Birnbaumhof - Pension und Ferienwohnungen - Schwedelbach, Kaiserslautern

For 80 euros, this is a great place to stay! The staff was welcoming and friendly. I would better equate this hotel with a bed and breakfast. The rooms are cozy (but not tiny) and the breakfast is definitely a German one. However, the owner was more than happy to whip up some scrambled eggs with ham just for us. I was surprised and happy that a cd/dvd player was in every room, especially considering that we have an infant. Next time we stay I will definitely bring a dvd to keep her happy. They are 10 minutes from Ramstein and less than 15 from Lanstuhl, so great place to stay if you are military and have to go from base to base. There is no air conditioning, but there's not in hardly any small German hotel, but the rooms were cool and comfortable. The atmosphere is quaint with a small town and surrounding fields. They allow animals, and I saw a lot of neighborhood dogs running in the fields and trails. A wonderful place to stay! We will definitely stay again!

At Birnbaumhof, Octavia and Herman were attentive to our every need. My wife wants to stay there again just so that she can be pampered! Our room was cheerful, clean, and spacious. Breakfast was plentiful - the eggs cooked to order were delicious. Birnbaumhof is located in a charming little village with easy access to the main roads. It is ideal for exploring the Rheinland Palatinate area as well as a base for visiting cities such as Trier and Heidelberg. The French border is just an hour or so away. When we return to Germany, we will stay there again.

I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Birnbaumhof! The room was perfect and had all the essentials for my trip including wireless internet. Breakfast was typical European style with fresh fruit, meat and cheeses, fresh bread, yogurt etc. There was even a day with fresh plum cake (or something yummy like that.) As for the location, I thought it was perfect! About 10-15 minute drive from Kaiserslautern out in the country. A quite little German town with lots of biking and walking paths and some great food! Octavia and her husband were very helpful about recommending places to eat and visit and even drove me to dinner one night. I will tell you, that was the best meal I have eaten since my last stay in Europe! To sum it up, if you are looking for a nice place to stay and you like to experience great local food and culture, stay at Hotel Birnbaumhof!

What a lovely place! We arrived late and Octavia graciously accomodated us and made our entire stay wonderful. She speaks excellent English. The room was immaculate, the breakfast generous and delicious. Located on the edge of a typical German village. The area is rural so you awaken to birds singing and the smell of the nearby forest. Very close to Ramstein Air Base yet no airplane noise. VAT form accepted. Excellent value for the price.

Seldom have I stayed at such a pleasant place. The hyper-enthusiastic owner ensures that everything is as good as is humanly possible.The room was spacious, immaculately clean and well appointed. I thought I had finished breakfast then the main course arrived ! I will change future travel plans to allow more time here. This was my first visit and the only improvement I could suggest was in the printed directions from juction 15 on the autobahn which could be better described.

I enjoyed my stay at the Birnbaumhof very much. It was quiet,comfortable and very welcoming. The owner, who is cheerful and friendly sets the tone for the whole hotel. I would love to stay here again.

We stayed at Hotel Birnbaumhof twice during our visit to southern Germany in November 2006. We used it as a sort of home base since our son was stationed in nearby Ramstein AFB. The location, buildings and rooms were perfect and just as described. Octavia and Herman our hosts were wonderful and made an extra effort to interact with us and assure that our stay and intermittent travels were pleasant and successful. It is a wonderful place with a calm enough atmosphere that will allow you to slow down and meet local people which is what foreign travel is really all about. We loved the place and will stay there again if at all possible.
