exterior
Hotel Al Convento lies in the heart of Vezzano Ligure, an ancient village located on the crest of a hill, very close to the Magra and Vara rivers, offering the perfect base to visit the Cinque Terre.
The building originally housed the convent of the adjacent SS. Maria Assunta e Sebastiano church. Fully renovated and refurbished, the hotel has preserved its authentic character while offering every modern comfort such as spacious, brightly-lit guest rooms and elegant furnishings.
Easily reachable from the highway exit, the property provides an ideal starting point to discover the beautiful cities of Genoa, Pisa and Carrara as well as the nearby Versilia and Lunigiana regions.

I was in Al covento in my holidays and I find the hotel modern and classic, very comfortable and nice. I recomended the hotel to anyone who want to stay in a quiet village: Vezzano Ligure is part of the Val di Magra and there´s so many places to go in the valley, even Portofino and Porto Venere. The staff was nice and the hotel´s restaurant was very good.

25 minute taxi ride from the station up into the surround hills of La Spezia. There is also a bus up and down from the village. Not many English speaking people, but if you want the feel of an Italian village, near a city, this is ideal. People friendly and standard of hotel was very good.

Very expensive for what it is, odd location, hard to find, with nothing around but not exactly a "nice secluded spot". It is not in "Spezia" as indicated in the description, it's up a hill in the middle of nowhere. We arrived on a sunday afternoon everything was closed and the only dining option was in the hotel's overpriced restaurant. The rooms are a little too bare and cold and the staff not helpful at all. 100 euro is better spent somewhere else, terribly overpriced for what it is.

A lovely, simple hotel in a classic elegant Italian reworking of an old building. The village is very pleasant and peaceful and the surrounding countryside beautiful. It's very hilly and you certainly need a car but ideal for driving down to La Spezia and catching the train up to the Cinque Terre.

beautiful hotel in a nice little village on top of a hill. very narrow road with lots of curves to get there, but once you are up it's beautiful. the rooms are not as big as it looks on the pictures but it's totally sufficient and very tasteful interieur. don't bring too much luggage because there is no lift. breakfast was good and the staff was very friendly. Perfect hotel to make a stopover on the way to tuscany or rome. definetly recommended!

The Al Convento is a very special hotel in a wounderful area, very comfortable and particular designed rooms where you catch a climbs of the living in an old monastry. We stayed in a three bed room with plenty of space.

Due to location of the hotel you absolutely need the car even if the website says that access can be by bus. Prior to our visit we read all previous comments on venere web site and all comments were found to be true following our visit. Service at the hotel restaurant was very slow but we were not in a rush... so not a problem. The hotel is not so close to "Cinque Terre" and you need good directions to reach the Station in La Spezia or the road to Cinque Terre. Infact, we could not take the same way twice. All in all the hotel is nice, the room spacious, bathroom modern and spacious with good working shower, fair price. We were disappointed with the breakfast and with the menu of the restaurant

Hotel away from town. Nice if you want quietness. Be careful because 2 rooms are more little than the others. The photography on the website doesn't exactly show the room's space. Staff very friendly, realy nice little place to stay if you have a car!!

Staff were extremely helpful. The noise was from the ringing of bells hourly and half-hourly especially 85 rings at 6.30 a.m. We gradually got used to it. The food at the adjacent restaurant was high quality and good value although service was unpredictable. We enjoyed each dinner there.

The hotel is truly a wonderful place, with very friendly and generous staff though not as close to Cinque Terre start as we thought. If you are going to take the train from La Spezia into the park, make sure you get very specific directions to the La Spezia train station. We had a meal in the adjoining restaurant, and while the food was competent and plentiful, the service was slow, as there was a full house with only one server. The town itself is strangely laid out, but do explore, there are some wonderful covered alleyways and good views.

This hotel was a nice surprise once we found it. The furnishings and bath were new and fresh. We just staryed one night on our way to Cinque Terra. The little town was quaint and gorgeous.
