Hotel Miramare e Castello - Ischia Ponte, Ischia

If you have a problem with stuffed-shirts - that is formal hotel service, dining, etc... - then this hotel may not be right for you. If however you want a little more attention and service for a decent price than your average hotel then you've come to the right place. The desk staff, while a little curt, were always available to help - when I asked where to go to rent a scooter for the day, they simply asked what time I wanted to have it ready and they would make sure it was waiting and ready to go, they contacted a rental agency and all I had to do was sign the rental agreement. While the money spent for the room was not that bad, we ended up spending about an equal amount eating the hotel dinner and utilizing the spa services. I would recommend against the dinner and suggest, as others have, to simply go find one on the streets - Coco over by the castle is a great choice. The room we got was perfect, one facing the sea and it had a little sitting area and tall ceilings which helped the room feel less cramped.

The staff (especially the waiters and chef) were very professional and friendly. The location is close to Ischia Port, but make sure you take a taxi or a city bus to the hotel from the boat. We read that you could walk on one trip advisor page and it was way too long (45 minutes). The local bus (15 or 7) are cheap and will take you all over the place (from the port to the hotel if you like-you buy the tickets in any tobacco or market shop all over the island). The hotel restaurant was excellent and very accommodating of my wife's gluten free diet (they made corn spaghetti for her one night and rice pasta the next). It is very romantic to sit outside on the beach-terrace area ini back and eat dinner in the evening. The only small negative was they were surprised when we showed up for dinner each evening. Apparently they expected us to make a reservation (although it was never full to capacity). It would be very nice if they explained that during the check-in process. Also, the maids came into our room many times each day, then to bring towels, to clean up, then to bring the little chocolate mints, etc. It was a little unnerving to see things changed in the room as we went in and out during the day (swimming and getting massages, etc). That little bit aside, it was a great experience and the view from the roof is excellent. The breakfast was great and they went out of their way to have some gluten free items for my wife's diet for breakfast. And they have scrambled eggs. You will be happy about this in Italy as it gets old not having any eggs or only hard boiled eggs in the smaller hotels. We highly recommend the place and will stay their again next time we go to Ischia.

I loved the Miramare e Castello. The location is beautiful and quiet, and the more active areas for shopping and night life are within short distance by bus or taxi. My room was very comfortable, the maid service perfect, and the view beautiful. My only advice: book your own taxi and ferry--the hotel is efficient in arranging these transfers however it costs at least twice as much for the service.

This hotel has a lovely location on the beach near the old town. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Overall I was delighted with my stay, breakfast was just ok but the views from the rooftop terrace made up for this. Slight pretentious, old money atmosphere but this had more to do with the guests rather than hotel & staff.

Fantastic Hotel, great welcome, excellent view, nice beach and perfect location. It is absolutely worth to stay there. The breakfast on the terrace is breathtaking and dinner at the open beach front is unforgettable.

Miramare e Castelo is a beautiful hotel in a great location. The close proximity to the castelo made it extra special. The room was somewhat small, but very clean and well appointed. The staff was very helpful and service was excellent.

It is always very friendly

The staff was absolutely great. We were treated very well and were allowed to keep our room until 5 the next day. I'd highly recommend this hotel.
