We stayed here in October 2009 and loved the location, off a busy street but not too loud, very well located across the river from the main part of town but in easy walking distance. The rooms were very large and comfortable with all the modern amenities including WiFi. The owners were more than helpful even letting us store items in their fridge and letting us park our car in the garage the day we departed. We will definitely be back!

When we approached the hotel, we did not think it was what we expected. The front is deceiving. Once inside the space opened up. The rooms were spacious and clean. The staff was friendly, helpful and attentive. The location was perfect. You overlook the river and just cross the street to get to the Old City. It is only a 5 minute cab ride to the Airport.

The hotel is centrally, near the center of Innsbruck and near the bike-way on the river. The hotels rooms was large and confortable, and with a great wiew. Great hotel.

Huge room overlooking the river. Very friendly staff. ideal location walking distance from station. No lift so you have to carry bags up stairs could be a problem for older people. Great place to stay they had wifi.

We liked the hotel, the rooms are very clean and spacious. The location is very central, old city centre is within walking distance. What we did not like so much was the breakfast - not so much choice. Also, we could not get any eggs for breakfast. All in all - a good hotel, the staff was kind and flexible. We are a family of four who stayed at the Schwarz Bar for two evenings in March of 2009. We had one double room and one room with two twin beds. The twin bed room had a strange, but functional, bed configuration it was on the street side of the hotel, which made it a little noisy. The double room was adequate, clean and functional although nighttime reading in bed is a challenge due to poor lighting. The bathrooms were also clean although somewhat small. Reception was accommodating and generally pleasant. There is no lobby nor elevator/lift so be prepared to carry your bags possibly up three flights. The hotel is convenient to the center of activity in Innsbruck, which was important to us since we were on vacation. Breakfast is “cold” but adequate consisting of rolls/bread, cereal, breakfast meats, coffee, tea, juice, etc. If you’re driving the hotel is easy to find presuming you can read a map, parking is in a public garage, with reserved hotel parking places, about a five-minute walk from the hotel. Overall our stay was pleasant, should we return to Innsbruck we would probably seek alternative lodging for variety purposes.

The room was large and quiet and I slept well, which was the most important thing. Breakfast was nothing special, but quite adequate. I was disappointed in the "welcome" (no-one in sight when I arrived, then the owner popped out into a sort of cage in the hall and didn't do much more than tell me where the room was), in the room's being on the third floor with no lift (but I should have realised this possibility from the website), and in the owner's saying over and over again as I had breakfast "Check out ten o'clock, check out ten o'clock", as if she couldn't wait to get rid of me. For what it turned out to be like, I thought the price was a bit steep.

It was the first time for us to visit Innsbruck and it has been a very nice journey. The hotel was very nice, the people vey friendly. The location of the hotel was really convenient. If we will go to Innsbuck another time we will certainly go to the same hotel.

I was given a quiet room (which I appreciated) on the third floor (no elevators) with a balcony and great view of the mountains. Good thing I've travelled quite a bit alone, and knew exacly what I wanted to see, do and visit and am very independant cause I would have felt quite "alone", since I'm a single traveller and I've been working in the tourism industry for very long, I felt the welcoming was a bit cold and the lack of interest and information given to guests at first (first 5 days) missing... Good thing I stayed a hole week! But in all, I enjoyed my stay since it was my yearly vacation and needed quietness, relaxation and wonderfull scenery. P.S. They have a wonderful little restaurant on the premises, have dinner there, the food is good, fresh, well prepared and not expensive.

Huge, very clean room but some of the size should have been sacrificed for a bigger bathroom which was very small. Excellent location for touring old town section of Innsbruck. Would definitely stay there again.

Absolutely ideal spot for a one night stay in Innsbruck - short walk to everything - very modern well equipped room - breakfast service warm and friendly and quick self serve.

This hotel is placed at walking distance from everything one can visit in the beautiful town of Innsbruck, and I will surely come back again for Christmas markets

The restaurant was very good. The owner is the chef and did a great job on the breakfast and meal we had in the evening.

The Staff were very friendly and gave us an excellent service. Very good breackfast and we ate one night and it was very good. The location was excellent. we loved the place.

Hotel Schwarzer Bar is in an excellent location, across the bridge from the old city. It is very picturesque. There are no public spaces (which we knew in advance), but we were not in our room very much. Breakfast was as expected from a 3 star hotel, with no hot food.

A fantastic small hotel with great rooms, very friendly welcome and substantial breakfast. Great location just across bridge from Innsbruck historic area. Only slight drawback was traffic noise and some noise from passers by overnight.

The Schwarzer Bar is an excellent, small family run hotel withing close walking distance to the "old town" of Innsbruck. The food in its restaurant is superb, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. It is a great place to stay, but has one significant problem that you don't discover until you get there. They have no elevator, and if you are laden with luggage, and particularly if you have a problem with stairs, this is not the place for you.

Great location. Only a 2-3 min stroll into town across the river. Very spacious room, and very clean. Welcome biscuits and wine which was a lovely touch. Owner recommended restaurants, and breakfast was lovely. I would stay here again without a doubt.

A pleasant hotel - very convienient location. Very well organised - particularly breakfast - all nice and clean in the Austrian manner - we got a parking ticket (incorrectly) and the lady in charge took care of it.

Well located few steps from historic Innsbruck. Free internet, big TV flat screen in the room. Simple, clean and nice. Breakfest in small caffe included in price.

It was very well located, the room and bathroom were spacious. The TV was a brand-new set. The only poor note were the two small carpets that were quite worn-out.

Pleasant welcoming by hostess and her daughter Quiet and clear quadruple room with two separate sleeping areas and good beds;scarce furniture and decoration. Excellent breakfast in a nice place; the restaurant was closed for summer holidays during our stay We booked the parking and got the right to use it till the next check-in time, which was very useful A very good address, well situated.

Ci sono stata ad agosto 2006 e lo consiglio a chiunque voglia andare ad Insbruk. Albergo economico ma veramente carino e pulitissimo. Inoltre e' vicinissimo al centro.

The whole stay in the hotel was very good. The only inconvenient was that the breakfast time was too short. Instead of finishing at 9.30 it would be better to finish at 10.00.

The hotel and staff were quite nice; however, the fact that we had to drag our luggage three floors to get to our room put was not quite as nice. The hotel is at walking distance from old town, which is certainly convenient for anyone travelling to Innsbruck.

Very spacious, clean and comfortable rooms at a fair price. My only unpleasant experience was arriving to find no soap in the bathrooom and an unhelpful employee in reception who insisted that we come downstairs to fetch it ourselves.

Je vous conseille cet hotel si vous passez quelque jours à innsbruck. L'hotel est à 2 pas du centre ville, tranquille ( chambre coté cour). nous avions reservé une chambre pour 4. Elle était très spacieuse, 2 pièces séparées dans la chambre, un immense lit double+ 2 lits simples nous avons été très bien accueilli, mais attention il faut penser à reserver la place de Parking à l'avance. Ce n'est pas spécifié sur le site, mais nous avons tout de même trouver une place dans la rue. Le petit dej est assez complet, rien de tel pour commencer la journée.

We stayed in a wonderful room that had a view of the Innsbruck bridge and river. There was a little noise from the traffic on the road but nothing that bothered us! We were literally only a couple hundred meters from the oldtown so it was quick and easy to wonder around the area. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone going to Innsbruck!

This was a fabulous hotel at a very affordable price. The room was very spacious and clean - overall we were very very impressed!!
