go to Italy and sit in their room. Clean and good value breakfast. Hard to find someone that spoke english.
