Well located, easy to find, better then on the pictures (except for the terrace, the terrace is the only thing that does not match the pictures). Wonderful bathroom, rooms are spacious enough and nicely decorated.

Albatros is simple but nice. You get what you pay for so don't expect too much. If you have a problem with your room, simply ask to be changed and they will do it. Our first room was very nice until we went to use the shower which was horrible and flooded the entire bathroom. We didn't have any hanger and had to ask three times to get them and finally got them when I refused to leave the front counter until I had them and he had to search in three rooms to find them. Buildings in Istanbul are jam-pakced together so it was no shock when we were right next to construction on a new building that awoke us each morning. Breakfast is the same every day... bread, slices of meat, cheese, and vegetables. They claim they have internet, but don't plan on it working (it is only strong enough for Skype). In fact the connection password seemed to change quite frequently and we had to constantly ask for it, which was a bit strange. The staff is nice and they do try hard. All in all... not bad. Again, you get what you pay for and for a budget traveller, this is a good place. Just know what you are getting in to. It is definitely better than a hostel.

The hotel is in dire need of renovation. But is well-located to tourist sights. The breakfast was adequate but not great.

A litle small. The WC room was very poor. The shower floor was in bad conditions. The water fluw over the floor.

I liked the hotel. I am a single older woman and felt safe here. I took the train into town and the hotel was within walking distance. The hippodrome is about three blocks away up hill. I had three problems. My shower had a large amount of mold and mildew in it, the door to the outside courtyard opened the first part of my stay but not the last part of my stay, and the first part of the week a number of German students congregated in the hall and around the steps and were very loud. I didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel, so price wise this was the perfect place. All the staff was wonderful to me. Always had something to say or had a smile. If your a tourist I would recommend it, if on business I wouldn't.

This hotel was adequate for budget vacationers, but shouldn't have been listed as three stars. It's tolerably clean, but is rather noisy and just isn't as nice as the three star we stayed at in Athens.

I stayed in Istanbul for 2 nights. The hotel was ok. Good value for money. Don't expect nothing very luxurious, but for the price you pay is ok. Staff is very nice and helpfull. The hotel is VERY well located. The rooms are a bit small but nice. The breakfast is not great. It has air conditioner so for the summer is a great plus! As i said great value for money.

Not a bad budget hotel, decent rooms at a reasonable rate. Breakfast a bit lacklustre compared to some other places but no real complaints.

acoustic insulation is lacking: I could listen any voice from the corridor a the inner courtyard, sometimes very late at night. hotel provided trasportation from the ariport on arrival for 45 liras: i discovered later that the taxi rate for this run is not more than 20 lira and there is plenty of taxis at the airport

NOT RECOMMENDED. I stayed 4 nights: room had balcony but window was totally obscured with a cover and stucked from outside to avoid to exit (due to balcony renovating work in progress): couldn't either have day light in the room. After 1st night staff didn't clean the room (I asked for next day). 2nd day was very cold in Istanbul: coming back to the hotel in the evening room was cold, no addtional cover for bed: asked to reception to switch on general heating. 3rd day I found WC waterbox broken: couldn't use the toilet, staff said could be repaired only the day after (when I'd leave, of course :( ). REALLY TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE: maybe just my unlucky case, by the way...

My experience at the Hotel Albatross was quite good, and I would certainly recommend it for the traveller who is looking for a quality hotel at a very attractive price, especially given the location of the Hotel, near some of the main attractions of the Sultanahmet area of Istanbul. The service staff was excellent. My only complaint is NOT with the Hotel or the staff, but with some rather noisy and obnoxious guests (whose nationality I will not disclose), but even in this case, I heard one of the service staff attempt to quiet them down out of courtesy and respect for the other Hotel guests. Overall, again, my experience at the Albatross was quite good, I would stay there again with NO hesitations, and would also recommend it for someone who wants a nice, decent hotel room at a budget price.

We were very pleased with this hotel, especially considering the price that we paid. The personnel were great and the cleaning service perfect. The only small negative thing was that the room has not been renovated in a while, so that it looked a bit shabby - but then again this is a budget alternative. The hotel is in a very calm area in Sulthanamet, behind the Blue Mosque. For us it provided a perfect starting point for our visits to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and the Topkapi Palace. The area also had some really nice restaurants - we can recommend the Kebap House that is situated on Ayasophia street a bit up from the hotel.
