the location is excellent; opposit of Wawel castle and at the edge of old center. Old hotel, needs to be renovated. breakfast en dinerroom is also bar later in the evening, which is nice but very busy place and poor availability. room for one guest is more like a big closet. price value for money? up to a certain standard yes, but again, needs to be renovated fast.

Even though the hotel position is stunning as you're placed between the main attractions of the town, still the rooms lack in air conditioning (we stayed during August, and some days we found temperatures around 35-37°C), and the main roads which move around the building are extremely noisy due to trams also in the first hours of the day (5-6 a.m.), but we needed to open the windows to lower the temperature. In fact, it was actually impossible to sleep, be it for the heat or for the traffic. So I suggest the owners to provide all rooms with air conditioning.

The hotel is split into two parts, I was fotunate to be accomodated in an area that appeared to have been renovated and was therefore appropriate however the original part of the hotel (reception building) left much to be desired with regards appearance (doors scratched and aged) Facilities at the hotel were only let down by having no tea/coffee making facilities in the room (1st hotel I have visited without this facility)

The location was a 7 min walk from the main square, which is ideal. The hotel bar was also good and the tyskie and zywiec is much better on tap than the bottles you get in wetherspoons over here. Overall... Awesome

We arrived in the evening, there was no house number and no light or advice of "Royal Hotel",to see from the street. From the city map we were sure, that it must be at this special place, so I left the car to find out. The location is excellent. You reach all p o i by foot. The room-bathroom and even a small salon were spacious an comfortable.

Excellent position, close to the very city centre. (just in front of the castle, 5 min walking from main square). We've been lucky as regards the room, a true suite with SIX windows looking at the castle, at the price of a double (it was november, maybe the hotel was a bit empty). Our room was a bit "old" (I mean, sofa was damaged, as some pieces of furniture), but clean, especially the bathroom. Moreover, heating was excellent, and the quiety of the room too (with windows closed, the tram's noise was hardly hearable. Only fault: internet connection was extremely slow and on tv there were no foreign channels, so you could not understand anything while watching! Breakfast was good and varied, and also having a discount at the restaurant of the hotel (one of the best in town, as some polish people told us)was a good surprise!

Our room was very large (even if it was a cheap one), and the bathroom was very recently renewed. Breakfast was ok

My main complain is the lack of hairdryer in the bathroom and a huge problem with getting a hold of an iron. The quantity of toiletries provided was rather a drop in the ocean in comparison with any other 3-star hotel I've stayed in. The broadband was very slow, so it might an idea to invest in a faster one. It seems that the room walls have not been painted for a long time. Otherwise the decor and the facilities were OK. Nice and very friendly staff. Although the hotel is conveniently located just opposite the Royal Castle, I would not recommend it to people, who have sleeping problems, as there is a noisy tram line just outside on the east side of the hotel.

The Royal was superbly located within walking distance of all attractions mid way between old town square and the jewish quarter. The on site bar was excellent value for money especially with special offers on meals each evening. Trams ran from outside the hotel up to station and other locations which could be noisy if you aare a light sleeper ask for a room at the rear of the hotel.

Great location next to the Royal Castle. Hotel being renovated but that didn't cause us any problems. We were in a recently renovated suite which was very spacious - huge bedroom and bathroom and separate sitting room. Few minor bits to be finished off eg lack toilet roll holder. Breakfast buffet was good and the food and atmosphere in the ajoining restaurant was excellent and great value for money - huge portions so make sure you are really hungry!

The Royal is a nice old fashion style hotel. We were lucky to stay in a lovely, very spacious room which was just renovated. We heard from others that not all of the rooms are that convinient. The hotel exists of several buildings, connected by stairs. Elder people or those with a dissability should ask for a room in the first part, that part has an elevator. The location is great, just under the Wawel Hill next to down town Krakow and close to Kazimierz (5-10 minute stroll). Nice and complete breakfast buffet.

The room had curtains that you couldn't close without the curtains falling off (which they did!). It was fixed by staff but still couldn't close at night to keep out light from the street. The room faced the street which was noisy at night with people and you were woken up at 5 am with the sound of the tram. Room was small, but generally clean, good bathroom and an excellent breakfast. If room wasn't on the street would return as location is excellent, but would have to have a room that didn't face the street and curtains you could close!

What an experience the Royal Hotel was! We requested a room with a view of the Castle but unfortunately it was not possible to have one. Instead we got a suite ( 2 enormous rooms and bathroom) facing the courtyard. Although I was disappointed we enjoyed our stay and bought lovely fresh flowers from the market to brighten our room. A bonus was - it was so quiet - and all the furniture was brand new. The bathroom has also been renovated and clean and fresh. We had dinner at the restaurant more than once and just loved it! The portions are enormous - as stated more than once on this site. We loved Krakow and I am already planning (dreaming) to return. And I will not stay at any other Hotel than the Royal Hotel.

the hotel is old and definitely in need of a major renovation. My room was facing a busy street and the noise from trams made it impossible to sleep. They take a break from 1 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. which is only a small consolation.

This is an average hotel. If you are looking for a place to sleep - no frills - this is your place. The room I was in (Single) was small and this is an older hotel. The hotel staff is not friendly, asking basic questions for non polish speakers will be challenging. There is a gym (hidden a few blocks away) btw - which I found out after some research from locals. Area is sketchy at night - beware if u go out. Only plus - hotel is directly across street from the Royal Castle. Not horrible, but not the best.
