Hotel Kazimierz - Krakow

Hotel Kazimierz is in a great location less than a minute from major tram and bus stops easily connecting the main bus/train stations, the old town and the bus to the salt mines. The only problem was the wi-fi didn't always work in all locations, but at night you could use the office computer and internet.

We stayed five nights at the hotel. Great location, just a few minutes away from the Wawel and plac nowa, where many nice bars and restaurants are located. Breakfast was huge and excellent, rooms spacious and clean.

Excellent hotel. Great value. Nice location. An easy 10 minute walk brings you to lots of shops, restaurants and pubs. Room was spacious, clean, and quiet. We arrived at Balice airport and walked a few minutes to the train. It cost about 8 zloty to the main train station. Then a taxi to the hotel cost 20z. We took a taxi from the hotel to the airport on the way home and this cost 80z. Well worth doing the day trips to Auschwitz and the salt mines when in Krakow. We also took a day trip to Warsaw. It takes 3 hours each way and costs under 200z per person for the train. We took a guided tour there and returned that evening. If you have a day to spare it's well worth considering Warsaw. Overall a good clean hotel in a lovely city. Breakfast was a nice continental style buffet with lots of polish offerings. We mainly stuck with cereal, breads, ham, cheese and coffee but there was much on offer. The reception staff were very helpful with any requests and very competent with their jobs however I did not find them overly friendly. But that's my only small problem with the whole experience. I would highly recommend this hotel and also a visit to Krakow.

Do not be deterred that hotel is not quite in the centre of the old town..it is only about a ten minute walk to Wawel district and another 5 to 10 minutes to the main square of Krakow. One of the better buffet breakfasts although to get hot scrambled eggs that are supposedly included in the breakfast (and hotel cost) it is a bit difficult as waiter is not often around as everything else is self serve.

The hotel warned us about a "wedding party" to be hold on the third night. So we cancelled it. It was very honest of them. Maybe we missed a good (Polish) party though... BTW cancelling one of three nights seemed pretty complicated... The staff was ok, with one lady at the desk learning (both English and the job) being supervised by another... Funny but not the most efficient... But you have to learn sometime... Parking is easy and safe, don't bother using the hotel parking (far away and at an extra charge). Area is excellent.
