We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Niles Hotel. The staff spoke English and were very helpful. The hotel is very clean and the rooftop terrace is beautiful. Breakfast is a generous buffet of American items such as scrambled eggs, coffee and juice as well as fresh fruit salad, cereal, yogurt and an array of typical Turkish toppings. There is also a choice of cakes, cookies and breads. We were in Istanbul for 5 days and ate in a variety of places, including street cafes. We tried the famous fresh fish sandwiches at the Galatta Bridge as well as the chicken and lamb sandwiches from the sidewalk vendors. Everything was tasty and we did not get sick from anthing. The desk clerk recommended a "cafeteria" to us on the first night because we wanted something quick. The SAR restaurant is across from the Beyazit tram stop and serves a variety of food cafeteria style. We took the Bosphorous Cruise to Anadolukadagi and ate a delicious seatfood lunch at a dockside restaurant while waiting on the return ferry. The Grand Bazaar is within short walking distance from the hotel and a not-to-miss experience. However, we found most of the locals seemed to be shopping on the side streets between Grand Bazaar and the Spice Market. We were there on a Saturday and the pedestrian only streets were packed solidly with people. It seemed that there were more tourists in the Bazaar than in these streets, which sell everything from underwear and clothing to kitchen supplies and homegoods. We would definitely return to the Niles if we are ever in Istanbul again.

The Niles was excellent value for the price Staff were lovely and very eager to please.Although not in the greatest part of town (in an area of wholesale shops) the Niles is very close to the main thoroughfare. So it was very easy to walk to the main tourist areas, find restaurants and to access public transport. The roof terrace was a really nice place to relax with a cup of tea after a hard day's sightseeing. My only downer was being woken by the call to prayer at half past 6 every morning! - but I guess you get that all over Istanbul.

Service at the hotel was absolutely first class. I was made to feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble. For example, their rooftop dining area is not open for food at dinner. So they offered to recommend, order and deliver an excellent meal for me that I could enjoy in the hotel with a beer from the bar. (The food was wonderful.) When a tour did not arrive on time, they offered to call the tour comapny for me. They offered to organise a taxi, directed the taxi driver in Turkish and wished me farewell out the front like a family farewell. The location is just a 5 minute walk from the Grand Bazaar and other attractions. I can recommend the rooftop bar at sunset with the nearby mosques calling the faithful to prayer as one of my most memorable moments from my time in Istanbul. It is in a narrow street, that would be hard to find for the first time visitor to Istanbul(such as I). So I recommend a taxi from the airport even though the hotel is just 100m or so from the tram line. The rooms and location are fine. But it is the exception service that sets the Niles apart. Highly recommended.

Had a lovely first stay at Hotel Niles. The front desk employees were attentive and helpful, and spoke English well. The breakfasts were amazing, as well as the roof top setting. The roof terrace was also a quite oasis to sit and read or just look at the view. Room was standard size for a European hotel - a bit small but OK. My room was above the Hotel sign and overlooking the street, so was a bit bright at night. Windows did a fairly good job of blocking out noise, but since the hotel was in a work area, there was street noise almost all night long. Earplugs did the trick. Did not notice noise from other rooms or hallways within the hotel itself. As most people have mentioned, there is a fairly steep 4 block walk up a hill to the main street and metro line. Also, traveling as a single woman, it felt safe to be there. Overall, a good bargain and location with great breakfast.

Good combination of price and location. Excellent desk staff that answered every touristy question i threw at them with great patience. The Niles hotel shuttle to the airport was very convenient. Our wake up call at 4:30 a.m. came with coffee and sandwiches, a very nice touch.

Great location for all the old town sights and right next to the tram line which is excellent for getting around Istanbul, very easy to use. The bar on the roof of the hotel is also very handy as its 24hr with a very nice view ! The breakfast is served on the roof as well , great way to start your day with a coffee

Our first visit to Hotel Niles and we had such a splendid welcome from all members of staff. Thoroughly enjoyed most aspects of our stay and would stay again without hesitation. Our only concern was the lack of space in room 105 and its bathroom - we would certainly request a different room on any future booking. To any light sleeper I would suggest that they request a room on the third or fourth floor away from street level which can be a little distracting.

Hotel Niles is a real gem in the dust. It probably competes with the more upmarket and larger hotels nearby in terms of comfort and quality but undercuts them on price. It is a perfectly comfortable hotel and is an excellent base from which to explore Sultanahmet and beyond. The tram is 2 minutes walk or you can walk to the hippodrome in 20 minutes. The rooms are clean with good toiletries and the rooftop cafe/bar is lovely too with an excellent choice at breakfast.

Very welcoming stff- especially Seda at the front desk. Beautiful terrace with great breakfast. Rooms extremely clean with a great A/C system. The only think is that we would have appreciated would be better blankets. Great location- only 10 minutes by walking to the Blue Mosque and Grand Bazaar. Close to a tram station. Overall an excellent stay and would stay there again if fortunate enough to go back to Istanbul.

Great place. Staff was extremly wellcoming. Every morning the hotel manager would show up at the breakfast table and ask "How is your stay, do you have any questions". We loved the beautiful terrace and the rich and delicious breakfast, including some home made turkish pastry. Great location: the Grand Bazar, The Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque were all in walking distance. Rooms were clean and well equipped. The only very little critique would be, that the room service arrived at our room quite late (at about 03:00 p.m.), so once when we came home for a siesta, our room was not made, yet. The room was quite, except that one night two tom cats (there are so many wild cats in Istanbul!) fought noisly under our window. We had a great time in a great place which we do definetly recommend!

Rooms are very small. Some of the things on the breakfast menu I do not recommend. I am not sure you should consider only having bottled water!!! Had a meal at the grand bazzar and it seemed okay?

Noisy rooms, poor, not delicious and not fresh breakfast, uncorrespondence between the photos on the pictures of the rooms and actual property, very small rooms, at least they have Wi Fi.

Fair: the whole staff is so kind they really make you feel like home; a lovely panoramic terrace; a nice room at a convenient price; an excellent position, perfectly located to visit old Istanbul (Bazar, Mosques, etc.). Unfair: unstable WiFi internet connection (maybe a kind invitation to give up working and concentrate into a real Vacation!?!) We'd like to recommend Hotel Niles to all “young” people (from 10 up to 99 years) who are not searching luxury but a comfortable and really pleasant stay.

This is my favorite hotel in istambul and one of my favorite hotels period!! The service is what makes this place so special!! The front desk is extremely helpful. They will answer your questions limitlessly!! The staff is so attentive and kind. You must stay at this hotel if you are going to istambul. It is also right across the street from the infamous "grand bazzare"

We had a wonderful experience in Hotel Niles Istanbul and it is an excellent base to tour historical Istanbul- 10 minute walk from the Grand Bazaar, 20 from the Blue Mosque. For shoppers- proximity to The Grand Bazzar means you can take your goodies home! The hotel is close to an excellent tram system which connects to the ferries, funicular railway and metro systems. Eating out and nightlife are better in Beyoglu but this is a tramride away. The genuine friendliness and helpfulness of the staff in the hotel is really exceptional- particularly Seda who heads-up the front desk. Breakfast on the roof terrace was lovely and the coffee was good! The only negative is that it was the noise at night- but this is common to all Istanbul and not specific to Hotel Niles. Highly recommended.

A very pleasant stay at a perfect location in the old city of Istanbul. The roof top terrace for breakfast and drinks is absolutely gorgeous(stunning views) and makes you forget the noise from the street by night (no traffic but voices). The rooms are tiny, but very clean. The staff is overwhelmingly friendly and helpful. We absolutely enjoyed our stay and felt very much "at home". Great value for money!

We were so thrılled wıth our stay at Hotel Nıles. The staff are exceptıonal! We couldnt have asked for a nıcer and more welcome begınnıng to our holıday ın Istanbul. We ın fact stayed an addıtıonal 2 nıghts over our orıgınal bookıng! AND asked ıf we could book later ın the month when we return to Istanbul but they were fully booked. The staff certaınly make the dıfference ın thıs small famıly owned hotel. The rooms are comfortable and breakfast on the upstaırs terrace ıs enjoyable. We enjoyed our meals at Central Pub - just a stroll along the maın road toward Sultanahmet.
