Very difficult to sleep in this nice and elegant hotel due to the interminable works of the metro and the construction of a new hotel just in front. Nobody understantds how the terribly noise remains day and night. This hotel will be a good option when this works would finish. Avoid also the cab service to transfer you from the airport: it didn't show up! But that was OK, because we havce saved a lot of money! Taxis from

We were two girls from Italy, this was our first time to Istanbul and Ipek Palas was in a perfect location, by 10/15 minutes walk to the main attractions (blue Mosque, St. Sophia, the Grand Bazar, the Spice Bazar, Topkapi and Bosforo Channel), if I come back to Istanbul I'll choose the same hotel!

The rates were very high as given by venere.com.i had booked for 3 nights and paid euro 600.no free airport pickup or drop.Venere should have included that at least.most properties provide free pickup and drop.

I had a single room which was adequate but there was not a great deal of space to move about in. The bed was right up against 2 walls. It was very clean and beautifully presented however. The dining room had great views across the Bosphorus which was great every morning at breakfast.

The hotel was very good value for money although the room we were allocated was extemely small and too little storage, the breakfast was also very good. The staff were helpful and friendly, especially the receptionist. It was close to the main attractions and the ferry terminal and we would definately stay there again.

The hotel looks very nice at first glance, the rooms are small and the bathrooms smaller. The service is good according to Turkish standards, breakfast area very nice, be ready for Turkish breakfast. If you need a morning wake-up call you better take your own alarm clock I never got it right. The front desk people very kind but limited english speaking. Good stay for the price paid. Try to get the lower floor rooms because if there is a party on the top floor it gets a litle noisy.

We spent a family weekend at Ipek Palas (4 people in a family room), and would definitely recommend this hotel, especially for leisure. Our flat was not very large, but clean, and furniture were new. Breakfast was good, and enjoyed in a very panoramic room, looking over Marmara Sea. The hotel is quiet, only exception the muezzin's song 4 times a day, one of them in the night, but that's surely not hotel's fault! The location is fantastic: 15 minutes walk from all Istanbul's best (Topkapi, Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Hammam, Grand Bazaar, Galata Bridge), 2 minutes from tram's stop and Sirkeci rail station. Ideal if, like ourselves, you have little time to stay. Less ideal if you travel for business, since the business district is a bit off, and Istanbul's traffic is very chaotic. Staff were wonderful. They answered any of our requests, and very patiently set up for us a number of hard to arrange shuttle trips between the hotel and Sabiha airport. Sultana night show is quite enjoyable, dinner and dance show are overall quite worth the 50 euro per person fee. Overall: go confident to Ipek palas!

This was a good hotel. At the back, there was not such so noisy construction going on; but it was very near the centre of Sultanahmet area. There was a young man at the door who worked for the hotel restaurant who hassled us whenever we went in and out of our hotel; which was a big nuisance; but that is a custom in Istanbul. The air conditioner stopped one night and the night time young man was unable to set it up. Friendly to very friendly receptionists; internet not so efficient. Some rooms are bigger than others. A good stay. I recommend it. Superb breakfast. Blue mosque view not so great, though.

Convenient, but tiny rooms and cheap look. I called for a blanket, as there was only a sheet on the bed, and I received another sheet. They said that there were no blankets available.

The hotel is at walking distance from most of the main tourist attractions and both main bazaars (grand and spices). Very well situated. We had a two-room corner suite (being a couple with two kids) with three windows and a small balcony in the main room, and one large window in the second room for 80 Euros per night. The bathroom was a little small and the shower was extremely small (I could hardly fit in it !!) Personnel is extremely kind and helpful if all you need is information. If you need something doing, for example another pillow in the bedroom or the TV or air-con to be fixed, you may need to remind them twice or more for it to actually happen. Apart from this, service is spotless. We had no experience of the grumpiness reported in other comments. We found the restaurant on the rooftop to be excellent for an evening dinner with a splendid view if you're too tired to roam the city. The food is lighter (healthier) than many places in Istanbul, and prices are decent. We ate there twice and enjoyed a friendly atmosphere, and dessert (fruit) and tea were compliments of the restaurant manager. A free internet point in the hotel lobby was an appreciated plus. I honestly believe it was well worth the cost. But we have never tried any other hotel in Istanbul, so we have no parameters for comparisons. The minibus the hotel offers for the trip from and to the airport can seat up to 12 people (as we were), was confortable , had air-con, and was on time each time we used it (we used it to go to faraway parts of Istanbul)

It's a very good hotel in Istanbul, in the middle of the ancient area (5 min. to Santa Sofia, Yeni Cami,Eminonu). The service it's excellence and the staff is very efficent and friendly. For breakfast you have a marvellous panorama over the ancient city.

Excellent location and staff, not bad breakfast(included in price). Our room(50euro) was rather small (OK for short stay), but clean and quite. Meals for any choice everywhere. Clean city, interesting tours.

When we came to Ipek Palace we thought we were at the wrong hotel, it seemed so much nicer than what the price would indicate. The renovation which must have been going on during earlier reviewers' stay is now finished and the hotel is in an amazing condition. Fantastic breakfast, clean and comfortable rooms, great service and incredible value for money.

My wife and I were very happy to be picked up at the airport (Ataturk)at 11:30pm for 20e after we missed two flights from Canada. (I had to send an email from London - Heathrow at the last minute.) The hotel was excellent, but is being fixed up, inside and out, by an army of workers so it didn't look it's best. Our room was very good with a new bathroom w/bathtub and the all-you-can-eat breakfast on the roof was very good with a wonderful view of Istanbul and our Cruise Ship in the distance. We found the people in the surrounding neighborhood very friendly and helpful. The only disappointment was the taxi driver who overcharged us and tried to run over about 5 people on the 1.5 kilometer trip to the ship.

The hotel is surprisingly cheap for Istanbul/Internet, but the location is superb and otherwise it's OK as well. BUT: one has to take into account that sometimes noise (from in- and outside) can be heard, and that the desk service is not the best (e.g. had mailed to be picked up at Atatürk Airport - but nothing has moved, nobody was there, nobody knew anything). On the other hand, a taxi service for less than the price indicated (25 YTL) to Atatürk Airport was available, by the reception desk. You also may have to pay upon arrival for the whole stay - without seeing the rooms ... But it was fine, for that price, and for an extended weekend in IST, and for the very good site it is - just 200 m from the ferry and in the mid of things. Breakfast buffet was very good as well.

Ipek palace hotel is located in Sultanahmet disctrict near Sirkeci tram station. Haya Sofya, Blu Mosque and Topkapi palace can easily reached by walk or with one metro stop. My double room and bathroom were spacious and clean. A friend of mine was in another room but it wasn't so spacious. The only flaw was that you can easily hear noises and talks from other rooms. Employees were competent and morning breakfast good.

My stay in this hotel was great! The price is very low and it is in a very central area of this beautiful town. You have just to get use to the prayers coming from the mosques and to the noyse of Istambul (it is a 11 million people city)but the hotel is in a little and quiet street. The view from the breakfast room is amazing. You have free access to internet from the hall. The staff is very helpful. It is very difficult to find a so nice hotel for a so low price somwhere else in Europe!

The rooms are noisy and small, thats is the worst of it.The breakfast is standard turkish fare (cheeses, olives, tomato, pastries, eggs etc.)but there is plenty of it and it is fresh. On the other hand the location, the bathrooms and veiw from the roof top restraunt are very good. The staff are very welcoming, helpful and friendly. For a cheap hotel it was very good value.

Had a great stay. Staff were helpful and eager to lend us a hand whenever we asked, like calling cabs, suggesting tours etc. It isn't situated in the best area of town, but it's a really short distance from the great sights and monuments of istanbul, plus overall quality vs price rate is really great. we paid somethin like 25 Eur per double room per night incl breakfast which is almost nothing. The place was neat and tidy and our room (which was cleaned and beds were made every day) was small but cozy and warm. A definite recommendation!

Great location near trams, ferries, trains, restaurants and main post office. Short walk to Sultanahmet area (mosques, palace, etc). Room was noisy at times because of Metro construction site adjacent to hotel (will be fine when it's finished!). Nice roof terrace with views of the bosphoros at breakfast.
