Golden Horn Hotel - Istanbul

Nice hotel situated 5 minutes from the Grand Bazaar and spices market. nice veiw to the mosques and the Istanbul skyline. Nice breakfast terrace.

Service was a bit brusk when I first arrived, but its hard to dispute that this place is a great value for the first time tourist to Istanbul. Right in the center of the historic district, superb views from breakfast room, large traditional turkish breakfast buffet, good internet. Taxis struggle a bit to figure out exactly where it is, peculiarly enough.

I must confess that I have been in Istanbul 4 times and this won't be the last.I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights with my mother. The view from our room was the most incredible I've ever seen, the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia from our window. Very clean room, quite wide and a good toilet. Breakfast was lovely and generous, and the service very kind with us. There is no need to say that next time I will book again this hotel.

We had a very comfortable stay for 1 night. All your staff were very professional and hospitable.It has got most Istanbul view it is in old city. We will definitely promote you and Golden Horn Hotel to all our friends and colleagues who wish to visit Istanbul.

The Golden Horn is ideally situated for tourist purposes and is very quiet (apart from the wake-up muezzin at 5.30 from the close Blue Mosque ;-). The rooms are very small - the difference of the "deluxe room" to the standard is only due to the furniture. It was clean but very smelly and far apart from a 4star hotel compared to Central European Standards. The staff is superficially very friendly and polite, but obviously not very motivated and/or competent. Simple questions for an address of a well-known hammam couldn't be answered and the complaint about the room heating which was not possible to cut off was just ignored. The variety of the breafast buffet was huge, but unfortunately of rather low-to-medium-range quality, e.g. "chemical" orange juice (supplement for freshly squezed 10 lira / 5 euros!) and a disapointing coffee: less would definitely be more. And: A poor Nescafe on the breathtaking terrase with a really great view will cost you 6 liras / 3 euros). Difficult not to get the feeling of beeing riped-off! (But that seems to be a slight Turkish problem in general and not just at the Golden Horn!)

Position of the Hotel perfect to reach almost all sightseeing items by foot.No sense of danger in the surroundings.Beautyful view from the terrace towards Blue Moschee, s.Sofia and Bosforo. Travelling wih a friend we had two double rooms for single use, very comfortable. The rooms did not have the sun all day long , so the temperature was perfect even not using the AC.

Fantastic view, but in the night very loud!

The prices quoted have nothing to do with the actual rooms. Upon arrival, you are left with alternative than to pay at least 20 Euros to get a decent room.
