Cheap and moderate hotel, location just next to center. You can reach the most important sights by walk. You couldn´t expect any more for the price paid.

If you only are interested by the price, choose it. But if you want to sleep and don't like the night club situated on the top of the hotel (you hear the music from the first floor to the last), if you like real coffe, if you don't want to walk into the garbage in front of hotel entrance, DON'T CHOOSE IT.

I'm sure $80 AUD would be considered cheap in Istanbul considering the hotel is near all the touristic places. So sadly, you get what you pay for. You may want to ask to see the room before you stay there. I tried to have a bath but there was no plug and the bell boy (who is the only staff there after hours) said there wasn't any plugs in the hotel. So, my fiance decided to be creative and found a way to block the drain and we filled the bath. After getting in and sitting for about 3-5 mintues I noticed a white substance floating in the water. I don't know of many substances that can remain solidified in hot water so I jumped out. I didn't feel good to have even a shower in there after witnessing it. Unfortunately I didn't have enough money to go to another hotel and it was about 1am. Also I was leaving for China that afternoon so my fiance tried to calm me down and told me to try to ignore it and enjoy my last 12 hours in Turkey. The next day we went to take advantage of our free breakfast. Be warned; The boiled eggs were old, the teaspoons and saucers were dirty and the attendants don't hurry too much to clear tables. It's a standard thing in Turkey but the attendants smoke so I was panicked to think they may not wash their hands after smoking either (purely an assimution there). Oh and if you love animals do not look into the fish pond, the poor guys hardly had enough water in their tank that their fins were sitting out of the water. This stay was advertised at 40 EURO so the room you get is small, very noisy and the bathroom is quite average. Being a girl from the countryside I'm quite easy going, but it really was a disgrace in some respects. The highlight was that the beds were actually quite nice and there was free wireless. If you don't care for too much it's nice and cheap. If you want cleanliness DON'T bother! I saw previous comments about the location, it's an alleyway hotel so you can imagine being robbed in that kind of area, but really th

I stayed at Bekdas Hotel for 3 nights at the end of October 2008 during which time I ran in the Istanbul marathon. I chose this hotel due to my budget and the actual hotel location which is 3 tram stops from the Sultanahmet district with the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and the Basillica Cistern amongst other tourist traps. The historic Cemberlitas Turkish bath which I totally recommend is just 2 stops away and the enormous Grand Bazzar with over 3000 market stalls is just one stop away... haggle, it's the Turkish way! The location of the hotel is off the main road from the University / Laleli tram stop. Locate the Kent hotel as a landmark to your right then walk down the street and turn left, right and then left, this will bring you to the hotel. It is easy to get lost in the maze of back streets especially at night and as a word of caution beware of the sudden drops in some of the pavements - Istanbul is a hilly city! I had a double room on the 4th floor with a small balcony and a fantastic view across the bay. At 5pm the air filled with the call to prayer from numerous minnerettes nearby! The room was spacious with cable TV and the bathroom was clean and spacious - both were cleaned daily by the chamber maid. A substantial continental breakfast was served in the restaurant on the 6th floor with fantasic elevated views across the coastline. Evening meals were available too with a fully stocked bar, a pleasent place to eat and drink. Entertainment was also on hand by way of a singer and a PA system. I was 2 floors below and could hear the proceedings clearly so if you require some peace a room a few floors below is recommended although it didn't bother me. The hotel staff are very hospitable and while some speak little if any English those who did tried to be accommodating and that is worthy of note, I wish the same could be said of my attempts to master the Turkish language! I would highly recommend Bekdas Hotel.

The hotel is not located in SultanAhmed, it is located at LALELI, which is 5 minutes walk from hotel. I was not paying much, so i was not expecting much but with what i paid, i was very much satisfied. NAGHDED the person working on reception was vey helpful and friendly. Apart from that other people on reception were not rude but not friendly either. Hotel location is not perfect but not bad either. Onething amazing about the place is its breakfast. The location was good but my first impression was "WHERE AM I" as it is not located on the main raod but than i got used to it.
