Put us in different section 1st night because of couple with big baby carriage. Had to walk up 2 flights becaus it was next to main hotel. No problem after that. Location in Piazza. Good English speaking staff. Went during the wine festival so had to park 1/2 mile from hotel. Great free breakfast. Parking free, small town so safe.

This is a tidy place, not elegant, but clean, attentive and competent staff, etc. The breakfast was one of the best we had on our trip, great location at the corner of the square. Couldn't have been nicer for our needs. They even have a Mynah bird.

The service at Del Chianti was wonderful! We stayed during the annual Chianti Classico wine festival held in Greve, and we couldn't be happier with our choice in accommodations. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. The room was spacious, yet quaint. Breakfast was very filling and delicious. Definitely one of our best accommodations during our recent trip to Italy.

The hotel staff were very helpful, polite and friendly. We were put in an apartment on the square. It was excellent accommodation and we felt as though we had got much more than we had paid for. The town is very small, but beautiful. If I had to imagine a rustic, Tuscan market town, I couldn't have thought of anywhere better. The vineyard at Vignamaggio (10mins by car) was stunning and well worth a visit. An amazing place for a long weekend.

First, it is ridiculous to ask me to rate the number and type of rooms available. I'm not going to spend my vacation checking up on your web site so I just marked correspondence as 10 although I have no idea! Very nice outdoor garden and pool area (although it was too cold to use when I was there). Quiet hotel, perfectly located on the main square of Greve, where there are several restaurants and shops.

A family-runned hotel with very friendly personnel in the centre of Greve, near to restaurants (visit 'Morro' or the pizzarestaurant in the high street!) and all places to visit. We will certainly come back to enjoy the very good atmosphere.

We would return to the Hotel Del Chianti any time we were in the area. The family that runs it were very friendly, fun and helpful. Our entire 7 nights were wonderful! Breakfast was great, and the unlimited cappuccino was a fantastic treat each morning. We were however disappointed that they could not take a credit card which we had not planned on using. Therefore had to go to the bank to get cash to pay our bill. Greve is a great location with many restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.

The family who run the hotel are very welcoming. The two brothers who run the front of house speak excellent English and have a great sense of Humour. We have been back 5 times and we get a great welcome and have a relaxed break every time we come.

We booked a double room months in advance, but when we arrived were given a tiny twin room, which was claustrophobic. when we complained, we were moved the following day to a much nicer, more spacious double room. there was a handwritten sign at reception stating that they were having problems processing credit cards, but we didn't believe this, and presented them with our card at checkout, which they then processed. one of the brothers is very friendly and helpful. good continental breakfast included. very clean hotel, nice pool area. no wifi in rooms, only in lobby.

This hotel was a disappointment. We loved the location, but even though it is smoking is not allowed, the attendant and another older gentleman who just kind of hung around the lobby smoked, and near the breakfast area. Which the breakfast was nothing special, but we were asked two days to hurry and eat as they were putting away the food. The walls were very thin and we heard all the goings on in the neighboring rooms. Greve was a most enjoyable town, we went to the market on Saturday and traveled to other towns while were there. I am sure the pool at the hotel is a draw during the summer.

Excellent small hotel located right on the town square that exceeded our expectations. Superb breakfast (the best experienced among small hotels and B&B's in Italy by far)and excellent facilities including a spacious patio and pool that we didn't use because the weather was too cool. Very friendly and talkative host (David) at the desk who was very helpful. Myna bird in the lobby very entertaining with his "meows".

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was well situated on the main piazza, close to all amenities in Greve. After driving around the countryside during the day, it was a good resting place for the evening. As the weather was warm, the pool was most enjoyable. But most of all, the staff was friendly, the hotel spotless, and the breakfast more than adequate with great choices provided. We wished we had stayed longer than our three days and would definitely return!

Hotel was ideal for our stay. David, the proprietor, was very helpful and supplied us with all necessary information of the local area. We had to leave a day early and he was very understanding. Hotel is located on the town square and is central for everywhere there. The town is small and there were many tourists there in August. Spring or Autumn would be more suitable. Prices locally were not cheap but services were good.

Very cute hotel, ideally located on the main piazza, with dedicated staff. Unfortunately we got the short straw for the room - the 'grey' room as they each have a different colour, overlooking another building with no light coming through. Walls were also very thin so you could clearly hear what was going on in the corridor. But the breakfast area was a bonus with view over the gorgeous swimming pool. 'Cantina' restaurant nearby is worth a visit they're very friendly and portions are enourmous.

Francesco's (the owner and general manager) welcoming started our vacation off with great warmth. His hotel was superb. This family-run hotel was always clean and comfortable. Francesco's brother, David, assisted as manager. His mother managed hotel services and his father, a vintner, was there to support the family during the day. Breakfasts were light and filling and their Myna bird, Pacco, was hilarious with his cat meows, bird calls and screams. We recommend this place for your hub when visiting Cianti Classico. Caio

Great location. The two madcap brothers who run the place are great fun but also very helpful. The Greve market square is a fantastic place to eat, drink and shop. Only downside to the hotel is the chiming of the church clock on the hour, oh and that bloody Mynah bird in the bar downstairs! We're going back next year though!

The Del Chianti is a clean, convenient hotel. We used it as our central point for exploring Tuscany, and found it to be a perfect spot for that. The hosts were friendly, the wine was excellent, the breakfasts bountiful and the rooms reasonable. Even the resident mynah chimed in with its own comments for the day. The garden/pool area was a lovely and quiet place to escape. We would certainly return when our travels take us to the area again.

THis was part of a trip with my friend , Eileen DeCristofano and her granddaughter with our stay in Florence Tornobuoni Beacci,. The del Chianti is a charming hotel in the Piazza in Greve, we were met by a wonderful young man , David who greeted us warmly. We had a wonderful stay and everyone was so helpful. Our shower was not working well and David replaced it . I would definitely stay there again and recommend it. Sue Griffin Sterling Brownell Travel sgrif23@aol.com 404 376-7576

We are married college professors (retired) who toured a lot of Italy and used modestly-priced pensione and regular hotels. We followed recommendations from other travelers based on the reviews in Venere.com. We traveled (thankfully) from mid-October through early November. We used public transportation with a lot of walking, except in The Alps and in Tuscany when we rented a car. We chose our stays based on these priorities: bath-in-room, cleanliness, ease of access (pulling suitcases), location near attractions/public transportation, and availability of a queen-sized bed and a hearty breakfast (we disagreed on the ranking of the last two). In retrospect, having a helpful hotel staff turned out to be an important issue. Every room we had in Italy accurately reflected the reviews on the web site, and in particular on the issue of cleanliness. All rooms were impeccably cleaned to the point of shining. The Del Chianti Hotel lived up to our expectations. It was a fun, interesting place. The owner was warm, friendly, and very helpful. The room was modern and very clean. The breakfast fare was a bright spot by Italian standards. The hotel was located right on a wonderful public square, ten steps from a very good restaurant. A few more steps got you several other restaurants and good shopping. The nearby wine and olive oil tasting cellar was a unique experience. The stay at the Del Chianti was marred by two issues. The reception desk, TV lounge, bar and breakfast area are all one big room (visually divided) and smoking was very heavy in those areas. We walked through the area quickly to get to our room, but couldn't utilize those facilities. Eating breakfast to the accompaniment of stale cigarette smell was unpleasant. Also, an afternoon nap was frustratingly disrupted because of the owners' pet bird in the courtyard whistling louder than a fire alarm. Although the bird adds to the charm, the owners should be aware of how it could be affecting guests.

The Del Chianti is one of the best, if not the best, value hotels we have ever had the pleasure of staying in. Its location on the town square of Greve in Chianti is unbeatable and the staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. The private wine country tour they arranged for us was a highlight of our vacation!

Centrally located just at the beatiful Piazza Matteotti. Easy to find. Public car parking at the Piazza, one Euro per hour between 10-18 Nice rich breakfast with homemade salami, ham, cheese, juice, fresh homebaked bread and different kind of pastries. A few restaurants and shops around the Piazza.

The welcome was rather unpleasant as the receptionist came out that no room was booked for us. It took us 1 hour of negotiation to get a room. Apart form this experience, the stay was very nice. The rooms as well as the hotel terrace and pool were up to our expectations. A number of good local-cuisine restaurants within 5 mins. walking distance. We recommend the place but PLEASE double-check your bookings with the receptionist directly.

We found this hotel to be near the top of all the hotels we stayed in during a 27 day visit to Italy. It is family run and the family is delightful. The only negative thing I can think of is that many of the rooms are specified by color - and we were assigned the "red" room - my wife didn't like that particular color - I didn't mind, but it was "different". It is a very nice hotel with good management located in a delightful area of Chianti.
