Nice, clean, hotel in central Istanbul. Great view from the roof terrace. Nice cat! One annoying thing though, the staff constantly tried to sell us package deals, restaurants, tickets etc. It is OK to give advices but if the customer says no thanks, the staff should take the hint... So far I've stayed in four different hotels in Istanbul and I would say this one is adequate but not the best you can get for your money.

Well located, staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was basic but adequate, orange juice was extra cost. Room was too small for two people to walk around together, one had to sit on the bed to allow the other to pass. We heard all the other guests open and shut their doors and go to the bathroom. We left after two days of a five day booking.

the hotel as a perfect location at walking distance from the historical part and the area interesting for the tourist . the people of the hotel can provide you info about public transport or nice restaurant. the room at the main floor are not so perfect because the window is exactly on the street and cannot be open, but if you stay there just for sleeping (my case) is no problem, because is really quiet

I stayed here with a friend for a weekend city break. The hotel is in an excellent location, near to all the main sites in the old town. The staff were very helpful, friendly and accommodating. The room was clean with all the necessary amenities and the hotel itself had a relaxed atmosphere with a lovely breakfast terrace.

This hotel is difficult to find but worth the effort. We were a group of 5 in two rooms. While the rooms are not large, I can't say enough about the staff, especially Yusef and Hulia. One of our party fell and broke her arm in downtown Istanbul shortly after arriving. The staff were invaluable in arranging transportation to and from the hospital, checking on her wellbeing, and showing genuine concern. The staff knows the area well and was able to recommend restaurants, make reservations, and direct us with local transportation. The hotel location is very convenient to major attractions, in a safe area, and one block from the tram stop. I would highly recommend this hotel - it provides a personnel touch you won't find in a large hotel or chain.

As a solo female traveller, the Zeynep Sultan was the perfect place for me! It is ideally located within walking distance of absolutely everything whether in Sultanahmet or steps to the tram to visit further afield. It is spotlessly clean, and on a quiet, safe street. The staff was incredibly helpful and the rooftop cafe a great place to relax and have a Turkish coffee or beer with new friends.

We were made to feel very welcome. Our friends airconditioner was not working properly and so they were given another room immediately. Breakfast was very enjoyable, we were very comfortable and felt very safe in this area. Ask the manager if you can see the cellar. Its like the ancient cistern without the water.Staff went out of their way to be very helpful. Hotel in a quiet spot but close to facilities and sites

I had a great stay. The location can't be beat - easy, short walks to Haia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Topapki, etc. All of the staff were exceptionally friendly & helpful - they were among the best (if not the best)I've encountered in many travels over the years. The hotel is not fancy, but as a basic hotel I highly recommemd it for these reasons.

The hotel is very well located - just in the middle of the centre of the old city, in a very charming part of the old city. At the reception of the hotel, we've been given a very warm welcome and a hearty service and tips for our stay. Our double room was minuscule, but it was clean and together with a very good service, we enjoyed our stay very much.

Hotel is centrally located to all the major sites. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Our room was on the first floor and we heard music from nightly entertainment outside and the call for prayers. While not quiet, it really provided a wonderful atmosphere to fall asleep and wake up to. The breakfast area on the roof was a great place to start the day. I would recommend this hotel to any traveller.

We had big problems with warming: the conditioner did not work. Next day we asked for help at the employees, but they didn't remember to take a look on our problems in half an hour.Afterwards we asked another time. When we came bacj at noon they said the room was O.K. but the conditioner was agian not working. Finally they changed the room, and it was only a little better. Despite that problem, the location is super for visting the city.

We were recommended the Omar Restaurant by the hotel-near the Yerebatan Sarnici. The restaurant was great-top floor with fantastic views, good food and reasonable prices. We would certainly use this hotel again-not luxurious but clean, comfortable and good value for money-some superb views of Hagia Sophia from our room.

The good: 1) Location, location, location. It takes you 5 minutes to get to Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, or Topkapi Palace by walk. It's located in the heart of Sultanahmed, and has very easy access to all the attractions. 2) It's very clean 3) The staff is competent. 4) They provide free internet access. 5) The breakfast terrace has views to Hagia Sophia. The bad: 1) For some reason, when I payed with credit card, they charged us about 20€ more. I don't know whether it was my bank's fault or them. They didn't inform me of this. 2) Rooms are small. 3) It's located near a mosque so, all the calls to prayer can be heard in the room. Other stuff: - Breakfast is not great (no brewed coffee, only instant coffee).

EXCELLENT position to visit Hagia Sophia (you can see it!), the Blue Mosque, Archeological Musuem, Topkapi Palace. The hotel is next to the small Zeynep Sultan mosque, so you must consider that you will often hear the muezzin: the minaret is in front of the terrace where breakfast is served. This is a common problem in Istanbul, but there is no traffic in the small road of the hotel, so here you don't have noise from cars etc... we found very helpful and friendly employees. Minor defects: Internet wireless connection works perfectly in public areas but not in every room (low signal); in some rooms air conditioner seems older and a little noisy; there is no elevator. Overall we were absolutely happy with this hotel. An excellent choice, mainly for its position.

The hotel is in an excellent location, just a very short walk to the main tourist areas and to the local rail which took us all over Istanbul. We stayed in 2 grande double rooms, I think that was the name of them anyway. The rooms are pretty small and the bathrooms are fairly tight squeeze, but apart from this I couldn't fault the hotel. Even getting woken up at 06:00 by the call to prayer on the first morning wasn't as bad as I'd expected. The rooms were clean and tidy and the staff very welcoming and friendly. The breakfast is enough to set you up for a day's sightseeing and the hotel's location is superb for this, being right in the heart of Sultanahmet. The hotel was a bit tricky to find for the taxi driver so try and make sure you have it on a map.. but it's very close to Aya Sofia so just head for that and you can't go too badly wrong. It's actually closer to the Basilica Cistern so if you can find that

Had a wonderful 5 day stay. Location was excellent, minutes from all the most attractive places. This hotel which was converted from an old house seats on an underground 3000 year old church, the experience was incredible. One of the friendliest, knowledgeable and sincere staff we have ever encountered in our years of travel. They can improve their breakfast menu. Though the rooms were small and little inconvenient for not having an elevator, great location and service made up for the negatives. We will also recommend to visit the carpet place down the street called `Mihrap' for their reasonable price and honesty and the restaurant close by called `Omar'for good food at reasonable price. Warning - do not fall for the seafood restaurant near the fish market for their pickup service. They are overpriced and food is rotten. We will definitely stay their in our next visit and will highly recommend others to stay as it offers an excellent value for the money.

Stayed at the Zeynap Sultan for 5 nights. Location is fantastic though the hotel is tucked away in a sidestreet and the taxi (as well as many passers by) had no idea where it was. The room was incredibly small, the only really negative thing to say. The hotel cat "Dirtbag" was so cute in a peculiar sort of way. I had a wonderful stay at Zeynup Sultan and couldn't have been in a better location. It was my first time to Istanbul and I like to keep things easy during my first introduction to a place by staying the area nearest the main sights. Upon check-in the hotel staff immediately offered to upgrade me to a larger room even though I had no expectation for more than a single. They wanted to accommadate my request for a nice view which the single had but it was a very tiny room. I stayed there 3 nights and then they transferred me to a double with an even better view. I felt completely safe in Sultanahmet though I did get a little worn out from the constant conversation with men there. But that was my fault for being so approachable and friendly. I learned :). Anyway, I highly recommend Zeynup Sultan for your time in Istanbul.

Good service. Type of service and rate as the site and the reservation, including one-way transport from or to int. airport free of charge. Good location to visit the old part of the city, and also the new one if you want to walk. Room dimension right for a short stay with little luggage.

Good Hotel. I am not sure, though, that I will go again. The transfer from the Airport was OK, but for the return we should pay an expensive rate of 20€ (compared to some microbus alternatives at 4€ per person). We had a little problem with a taxi that was called from our hotel, assuring us that was the way to avoid any problems with taxis :-) Apart from that, the location is superb but, at the time of our stay, quite noisy.

Hotel was as promised. Staff excellent. breakfast very good. Location is a walk up hill to Blue Mosque and transportation, could be an issue for older travelers. Overall very good.

The rooms were much smaller than they looked at the photos. The bathroom were also very little. We had asked for twinbedded rooms but got doublerooms with one bed. The breakfast didn´t include juice and yougorth. We had to pay for the juice, yuogorth was not to get. We would expect that in Turkey. Apart from that, the hotel and the staff wesr very good. Best regards Christer Vestlund, Sweden

It takes some doing to arrive for the first time but it is due only to the very way streets are in this historical sector of the city, that adds to the charm of the area. Sector is safe because authorities do their job to look after tourists safety and mostly because local people are friendly and interested in selling goods and services, and their are very enthusiastic at that. Location is excellent, within walking distance to main attractions: Agia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar, Cistern, Hippodrome. At the plaza facing Agia Sophia there is the stop for the buses that make the worthwhile sightseeing tour of the city, its walls and the shore on the Bosphorus. It is a short taxi ride to the Galata Bridge or to the Fish Market and its restaurants. To sail the Bosphorus and the Golden Horn the hotel arranges with a tour operator for pickup and return. Additionally in the area there are many other attractions, shops, restaurants and coffe houses. As for the neighboring mosques and the calls to prayer its melodious quality was a welcome change from the usual harsh big city noises, and they do not last that long either. The hotel personnel, particularly at the front desk, provided good information and was always helpful and professional. Breakfast was healthy, nutritious, light and tasty and a welcome variation from the usual fare. I would gladly return to this property.

Returned from Istanbul April, 02nd 2007. Zeynep Sultan is definitely quite pleasant and situated awfully convenient being 3min walk to EVERYTHING in Sultanahmet district. However possible future guests of this place should know that there they find real advantages but disadvantages as well. Pluses: -Location!!!!! - Roof terrace for meals with splendid views of ancient centre, -Extremely attentive warm & all-embracing level of service. As an example when we've arrived late at night (~2:30AM) the gentleman at the reception filled in our registration cards fully, provided large bottle of cold water (we didn't even ask) free of charge, brought a bowl of ice from closed bar located on another floor; -Relatively clean rooms, newly built & renovated building, shampoo/shower gel/minibar in the room; Minuses: - Soundproof non-existing absolutely, you hear everything going on around in nearby rooms, so no chance to fall asleep without earplugs, - Breakfast uneatable (except just white non-healthy bread), coffee instant only, Nespresso or turkish for extra charge, - Extremely small rooms & bath tubs Could be recommended because of location but if I return to Istanbul I would choose other accomodation.

When we asked for recommendation for a restaurant in a fish market area, they recomended one place but we decided to go to the area and look around. When we are walking around the area a staff from this resraurant found us when we were walking around and followed us into a sweet shop we are in and said the hotel made a reservation, which of course we never asked. We refused to go but it was not a pleasant experience at all. Similar incident happened with the souvenior shop near the hotel. However it will be fare to mention that some other recommendations by the same staff were quite useful.

Fantastic visit, esp the warmth and hospitality of the staff. The owner, Ibrahim made our stay a memorable one as he went out of his way to accomodate. Starting your day in the breakfast room overlooking the Hagia Sophia cannot be beat. Bravo Zeynep Sultan!

Excellent location and incredible staff. It was a plasure for us to stay there. They offered an upgrade room and as they said nothing is impossible. Me and my wife tasted several bottles of wine looking at Haya Sophia. My only advice is the breakfast that coulb be a little more diversificated. Anyway it is not cover the bright of our stay. Congratulations staff of Zynep.

This is our first trip to Istanbul. Hotel Zeynep Sultan was in an excellent location, close to all the landmark buildings. The hotel was very clean and the staff friendly and helpful. Our only complaint was the room was very small and the bathroom small also, hey but this is old Istanbul. Terrace on the roof for breakfast was fabulous with a view of Aya Sophia. Would stay again as proximity is excellent to Old Istanbul, great restaurants and bars close by too. Free internet access at the hotel was also a bonus. Regards

We had an excellent stay in Istanbul. The hotel was ideally situated for all the main tourist haunts. Getting around on public transport was the easiest way of travelling about the city but this hotel was within walking distance of most of the attractions. The hotel staff were more than helpful, infact they were marvelous.

I have marked spaciousness as small, but that what I booked. So for a cozy room it was just perfect. The staff and the Manager were fantastic. Everyone was really very professional and helpful. I've been in Istanbul many times and stayed in different hotels in the main tourist areas. For a small privately owned hotel I would say this was by far the best.

Hotel was generally good overall. Breakfast was good, and the terrace is an excellent location. Quiet and peaceful. The rooms are clean, but one downside was that we were not given the rooms we had booked for (a double). We were told that the hotel was fully booked and the only available room they had was one on the ground floor by the road with twin beds instead of a double bed. Room and bathroom were cramped, but its clean.

Staff and owner are nice and helpful (with perfect english). Location can't be beat for tourist section of Istanbul. Patio view directly overlooks major mosque. Walk anywhere, or Light rail is very convienient. Typical thin walls for Europe, but rooms are like new. Clean and well appointed.

Run by a Turk who knows Western standards since he lived in the States for some time, this is an excellent lodging in Istanbul. Abraham loves showing off his city and is a great host. Access to major sites in Old City is within walking distance with regular bus service to other areas of town. Rooms are quiet, staff is more than accomodating. Airport pickup and free internet was a plus. It was the perfect place to stay.

I’m not sure that I have ever enjoyed a hotel “experience” as much as I did at the Zeynep Sultan Hotel in the Sultanahmet district of Istanbul. The traveler’s expectations of the next accommodation are often not met, or are so low to start with as to be a mere confirmation of the inevitable. Not so at this quiet little hotel just off the main boulevard. All right that’s a bit cheeky, but in fact this hotel is in a great location, great prices, everything works, in fact after a months traveling in Turkey this was the only hotel who’s wireless internet connection actually worked (and was free), the place is clean as can be and without the industrial cleaner smells, room size is adequate, the roof patio/breakfast room is lovely; all of the staff are genuinely friendly and speak perfect English. Ibrahim, the hotel’s owner is an interesting and interested guy who I enjoyed conversing with and spending time with and I am certain that you will too. I look forward to staying at the Zeynep Sultan again next year during my friend’s wedding.

We found this hotel to offer a magical springboard into a fasinating culture. The manager (Ibrahim) is very warm and friendly--combining the best of Turkish hospitality with "western" familiarity. My only concern is that this hotel is so good that it will become too popular, and I might find it difficult to find openings in the future.
