I had a fantastic time ein Golden Sun Hotel. The staff was incredibly friendly, granting me any wish I might have, organizing loads of things for me, taking me to the pharmacy, hairdresser's, buying me a sim card...and everything with a warm smile on their face. It was truly amazing and I can only recommend this hotel.

Great hotel in a great location. But what really made it special were the fantastic staff. We booked out trip to Halong Bay through them and it was superb, and they organised our train to Hoi An (although in hindsight we should have flown!).

A very good location if you are sightseeing and checking out what the local do. Very easy to get around.

The Golden Sun was delightful, as was the service. We stayed in room 603 - with a panoramic view of the lake ($45.00 US). Our room had a table and two chairs so we could sit and enjoy the lake view. The elevator goes to the 6th floor; so, it was only a walk up one flight of stairs to the breakfast room, which also had a great lake view. Food is an important aspect of our travels, and breakfasts at the Golden Sun are good, fresh and straightforward: omelets, banana pancakes, various fresh tropical fruits, yogurt, authentic French baguettes and fine Vietnamese coffee. The location of the hotel was excellent as well. Being within two blocks of the lake was outstanding. The hotel arranged our tour of the city and to Ha Long Bay. We had read studiously rave customer reviews of the hotel prior to booking and were a bit sceptical that a hotel could really be as good as many wrote it was. My husband and I are retirees in Hawaii and frequent travelers to S.E. Asia. The reviewers who rave about the Golden Sun are right. This hotel is a find!

Very well located hotel, near North end of lake, walking distance to most things you would want to see in town. The room decor might leave something to be desired, but the room was clean, comfortable and quiet, with a view of the lake between neighbouring buildings. The service was excellent, nothing was too much trouble, from copying photos via the computer, to obtaining tickets for the water-puppet show. All their recommendations for restaurants and excursions turned out to be just what we wanted. I would definitely go there again.

The reception is very attentive but not totaly reliable... They forgot to get us at the airport and forgot to wake us up for a tour than we took through them... Over all friendly, clean hotel a bit more expensive than some others just next.

It was my first time in Hanoi and Golden Sun staff makes you fill at home. The Hotel is located in one of the rare streets with little traffic and is also a street with a lot of restaurants. I strongly recommend Golden Sun for staying in Hanoi.

In addition to our room, the Golden Sun also arranged our travel to Halong Bay and Sapa in addition to our airport transfers. I highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed at the Golden Sun 2 nights (June 21-23, 2008). The room was very nice, clean, and comfortable. Comfortable, good-sized bed. Bathroom was nice, clean, and updated with new tile everywhere. Glass-enclosed shower - very good warm water. We could see the lake very well (we were on the 6th floor). Welcome "gifts" in the room were very sweet (bottle of wine, fruits, and even a knife!). Staff were all very friendly and helpful with all outside arrangements - no pushy "selling" at all. We were lucky to have the owner take us to a great buffet restaurant with another group of guests - private bus to the restaurant, exciting moto ride back to hotel with the owner - Mrs. Moon, and her nice husband. Whe we return to Hanoi, we will stay at the Golden Sun again. Location in Old Quarter is very convenient to many shops, attractions (water puppet show), lake, etc.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Golden Sun Hotel. This is thank to the staff who worked at reception desk ms Thao and Anh also thank the manager Mrs Moon she was so kind and excellent at correspondence. Without her suggestion. We wouldn't have had such wonderful trip in Vietnam.

A very nice hotel located in the old quarter. Our room was spacious, well equipped with A/C, TV, comfortable bed and very clean bathroom. The hotel even welcome a platter of fruits, two bottles of mineral water and one bottle of red wine on arrival was excellent.We will definitely recommend Golden Sun Hotel to our friends.

I had a reservation at the Golden Sun but ended up staying 2 doors down at the Liberty Hotel because the Golden Sun was full. I had breakfast at the Golden Sun so i got to see both locations. Both were pleasant, clean and well equipped. The staff is excellent. I arrived late on a Sat night and several staff members were waiting up for me. Very kind and attentive. The e-mail communication with the hotel before the trip was very good. While there they arranged tickets for the water puppets and a taxi to the airport with great efficiency. Very good breakfast as well.

No free rooms in the Golden Sun - got a room at a hotel across the street, but this was not a triple room as ordered. Got another room at yet another hotel next door the next day - this was spacious and nice. Helpful, english-speaking staff.

Having returned from Ha Long Bay I did actually get to spend the last of the 3 nights I had booked at the Golden Sun, IN the Golden Sun (as opposed to the Morning Star). The Golden Sun is a lovely hotel, in a quiet street in the Old Quarter. Mrs Moon and her staff could not be more helpful, organising tours etc. I would definitely stay there again - and the banana pancakes for breakfast were delicious!

Staying in the Golden Sun Hotel was really great, the staff was extremely helpful and really took good care of us. Also the Halong Bay trip booked through the hotel was money's worth. I would like to thank the staff again and I really recommend Golden Sun for other travellers!

It was a very nice, small hotel, perfectly located close to Hoan Kiem Lake in Old Quarter. The staff was very helpful, and got us tickets to Waterpuppet show as well as our airline tickets to fly to Hue. The breakfast was truly amazing. We tried every dish over the 5 days we were there: banana pancakes, omelettes and pho (chicken soup). We loved it.
