excellent hotel/hostel. It was a very family friendly hotel, lots of school children staying so the breakfast room got very loud in the mornings, but if you got there early it was fine. I'd definately stay here again.

Breakfast was bad because the foods were very bad. I advice this hotel for young people that don't want to spend too much. The rooms are new and clean but aren't hospitable. I advice a restaurant near to merkado is called Marilù where you find italian cooking to a good relationship between price/quality.

Room Details
Meininger Hotel Hamburg City Center offers modernly furnished guest rooms, all with private bathroom, and shower and provided with a key card lock system to assure guests safety and security. Children 2 years old and younger stay free when using existing bedding.
The accommodation amenities include telephone, TV, and complimentary wireless Internet access. A safe deposit box is available at the reception desk. A laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer is at guests' disposal, as well as a common kitchen. Rollaway beds and complimentary cribs (infant beds) are available.

How to reach MEININGER Hotel Hamburg City Center
By train
From the main train station: take either the S1 (towards Wedel), the S2, the S3 (towards Pinneberg), or the S31 (towards Altona). Get off at Altona station. Walk in direction of Große Bergstraße Street and turn left into Max Brauer Allee and walk for 218 yards/200 meters. Take another left turn into Goetheallee, and after only 30 yards/30 meters you will arrive at the Meininger Hotel Hamburg City Center, which is located on the left hand side.
By airplane
From Hamburg Airport: the airport is not directly connected to the railway network. The closest station is Ohlsdorf underground and tramway station . Take either the S1, the S11 or the U1 toward Hauptbahnhof main station or Jungfernstieg. From there you can take the S-Bahn and get easily to Meininger Hotel Hamburg City Center. If you take the S1 get to Altona Station without a stop and then follow the directions above.
Take the bus no. 110 (towards Ohlsdorf), and get off at U-/S- Station Ohlsdorf. From there, take the S1 (towards Wedel) until the Altona station. Then follow the directions above.
Alternatively take the Airport Express Jasper running every 10 minutes to the main station.
