Hotel Parco Aurora - Ischia

1st time at Parco Aurora, though have been to Ischia before. Most guests are older German couples & young Italian families; not unusual on the Island. Welcome at check-in was friendly yet sparse; wasn’t properly introduced to many of the facilities/services. However, location is optimal for visiting shops/restaurants of Ischia Porto & Ponte & surrounding attractions. Beach area reserved for DicoHotels is toward the end of Lido d’Ischia; not as in photos. The building is well-maintained; interior décor typical, a bit dated. Room was spacious but simple, fairly clean & quiet, with an eastern side-sea-view balcony. Washroom also spacious & shower pressure great; plus plenty of towels. There was a tiny TV with a few Italian & German channels. Wi-Fi wasn’t available in rooms, only in public areas; wired internet was accessible in manager’s office – no extra fee. Room service is limited, not 24-hr as indicated; special requests should be made in advance. While I didn’t eat at restaurant much, it’s efficiently run, & the food seemed local & fresh – breakfast can be eaten outside. From rooftop, there’s a lovely view of the Bay, & 2 outdoor pools – 1 heated, 1 mineral – no further info available. Pool bar is open in the day until lounge opens in evening…everything closes by 12am. The bartenders are awesome! The staff, some of whom speak English &/or French, is polite & helpful – front desk was happy to provide assistance with trips. The Director was professional when we eventually met & open to hearing suggestions for improvement. Website isn’t very descriptive; call hotel directly with questions – they don’t necessarily respond to emails. Despite some initial misgivings, overall experience was positive. Compared to nearby competition in same class/price range, it may be the fairest alternative relative to quality & cost. If the owners make some tweaks & continue to commit to client service, its 4 stars will be merited.

Caters for older clientele; mainly German. Rigidity and inflexibility of dining room staff over where you can sit in the often empty dining room reminiscent of school or day care centre. The private beach is not adjacent to hotel but is a good five minutes walk away. However, front desk staff very helpful and the location is good for walking into town centre.
