Super location in Zurich, close to restaurants, bars & shopping. Clean and spacious accomodation with reasonable price. Would highly recommend even if no internet service.

This was a true find, a lovely location by the river reached via a covered timber bridge. Spacious room, very helpfull staff who were able to provide us with an early breakfast on request. Dining room excellent.

We had a fantastic stay. We should have stayed longer. I highly recommend this place to other. Out of all the places we have been to during our holiday this was the best place to stay. Well done all the staff at Steinbock.

The pictures don't do the hotel justice. It is on the edge of town (Wilderswill), just over a covered wooden bridge, along a brilliant blue stream, next to a historic church. Rooms were roomy and clean. Staff was helpful and spoke English well. Some rooms have balcony/porch access. A 4-5 min walk from the train stop. Within walking distance to Interlaken. Wilderswill is an adorable town with great hiking trails and more reasonable prices than Interlaken.

Service is fine, it's a bit of a Marie Celeste job on Sundays, but you're given a main key, good value, easy access from local train station but the clincher is the surroundings, the brook, the mountains, of course, the church and cemetary next door, and the path that leads from there up to the mountains - restaurant closed on Sunday - the distance from Interlaken is no problem as the connections to Wilder Wil station are excellent (I wish I had been informed about the local train/bus station beforhand).
How to reach Hotel Gasthaus Steinbock
By car
From Bern or Lucerne: leave the motorway at Exit 25 continue in the direction of Wilderswil / Grindelwald. On arrival in Wilderswil, take a left over the railway crossing towards the Schynige Platte Carpark, go past the Hirschen Guesthouse. Just after the narrow wooden bridge (about 50m) you will see the Steinbock Guesthouse.
By public transportation
Take a train to Interlaken-Ost, Change for the Jungfrau train and get off at Wilderswil station. The hotel is a three-minute walk away.
Or, take a train from Bern to Interlaken-West. Change to the No 5 Bus to Wilderswil station. The hotel is a three-minute walk away.
The taxi from both Interlaken train stations costs about CHF17.-
