I went to Istanbul for a week and I was a bit worried about the choice of the hotel. At last we chose Kaftan Hotel (after reading lots of web pages...). Lucky choice! The Hotel is in an excellent location ( near Santa Sophia, Blu Mosque, Arasta Bazar, Grand Bazar, Topkapi Palace). The staff is cordial, professional and pleasant (specially Murat!). The double room was nice and right sized, with a big toilet and a big shower; there was also a little table inside with two chairs...The breakfast (generous) was served on a terrace with a beautiful view to the sea...so I think the value for money is excellent. Very few faults: turkish breakfast(salty, but i liked it very much) and the view from my room (not a great landscape); I know they are foolish things but maybe they are important for somebody more exigent. In conclusion I recommend Kaftan Hotel...(above all for young persons/couples).

Small but sweet hotel. Breakfast was good, but without hot dishes and it was on terrace with Mramor sea overview. Hotel located in hotels district and very closely to Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia.

It was okay overall. It was my second time staying in Istanbul. It was a small hotel. It was clean but the rooms are very tiny. The staff were nice. Later on we could get a better hotel for the same price. I recommend it for single traveller not couples.

The location near major sites was superb. The breakfast was good. The small room and the leaking shower were disappoining even though towels were provided to mop up the water. We wouldn't stay at the hotel again even though the location was first rate.

Small, charming hotel, close to major historical sites. Very friendly staff, good speaking English. Rooms are small but has everything you need: hot water, air conditioning, closet, refrigerator. Breakfast - buffet, modest, but good quality. The rooms are clean, sanitary, in general, too.

After 12 hours of bus (Cappadocia-Istanbul), on our arrival at the hotel no one has helped us bring our luggage in the room (no problem, if it were not for the fact that there there is no elevator in this hotel). The room, very small to be occupied by two people, it still had residues of restructuring on the walls, not pleasing to the eye. Finally, to settle the bill (at 22h30 on the same evening) we had to leave to pick up the cash because it was not possible to pay by credit card!

Generally nice place, clean and well located. We felt comfortable. Little negative points: We got a single room (now with a double bed in it, called officially "double room"...). Shower didn't work properly, even after asking. Breakfast ok, but not great (with a very nice view). Friendly helpful staff.

We spent our honeymoon here and had a great experience. The staff is very helpful and nice. Great location in the heart of Sultanahmet. The rooms are small, but nicely furnished. Cable TV, good wireless signal. New bathroom fixtures. Nice view of the water. Great buffet European-style (i.e. not hot food) breakfast. Would go back here for sure. A great deal for the price for a basic hotel.

This small hotel is wonderfully located nearby the Blue Mosque. It is clean, the staff is very qualified, breakfast in terrace is good...what else would you want at their rieasonable prices??? i highly recommend it for short staying...

The hotel is very clean but since the close surroundings are extremely dirty and windows remain opened, you can find cockroaches.

People working in "Kaftan" are beyond any doubts welcoming, helpful and doing all their best to make your stay comfortable - just as it was mentioned in previous reviews. We spent a marvellous week in a tiny but beautiful and comfortable room - by the way, with a sea view from the balcony.

We chose this hotel because of its location and previous reviews. We were not disappointed - the staff did everything possible to make our 4 day stay enjoyable. The rooms are clean and tidy, cozy but comfortable and the double glazing keeps out most of the traffic noise. Continental style buffet breakfast on the top floor is taken looking out over the Bosphorus. Tip. Book your airport transfer(s) direct with the hotel. Completely hassle-free and only a little more expensive than a shared shuttle. Also arrange trips at reception - the prices are the same or lower than with the various agencies in the city. The Bosphorus cruise and Dervish evening were our highlights. All in all a marvellous few days - thanks to the staff at the Kaftan for their special welcome.

A really nice place to stay.Great service, complete breakfast with beautiful views of the city on the terrace are offered. The staff is kind. Although rooms are small, poorly lighted and not extremely clean, the situation, price and kind treat makes the stay worthwhile. Efficient transport service from the hotel to the airport (5 euro). You can buy postcards for 0,5TL and water bottles (500mL) for 1TL in the reception at any time. Really close to the Blue Mosque (less than 5 min on foot) and several restaurants and shops. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone, except people looking for luxury.

Excellent location within short walking distance of all main sights. Comfortable and clean rooms, courteous and helpful staff, satisfactory breakfast (coffee/tea, juices, rolls, preserves, meats, cheese, dried fruits etc) in 4th floor room with excellent view of Bosphorus. Minimal traffic noise, surroundings very quiet (although occasional train runs fairly nearby). Area felt very safe for a single female, wide choice of restaurants and cafes within short walking distance (2 mins) and more a little further away (5+ mins). Small outdoor terrace on ground floor for resting (or smoking). Access to upper floors (and breakfast room) via open-tread spiral staircases: no lift. Hence not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties.

I would certainly recommend this hotel. The rooms are beautifully furnished, it is on a quiet street in a great area, and the staff are very friendly although sometimes they couldn't speak any English. There is one new computer with free high-speed internet, a beautiful restaurant with a fantastic free breakfast, and much more. Don't be afraid to book here.

Quality vs price at its (nearly) best. rooms are new, warm water at every time. breakfast with a great view on the bosporus - fresh orange juice and perfect turkish coffee (attention - both extra charged, but price not worth to speak about). bathroom new and clean. room was bit noisy, because of a building site vis-a-vis. but thanks to turkish speedness, the house is now build up - probably in 1 year the whole street is renovated (Hotel Kaftan was the last renovated building in the street - the others will follow). the whole area will be full of hotel and restaurants - maybe then the "charme" of the typical shabby houses in the backstreets will be lost and what remain is disneyland. tv don't work every time, only 3 english channels. but who wants to look tv in istanbul, isn't it?

Kaftan Hotel exceeded our epectations in terms of friendliness and professionalism of its staff. The location was excellent and very quiet with lovely views of the Marmara sea from the rooms at the back and from the breakfast area. All areas were very clean. The rooms are on the small side but cleverly designed and confortable. The furniture is new and the en-suit facilities were very good.

Siamo stati a Istanbul 4 giorni.

So we booked the Kaftan hotel for 3 nights and we ended up staying for 11. This hotel is amazing. It had just opened two months before we came. So the rooms are super clean and they changed the sheets every single day. The staff was super friendly. All of them: Mustafa (the owner) Ajavid and Adil. The breakfast was wonderful, and they went out of their way to help us out with transportation and activities. There are also laundry facilities, which came in handy after a week in Istanbul's rainy winter. It is located on a quiet street. That was convenient for us since we woke up early every day to go to sights and museums. It's also a five minute walk from the tram, which makes it convenient to catch a ride to pretty much an part of the city. However, all of Istanbul's major sights are within a short stroll from the hotel. I will be coming back to Istanbul, and I will definitely be staying at the Kaftan. Hopefully will come in the summer so I can enjoy the wonderful breakfast on the terrace. Thank you Mustafa, Ajavid and everyone at Kaftan.
