We first had a room in the garden which was infested by mosquitos. The room had holes around the air conditionning so the mosquitos came inside. The AC was extremly loud. The room was not very nice. So we changed room and we moved to another building which was brand new and our stay was then perfect. Neverthless, the owners and especially the oldest lady were unprofessionnal and extremly not helpful nor friendly. The hotel was right next to the beach.

Just be careful with the slipery tiles- several people fell and one actually busted their head open on thoses slick tiles. The front desk people range from very nice to quite rude. The overall stay was great.

The Castle rooms were fantastic, location was great and the property was lovely. Service was meh. Watch out for the place where the included breakfast is served (Buho's)--if you order anything extra they'll try and overcharge you. Overall, though, I would definitely go back here. Price on venere.com is better than their website.

We stayed in the Castle in a King. The room was nice and spacious but very spartan. The bed was a rather thin and lumpy on a plywood platform - not that comfortable. There were no comfortable chairs in the room - just a couple of metal ones with thin pads. The first day we were there the pool was pretty dirty so did not attemp to use it again.

This is our second trip to Isla Mujeres, but the first time we stayed at Maria del Mar. The rooms were clean and large, but we were surprised by the sparse furniture. We were also confused by the main building bearing the sign Maria del Mar being across the street and slightly down fron the hotel itself. The main courtyard and pool which are very beautiful is not infact a part of the hotel, but a adjacent to the main building. The restaurant seemed adequate, but advertised that it was open from 7am til 9:30 pm, which it was not. A beautiful beach, however, was just steps from the hotel, which we found lovely. If we were to stay in Isla again, we would consider this an option as it was clean, not terribly expensive, and the location was great in terms of beach.

I had to cancel my trip and they took all my money and gave me nothing back. A business that doesn't give a damn about its customers. They could have taken one night and then said they would give me a reduced rate if I came back within a year but they just took all my money.
