Orchid Hotel - Hue

Lovely hotel, very helpful staff and very good location close to the main street in the main part of town.

My husband & I were updgraded to the "honeymoon" suite which was unexpected but very romantic. Even though we only stayed 1 night, the staff were very helpful & friendly. We've decided 1 night was not enough and would definitely return to Hue and stay at the Orchid Hotel.

I stayed at the Orchid hotel for 3 nights at the beginning of February 2010 and was extremely impressed. The service provided by the staff was excellent and the room was fantastic. I would definitely stay here again should I visit Hue again.

Our stay at the Orchid was absolutely superb, the staff are very attentive and will assist with any onward travel arrangements, etc. Our room was very spacious and well appointed - i have stayed in hotels with much less at 4 times the cost! Highly recommended!!

Excellent choice of hotel in Hue. We were shown our room which had rose petals on the bed as a way of welcoming us. The staff was very frinedly and knowledgeable regarding the area and tours. Since we arrived early AM, we were taken to the breakfast area and given welcoming drinks and snacks until our room was ready. A great hotel experience in Hue.

The staff was very friendly and helpfully. The room and bathroom very comfortable and clean. We had a computer in the room.Also a free transportation from station to hotel.

Front desk extremely knowledgable and obliging. Best we had in Vietnam. Great value.

The front of house staff were excellent, although being asked if you slept well a dozen times was a bit wearing (made me wonder if that was because they had problems with people not being able to sleep). We had the Honeymoon suite which has a round bed and an in-room jacuzzi, very relaxing. Breakfasts were disappointing for a couple of reasons. Firstly the food was very ordinary, soggy baguettes, undercooked, cold bacon and not much of it. Food was not replenished very often so if you arrived late there was not much choice. Secondly, the waiters did not clear plates. They stood watching and hovering, pacing backwards and forwards but did not clear plates until we left the table so we were stacking dishes as we went along. However, the reception staff were extremely helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. When I was out walking I slipped and pulled the straps of my thong (on my foot!) out of their holes. I asked Reception of they could do anything about it and left it with them. They repaired it and delivered it to our room. The lobby of the hotel is not large so if there are a few guests arriving at once it can be crowded (especially with four or five porters also waiting there). All in all it was a good stay and there are quite a few restaurants nearby serving a variety of food at very reasonable prices. Location was fine because most of the things to see in Hue are out of town so it doesn’t matter where you stay. We didn’t see their ordinary rooms but our room was great; although some would balk at paying US$60 per night we thought it was good value.

A lovely little boutique hotel where 'the little things count'... free access to fast internet in reception that works, fresh flowers in the room, small pastries and cup cakes sent up free to the room in the afternoons, and a DVD player in all rooms with an excellent selection of free DVD's to borrow from reception. The staff are very, very helpful and our stay in Hue was made much easier thanks to them!

Booked this hotel over the internet as a result of Tripadvisor reviews. The staff were very welcoming and very helpful. Our room was spacious, with good natural light, tasteful furnishings and in-room internet. The hotel is across the road from a couple of good restaurants and the Citadel is within walking distance. Highly recommended

Hotel is nothing spectacular -standard of room was 3 star, bathroom dated but clean. What makes it great is location - handy to good restaurants and within walking distance of citadel (15-20 mins). Staff very helpful and genuinely friendly and interested, always smiling and welcoming. Free DVDs at office. Fresh fruit in room. Free pick up from train station provided too (we trained from Danang - hideous)

Brilliant DVD collection in the lobby and can get pizza delivered to your room - great if you need a bit of Western down time!

Best hotel we stayed in in Vietnam for the same price as others in Saigon, Hoi An and Ha Noi. Staff very friendly and good for a chat! Free fruit and cakes each day. Room very clean and modern. Free DVDs available to borrow from reception.

Definetly the place with the best room and service for the price we had during our trip.

A very good and clean hotel with a very helpful and service minded staff not fare from good restaurants and the town’s tourist sites. Fore travellers it is also very pleasant with both coffee making facilities and own computer with free internetconnection in the rooms.

I just finished an 11 country tour and out of the 80 plus hotels I stayed at, the ORCHID was the very best of them all! The staff truly understood customer service and they went above and beyond at every turn. They were so positive and welcoming. Breakfast was fantastic, the room beautiful, and they even had a free DVD rental which I/ve never seen at another hotel. They gave us and everyone when they left heartfelt goodbyes and hugs. We love the ORCHID.

This was the best hotel we stayed at in Vietnam. The staff were incredibly wonderful.Were always willing to help - had ALL the information necessary provided with good humour. The room was lovely with complimentary fruit and cakes, TV, DVD and computer. Was clean, spacious and well furnished. Was in a good location, close to restaurants, shops and tourist sights. Wish we had stayed here longer - a terrific stay - would highly recommend this hotel and its great staff!

We stayed two enjoyable nights at the Orchid hotel. The front desk staff was especially helpful in arranging sightseeing tours (river cruise) and transportation to our next destination. We were very pleased with our stay at the Orchid.

Few feelings of our stay in this hotel: after 3 weeks in Vietnam, it's in this place we have had the best welcome. All employes are only concerned by your well-being and the services offered by the hotel are well above expectations. This is the best rated quality/price hotel we had in Vietnam. So, if you are looking for staying in Hue, you have found your hotel!

An excellent hotel. The service was outstanding, and the room was spacious, clean and well maintained. I was upgraded at no extra cost from the $35 room to the $40 room, which contained a newish computer with a reasonably fast broadband connection. This, in itself, would be worth the extra $5 a day. The view was not up to much but, overall, The Orchid provided possibly the best hotel value out of dozens I have stayed in across South-East Asia.
