Hotel Derby - Interlaken

Great stay! Friendly staff that was very knowledgeable about area and activities. Rooms medium to large in size - very clean and quiet. Private bathroom although shower is very small. Location a few blocks from town center - very close to everything yet quiet also. Beautifully landscaped garden perfect for the evenings. One of our best hotels in Europe! Also delicious European breakfast included with room.

Great stay in Derby. Close to the business district. Friendly service. Recommend the Swiss craft company next door for all adventure sports...I went sky diving and canyoneering here.

A very friendly staff, taking care of each and every detail! It was a pleasure to spend a couple of days there.

Hotel Derby is close to both train stations but Interlaken West is really too close, it is also close to city center. You should try "El Azteka" restaurant in city center if you like Mexican food.

Everything about this hotel, except the attitude of the manager, was good. The hotel was clean, well located and comfortable. The facilities were what you would expect given the low price. However, beware if you require more than the regulation smile and regulation service! There were three occasions on which our party of three women and one infant needed goodwill from the manager, and received none: 1. When we arrived after a long tiring drive, our first priority was warm milk for baby. Apparently it was impossible to supply us with hot water as the kitchen "was closed". No alternative was suggested or offered. Baby went to bed with cold milk. 2. When we arrived back after the long tour to Jungfrau Joch (fantastic, yes!), we needed to get something to eat, but baby needed to sleep. We were told that it was not possible for us to bring food back, as "takeaways" were not allowed in the rooms. Torn between hunger and the need to put baby down, two of us went out and got a takeaway which we then ate IN THE CAR since the baby monitor's range just reached there. This was one of the more humiliating experiences I've had on a holiday. No alternative was suggested or offered. 3. The day we checked out we left our baggage at the hotel and picked it up later on. On our return, my mother, who is 77, needed the WC. When I asked, the manager told us that he had no "PUBLIC toilets"! As if we had just walked in off the street, rather han having just spent two days in his establishment. I was personally disgusted. No alternative was suggested or offered. I believe one should never judge a person by one misdemeanour. Even two can be overlooked. But three - and so close together - indicates a pattern. When I travel the best thing is meeting kind, generous, warm people. Nothing is so off-putting to me as someone who smiles and is efficient, but is not able to show human warmth, flexibility and empathy.

Very Friendly staff! The rooms were great and so was the location of the hotel,it was not too far from the ski lodges. The hotel is within walking distance from the shopping area.
