There isn't a photo of the bathrooms, so you will be shocked when you realize that you can't even wash your face properly in there. The bathroom has't got any kind of ventilation so all the steam and everything else come directly into the room. The surrounding is ok and the location of the hotel is excellent.

I traveled to Istanbul in early September. Previously i had read that the hotel's location was different from location indicated on various maps in Internet and it took about 10 minutes to find Hurriyet Hotel after I get out of tramway. Normal time to get to HH is 2 minutes. I booked a single room. I didn't care about AC, big space etc. All I needed was a bed, a bathroom and average breakfast as I came to Istanbul to visit FIBA world championship. The room proved to be extremely small and there were 2 beds. The bath drops into lavatory pan and trash bucket. The square of the room was about 7 sq.m. and the bathroom and WC combined less than 1 sq.m. I stayed at hotel 8 nights and my room was never cleaned during that time as well as bedclothes was never changed. I didn't care - they didn't care. I kept a window open daylong and closed it overnight. It was not so warm in September and closed window protected me against morning noise, so I didn't need AC. Many people complain about steep stairs. It was not a problem for me but I have no idea how to lift a babycarriage to your floor as only one of two wings has elevator. However I saw several families with babies Breakfast is poor but i guess it's OK for a hotel of this level. Turkish sausage and cheese are nasty, you can eat eggs, tomatos, bread, butter, jams, honey etc. There is also a great view of Bosphorus from several tables situated outdoor The best feature of the hotel is location. Sirkegi is probably the best place in Istanbul in terms of transport accessibility. There is also a supermarket next to tram line I had cable TV in my room but TV-set couldn't be turned on. However WiFi connection speed was sufficient to watch online-video The bottomline is that this hotel is OK for a single traveller or for a group of young people, not for anybody else

Very good relationship price /quality. Friendly staff. Free access to Internet. Take precautions when you exit from the lift on descending: If the automatic lights in the lounge are switched off, there is a risk of accident with the unexpected design of the stairs. I recommend this hotel as a good choice if you are looking for just one place to rest. Easy to go from the airport by metro plus tranway.

Good location. Although the single room was small, it was comfortable and clean. The only inconvenience was a too small washbowl in the bath room. It was difficult to wash my face there. The restaurant is nice, especially the view over the sea.

The double room was ok for september even without aircon and no fan as it was cool enough with window open. The most negative was the very steep stairs and very dark staircase. Light cut off almost immediately and you have walk up and down stairs as if you were a blind person. Not very funny with bags and bins and mirrors everywhere that you crash into. They really try to save on electricity there. No lift in the part my room was on top 4th floor.

I was very pleased with the stay. price/quality ratio is excellent, the room is small, but clean and if you plan only to sleep in it like we did, it provides everuthing you need. every major sight is walking distance from the hotel, furthermore it is well connected to other parts of the city by public transport. Mind that the hotel is very close to two major Bosphorus ferry ports, to the central train station and a mosque, so the neighbourhood is rather busy.

As of the very first second of our arrival at the hotel we have been receiving the warmest welcome ever possible to have just imagined. Maybe the place is not Marriott and likewise, however it is absolutely suitable for those who would like to stay in Istanbul without having to pay excess for just one or several overnight stands. We'd normally leave the hotel and return there in the evening, and we really liked that it was cozy and quiet, while the kids had been supervised at our request. Recommending the place definitely, since with this kind of hospitality I’d never think about staying elsewhere.

Hurriyet Hotel accomplished with all you can expect from a basic hotel: - Excellent location (close to main Istanbul attractions, supermarket 100 mts.) - Welcoming and servicing personnel, always willing to help. That`s a very positive point! - Basic Breakfast given - Wi-fi internet free - Very good relation price/quality. No luxuries, not extras. Basic decoration. Definitely an excellent recommendation for budget travellers.

The bathroom smelled like the sewer. We figured out that putting a plastic bag over the drain for the shower helped keep the smell down. Next time I will spring for a 3 star hotel just to be able to breathe in the room.

I would pay more and go to a better hotel as the service and the standard of rooms are not fit even for one star. We booked a quad room and we got a triple. The explanation was kids are free and they are not entitled to separate beds. The toilet and shower are combined with no shower cubicle, so when you shower you wet the toilet tissue and toilet seat. The view from the rooms is non-existent. The AC in my room leaked so I couldn't use it. The rooms were so cramped we barely had enough room to put our suitcases in. The curtain rail was broken on arrival into our room and the staff had the audacity to accuse our children of doing it. Overall a very negative experience I would not have paid any money for. When we booked the hotel at 45 Euros a night we thought it was too good to be true and it was!

We arrived to this hotel 9:30 in the morning, which was too early to check in. The staff at the reception kindly offered us leaving our luggage in their storage room so we could make an initial sightseeing. We came back at 12 when the rooms were supposed to be ready, but we were asked to wait another 5 or 10 minutes. After 20 minutes we asked again if there is any progress and we finally learnt that they were still waiting for the bed linen from the loundry. At the end we had to wait for another hour. Meanwhile another two pairs of visitors were sit in the lobby for "5 minutes". I believe that it was an exceptional situation but it was typical example of the Turkish way of communication. The room and bathroom was ok, very small but we had been warned already from the web so we accepted it as it was. The staff was very friendly, although some of them spoke only poor English. The worst thing about the hotel was the breakfast - definitely the worst breakfast during our two week vacation. Everything tasted like plastic: bread, butter, jam, tea, juice... Overall, although not cheap it was one of the cheapest options to overnight in Istanbul that would provide the comfort of private facilities.

The guys running the place were nice enough, but it didn't stop one of them from overcharging us by 16 TYL. He didn't even try to deny it, and we got our money back after I made it clear that I was not going to let it slide. I would not stay there again. Also, the photos on the webpage are heavily photoshopped.

Extremely well located hotel in a quiet back street, close to all of Istanbul’s main sights. Our first night, in a double room was a disaster – my partner’s 6 foot 5, the bed was only about 6 foot and was wedged between two walls, apparently not very comfortable. We subsequently moved to a twin room, which was much more comfortable. The rooms are small (the Rough Guide to Turkey describes them as spacious – I disagree!) and the bathrooms are tiny (shower over the toilet type set up), but what it lacks in space it makes up for in location – a short walk (or tram ride) up the hill to the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace etc. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast (included in the price of the room) was simple but plentiful (bread, olives, cheese, tomatoes etc.) Only gripe really was that the wifi didn’t work on the top two floors, although they were trying to fix this while we were there. If you fly into Istanbul via Sabiha Gokcen airport, get the E10 bus from the airport to Kadikoy, and then the ferry to Eminönü – the hotel is a short walk from the ferry terminal. This is a much quicker and cheaper way to get into the city. If you’re after somewhere cheap and cheerful, this is the place to stay.

The hotel is run by three brothers who are extremely friendly and helpful in all respects. It has a small four-bed-room which is great for a small family, and children are most welcome. The hotel lies very central so that you easily reach all the main places of interest (Topkapi, Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern, Bosporus tour, Spice Bazaar, Galata Bridge, Archaeology Museum) by 10 min walks. Other places like Grand Bazaar, Sülemaniye Mosque or some of the historical baths like Cemberlitas are still within a 20 min walking distance. The hotel is cheap and clean, it is simple but very good value for money. The pictures of the website reflect very well the actual (small) size and outlook of the rooms, bathrooms are also small but OK, beds are good. It lies a little hidden in a small road so that you don't get the traffic of the main roads. It lies within a district of very nice tourist shops and restaurants which you can take advantage of but can avoid (if you are fed up with the sometimes quite annoyingly active merchants) if you take small parallel roads. We were very pleased with our 6 days stay in the little and very friendly family hotel.

Hotel was cheap and not overall bad, but there were some very negative features: 1.)The water was running very slowly, the bathroom was really tiny, the wash-basin was so small that you could not wash in it. The shelf in the bathroom was broken, no power supply for shaving; 2.)The breakfast was hardly served from 7:00, on the last day the bread arrived only after 7:30; 3.)Electricity was out after a long rain and hotel has no generator, so everything was dark for several hours.
