The staff was pretty clueless with regards to practically all questions (including the managers). They had no idea about the area; they did not give the map of the city -- even though I was paying €250 a night (they jacked up the prices because of the IMF/World Bank conference that took place during my visit). I asked for an iron -- they said that they do not provide irons and that their ironing service is closed (it was about 5 pm). I needed an iron for that evening, and asked for their suggestions -- the staff only came up with "I am sorry, there is nothing we can do". I don't think this is the solution one should expect from a 4 star expensive hotel. In addition, I asked for a room with one double bed, and they tried to put me in a room with two tiny single beds. I refused to go into that room, and so they tried to put me into another room right next to the noisy elevator. I refused to go there as well. This hotel is normally worth not more than €100 and that is really the right price for it. When I pointed out that I am paying 2.5 times as much -- they finally gave me a decent room. However, I don't see why I needed to haggle over this -- they had my room requirements in their reservation system, and all they had to do is allocated the room that was requested to the person requesting it. I stayed for 4 nights, so I got full exposure to this "amazing" hotel. I really would not be going back there.

I certainly recommend this hotel to a visitor in Istanbul. The close Taksim square offers good communication to Sultanahmet (bus) and other parts of Istanbul (Metro, funiculair). Landmarks in Sultanahmet are well known. The modern elegant shopping center Cevahir somewhat less so.

I couldn`t understand why there is one double bed and single bed in room rather than two single beds or just one double bed instead. This may be one reason room is not very spacious. Otherwise enjoyed staying thoroughly.

This is an excellent hotel in a perfect location and well maintained. The room I got was spacious and very clean. The room-cleaning service was very good as well. I don't have a single complaint. Excellent value for the money.
