Every time we got back to the hotel that we received the big smile on staff’s faces. Rooms is cozy, nice & quite. We loved the hotel’s restaurant which situated at the seven floor comes with panoramic view of Hanoi Old Quarter. For the area surrounding the hotel very busy with many boutiques. We recommended to get to Quan Ngon to have dinner, it’s real Vietnamese foods, then take the Taxi backed the hotel. The location itself is great, a five-ten minute walk to the lake. To make sure you enjoy your trip to Halong Bay should book the Eclipse cruise (Costs more money but excellent services offered). I truly recommend this hotel as the trust worthy for staying in Hanoi.

When rating hotels, I rate them within their tier - this is a boutique hotel, not a 5 star resort - and for the money, Hanoi Amazing is an excellent value. I don't know of another hotel that would allow you to check in at 5:30am (for no extra charge) after arriving in Hanoi on the night train from Lao Cai. Fantastic service, wonderful and accommodating staff. We stayed in the family room on the sixth floor so had no noise from the streets below. Breakfast is simple - though you will want to avoid the pancakes - but we enjoyed the baguettes and jam. Laundry charge was $2/kg which we thought was an excellent deal. We did not book our Halong Bay trip through them, but spoke to others who had and were very happy with the travel arrangements. It's about a 10 minute walk to the lake and in the heart of the Old Quarter, which can be a crazy and hectic place, but once you step inside, it is quiet and welcoming. They have two computers with internet access. Rooms are simple, but clean, and did not smell of smoke. Highly recommended for those who don't require a 5 star hotel.

I found the staff extremely couteous and friendly, as well as helpful. The room was great, and they gave me a better room for the second and third night without me asking. Very very clean, and quiet, too.Hotel has a great city restaurant.

Amazing hotel - Great cheap hotel, Typical " Bed room & Restaurant" style hotel with excellent service, very clean as one would expect, The staff at the hotel were courteous & so friendly. The room was comfortable. Room is lovely, overlooking the quieter end of the Hanoi Old Quarter Street. We just slept here 1 night then go up to the north (Sapa). It was amazing. Ask them, they can give to you all the best information.

It's not bad. The staff are very friendly, the location is pretty good, and it wasn't noisy at night. The room was clean and so were the linens. Free breakfast: the pho is alright, the other options are not so exciting. Avoid the 'pancakes' if you don't like fried dough. I felt that if I looked a little harder I could get a better deal for my money, but overall I was pretty happy with this hotel.

This was the first hotel we arrived to at our three weeks holiday in Vietnam. We stayed three nights. We had arranged a pickup from the airport to the hotel via mail conversation with the hotel. That worked suprisingly fine, they were waiting for us with a sign at the airport. The trip takes about 45 min with car/taxi to the hotel. Upon arrival we checked in and the room was clean and spacious. The hotel has about 10-15 rooms. One of the "travel managers" tried to sell us some package tours to Halong Bay and train/airline tickets for our next stop. I recommend to look around at other travel agencies in town or book on the net to find cheaper tickets since they were much more expensive than they should be. However, the recommended Halong Bay trip was on one of the luxary boats, good food and accomodation, and that trip was the most memorable and best for us during our three weeks in Vietnam. The hotel is in the middle of the French quarters so it is within walking distance to all shops and busy areas in Hanoi. Certainly the hotel rate was good value for the money. Enjoy your stay.

Tommy & his staff were fantastic, went out of their way to make our stay the best they could. Nothing was too much trouble. They looked after our luggage while we went to Sapa & then out to Halong bay which meant we only had to take one small bag instead of all our luggage. When we arrived back from Sapa at 0430, they had a room for us to have a sleep then shower, change & some breakfast before heading out to Halong Bay at 0800. This was provided free of charge as was the room to shower and change before catching the night train to Sapa. Tommy helped us choose a tour to Halong Bay & the one he recommeded was brilliant. THank you Tommy for a wonderful stay in Hanoi!!

Extremely disappointed and would not recommend to others. I think that Tommy, the Manager, would be interested to hear how one of his employees tried to tell us that the room we were being allocated was needed for another group of family members. This was despite having booked our accommodation several weeks in advance. After making ourselves perfectly clear, i.e. we would not accept this story, we were allocated our original room. Finally, on the eve of checking out of the hotel, the same employee informed us that their credit card machine was not working and that they would require the balance in cash. The employee then calculated and recalculated the due amount three times and wrote down the amount owed. Fortunately, we had sufficient cash to pay the bill however on returning to see the employee, he then told us he had made a mistake and that his calculator could not have been working properly. I am afraid to say that this comment was the straw that broke the camel's back and we refused to pay any extra. This sort of service leaves a nasty taste in one's mouth.

The "Manager" tried to charge me $40 per night when I checked out, but my on-line reservation was for $35 per night. I had to show him that price on my email record before he'd give it to me. The "manager" also told me I had to pay the taxi driver when we got to the airport upon departing Vietnam, but he had already charged the taxi fee onto my credit card when I checked out! He also pressured us to sign up for a tour. When we decided on a tour package to HaLong Bay, the tour was to have included a stop at some caves AND going to some ghrattos. He signed us up for a different tour instead that only took us to the caves. Additionally, we had paid the VP price, but didn't get on the VP bus trek to HaLong Bay. We should have gotten at least a partial refund for this mess! We wondered: did the "manager" get a larger commission for putting us onto the other tour? Also, we learned after we got home that another tour operator that we had contacted had gone to our hotel to talk to us about the tour we wanted. The "manager" didn't even tell us he had come to see us! His treatment of our stay was appalling!

I was in Ha Noi on NGO business for two days. This hotel is great value for the money. I travel enough to want an en suite bath, ac, a clean room and working wi-fi. The Hoang Thanh had it all albeit the room was quite cozy. If I return to work in Ha Noi I will request a larger room to stretch out in. The staff was friendly, helpful, and the breakfast pho and coffee were good. I would definitely return.
