I stayed at the Discovery twice, alone on the outward journey and with my mother on the return. Mr Do and his friendly family were very hospitable and helpful - they helped me with train tickets, tours and useful local information, and picked me up from the train station. The hotel is fantastically located in the heart of Hanoi's old quarter. You can walk straight out the front door of the peaceful hotel into the buzz and hubub of the fabulous city streets. The rooms were clean, comfortable and a good size. Definitely recommended.
