We paid extra for the top-floor cathedral view. The elevator goes to three and you must walk up to four. We did not mind, and the view is great. It was fun being up high on the hillside. The room is tiny but cozy and solid. The staff person was very friendly and helpful. The location is unbeatable! It is on the road winding up to the entrance to Alhambra. If you don't need much space, and you don't mind some climbing, it's a great option.

The people of the staff were wonderful, extremely kind! It could have been a very nice experience but the room was really really small and the bathroom even smaller. The hotel is near to the Alhambra.

The best thing about this hotel is location. It's as central as it gets. 5 min to Albacin, Catherdral and right at Plaza Nueva. Otherwise, the rooms are very basic, the bathroom does not have a regular door, just a glass divider. If I had to stay more than 1 night, I would choose a different hotel. As a general advice, try to book your Alhambra tickets in advance. If they are sold out on the internet, ask at the hotel when you make a reservation.

The hotel location is perfect. Just off the main plaza and a short walk (uphill) to the Alhambra. Nothing to complain about our room. Yes the bathroom (like many hotels in spain) was on the small side. Free internet. Did not pay for the breakfast...we always found it better to go out for our java jolt in the mornings...and cheaper!

It was the first time we stayed at this hotel and it was wonderful! The location of the hotel is exceptional: we could get by foot anywhere in the town. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and the beds relatively comfortable. The only thing, I would recommend booking the room facing the back of the building. Our was facing the street and it was quite noisy through the whole night.

The room and the bathroom are very clean. The only inconvenient is that they are really, really small. If you don`t mind tiny rooms this is a very good hotel. It is located near the Alhambra, a 5 minute walk and with good transport to other parts of the city.

Very helpfull staff, organised tickets for the Alhambra, suggested best ticket pick up time, you have to go and get them,,and be early, spot on. Advised and gave map for best parking, not too many problems, the entrance was on the other side of the road, but there might have been one that we missed, not too hard anyway. Great breakfast and relaxing terrace upstairs if you want a quiet place to relax anytime. Location, hard to beat, 100 metres from the Alhambra and main square. The old city centre is fairly compact anyway so, enjoy. We did. Would we stay there again? certainly.

The room was somewhat small and the bathroom really small, like those you can find in Japanese hotels, but Japanese make a science out of it, here the space was just small. Nevertheless, the shower was really good, lots of water, even very warm. Perfect I must say. Good free wifi in the room. Very convenient location. All staff very helpful, some a bit on the cold side, some really welcoming.

My wife and I spent a short winter break holiday in Granada. We found the Puerta de las Granadas on the internet after comparing customer comments on many hotels. Prices were cheap and the location virtually perfect. The room was small but this didn't matter as it was next to the attractive sun terrace and, anyway, we were out most of the day. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful - the service was as good as anywhere we've ever stayed. I would strongly recommend this hotel.

Great location in Granada. Just at the base of the Alhambra (the actual Puertes de Granadas). Very close to Plaza Nueva which has bus services, restaurants, and easy walking to the Albayzin quarter, Sacromonte,Alaciceria, and the Darro River. Quiet street, nice rooms, friendly and helpful staff.

This was by far the smallest room we had out of seven different hotels in Spain. Barely room for the bed. The bathroom was tiny with a glass door. However, the location was excellent, a few steps from Plaza Nuevo, and within walking distance to the Alhambra. The staff was very helpful. If you have a car, park outside the restricted zone and take a taxi to the hotel. The hotel has arragements with several parking garages for reduces rates.

Overall, good hotel and convenient location. However... The beds in the rooms were quite hard and pillows very light and thin! The room had little spare room to move around the bed. The toilet/shower room was a real pain! It was a sort of wet room with shower water flowing and draining away in the middle of the main floor. It meant you could not enter the room at other times without shoes on and also water was always getting onto to the bedroom floor. Not sure what idiot designed this!

Staff extremely courteous and sincere (as I noted in our correspondence with them prior) and really made us feel right at home. Fantastic location for the Alhambre which is why you went there right? Excellent price for quality. Nice terrace to have your free throughout day choice of tea or coffee.I definately would go back to this modern feel hotel. About the highlights of Granada, if you like interactive museums I would defo recommend the cultural and science museums (especially I'd guess for young families). Other than that just soak up the atmosphere of this amazing place.

Very warm welcome on arrival - given a room upgrade, without requesting it, that was very light and enabled us to view the skyline. Breakfast ample but cold buffet only, cereals, toast, fruit, yoghurt, meats, cheese, pastries, breads, with coffee/hot drinks available at breakfast and throughout day/night. Fantastic pub on the corner - the Gran Taverna - tapas with every beer, and spirit measures to die for - certainly the morning after anyway. Only drawback is the street in which the hotel is located does not have a sign - it is the last street on the right walking away from Gran Colon along the Plaza Nueva. Highly recommended.

Very nice hotel in excellent location. Extremely helpful staff starting to organize already before arrival. Nice, modern, stylish room (too stylish bathroom door: not closeable, other very small minus: Two beds instead of one as desired). Good breakfast (cheaper than quoted). Almost unique in Spain: It was indeed quiet! Many thanks, we will recommend you!

THe Hotel was small and well located close to the Plaza Nuevas, so right in the heart of things. The rooms were small but completely adequate, well laid out and the furnishings and fittings were all new. One of the best things was the small terrace at the back which was an oasis of calm in the midst of the rush of the city - they were happy for you to bring food/drinks from outside and to sit on the terrace relaxing. Information at the front desk at check in was great too. Free internet access too.

We think this is an excellent hotel is in the centre of the city and near the Alhambra. The staff is very helpfull and there is free internet available. The indoor rooms are small and have no windows. But the other rooms are very good. The bathrooms are a little bit small, but clean like the rest of the room.

We arrived late in the day and were met by a welcoming receptionist who said she was expecting us. I had a small double (as a single) and my daughters a large twin. The rooms and ensuite shower rooms were very pleasant. We did not hear any noise from the adjacent occupied rooms, and only a little from the corridor. We stayed at this hotel on two occasions and each time met with friendlyness and helfulness from the staff. The location of the hotel is also central but within a pedestrianised street which meant almost no traffic noise. Breakfast was a relaxed self-service buffet, with plenty of choice.

Great location with easy walking access to the main attractions & many bars and restaurants. The staff were very very helpful (several of them!), helped us book the ticket to Alhambra (which is a must since the place limits the number of visitors allowed per day, and we didn't know that till the hotel staff told us) with repeated tries when my credit card had some problems, helped me receive packages before my arrival and informed me promptly when the package got there... The only minor problem was that the restroom was very small.

The staff were fantastic, very welcoming and gave lots of information about the city, bars and restaurants etc. The rooms were very small but did have everything you might need. The location was perfect and made better I suppose because the road to the Alhambra was closed to traffic so may not always be as quiet as when we were there. Great value and great staff.

We were very happy with the accommodations at Hotel de las Granadas, particularly the small patio which was charming and quiet and a most welcome place to relax after being a tourist all day. The location of the hotel is perfect ... so near to the things that we wanted most to see. And the front desk service was delightfully friendly, thorough, and helpful. The decor of the room is basic ... but we knew that from the pictures we had seen prior to booking ... and this did not detract from our wonderful experiences in Granada.

We stayed here for 2 nights for our visit to Granada and Alhambra. The hotel is relatively small with small rooms, but everything in excellent condition. Rooms are modern and minimalist, although a bit too small. Bathroom is impecable. Location is excellent, near to everything you need to know in Granada and just under the Alhambra. Employees are very kind and helpful. You have free internet! I would definitely come back to this hotel.

We had a very comfortable stay at the Puerta de las Granadas. The street is a bit run down but the Hotel is recently re-furbished and is probably leading the way to an improvement of the street as a whole. It is very close to Plaza Nueva from where you can walk to the Albaicin and the rest of central Granada. The front desk staff were extremely helpful and friendly (they all spoke english). The hotel is on a traffic-free street leading up to the Alhambra (10 minutes walk uphill or get the nearby bus). Contact the hotel ahead and they will have tickets ready for you. It is also conveniently located for places to eat and shop. Our room was on the third floor and overlooked the street but we were never bothered by noise. Breakfast is typical buffet style and is charged extra. Good point was the availability of two internet computers. Our taxi dropped us off at the hotel while, on leaving, we had to walk to the bottom of the road. But the staff helped us with our bags.

I would echo all the good things others have said about this hotel, its location and its staff. Our room was probably the smallest of any hotel we stayed at on this trip, but it was comfortable, we slept well, and everything else about the hotel was great. We had the hotel make our reservations for the Alhambra. This worked out very well: the hotel issued voucher took us to the front of the long line at the Alhambra. We left our car at the parking garage suggested by the hotel, took a taxi to the hotel (about 7 Euros), and found sightseeing, stores and restaurants within walking distance. The hotel is right below the Alhambra, within a 15 - 20 minute walk. Part of the reason it takes 15 - 20 minutes is that most of the way, the walk is up a quite steep path , through a pleasant wooded park. We walked and enjoyed it, but the bus is a very reasonable alternative for those who might not be so energetic.

The Hotel is centrally located near the Nueva Plaza -- lots of action and opportunity for people watching -- great nearby market (Mantequeria Castellano) and very easy access to the Alhambra and Albicin (Take the #31 Bus). Close to two recommended restaurants by tour guides and ourselves -- Restaurante: Los Manueles and Jardines and the Cathedral. The staff is very helpful, speaks English well and is concerned about its guests. We believe we had the best room in the Hotel (202) with the balcony shown in the hotel pictures -- but the room is small even by European standards. So, we suggest people especially staying for more than three days to opt for the larger rooms -- in the back. These rooms are also likely to be quieter -- but then in Spain one expects street noise. The Hotel does offer Internet/computer gratis -- we did not have breakfast so we can not comment on the service there. There is free coffee 24/7 another plus as well as the 2rd floor garden/patio. We can recommend the Hotel and would stay there again.

Hotel Puertas de las Granadas was in a great location for visiting the Allambra and accessing eating places and shops. It´s just a walk up the road to the Allambra. The hotel was clean and friendly, staff were helpful. There was a garden with tables out the back to sit and have a drink or chat. Our room was small but well organised and clean. Breakfast was basic and the breakfast room was small and not always serviced well. There was free access to the internet which was good. Overall I would recommend the hotel and wouldn´t hesitate to stay there again. We asked about rooms for families with a small child and apparently the hotel has a room which is big enough to accommodate this.

One of our double-rooms was on the top floor; it was small but cosy in a great location - park your car in a public garage as advised by the hotel and take a taxi as the hotel is hard to reach by car. The service was excellent, immediately after the booking I received an Email asking whether we needed driving instructions, parking, and Alhambra tickets. Very convenient. The staff at reception was very friendly and explained the surroundings in great detail. We have stayed in Granada a few times - this is the place I would definitely come back to!

The hotel was very clean and the receptionists were so so nice (one of them was speaking italian!) They gave us a nice present for visiting Alhambra: a hat for the sun. It is very well situated because it's so close to the Alhambra (10 minutes by foot) and from the city centre and the Albaicin(5 minutes). Just one thing: the car parking is a litlle bit far if you have weighty baggages.

I would not attempt to drive a car to the hotel. Hotel is on a very steep one way street that is difficult to locate while driving. Park your car and take a taxi to the hotel! Ask hotel staff ahead of time for parking locations. We took a taxi (25 euros) from the airport rather then the airport bus. I am glad that we did. If you are going to rent a car, don't pick it up at the Granada Airport, visit Granada and then pick up your car at their railroad station car rental office. You will avoid the travel night mare of getting out of Granada. You could not find a hotel staff that is more helpful or friendly, they all speak very good english. Two free internet stations. Excellant breakfast and free drinks and food anytime that you want. Our room was very small and clean, we asked for a larger room, but none avilable, no big deal. Location of hotel for visiting the Alhambra is excellant. Short walk to the bus (1 euro) to the Alhambra. You must have reservations to visit the Alhambra. Make them via the Alhambra's web site from the U.S. or the Hotel staff will do it for you, but do it ahead of time. Hotel made reservations for us to visit a Flamenco Cave, it was well worth the (25 euro's each). We would stay at this hotel again and highly recommend it. It is in a difficult location to find, but once you are there it is easy. Short walk to visit most of Granada and many excellant eating places are near by, ask staff for recommendations. Get off the main street and eat where the locals do. The food was great! Enjoy your visit to Granada and get a copy of Rick Steve's Spain. This is the only travel book that you will need.

We had lovely time at this hotel and thoroughly recommend it. The receptionist - afraid I can't remember her name - was fantastic and gave us lots of information and tips about Granada and La Alhambra. I'd e-mailed the hotel beforehand and they're reserved tickets for us which was a godsend as the queue, even in October, was enormous. Room overlooked the nice little courtyard and was very quiet, clean and a reasonable size. Think rooms overlooking the road were noisier as I heard some people complaining about it. Location is perfect, at bottom of (long) hill on way to La Alhambra and bus stop only a couple of minutes away. Also shops and restaurants are very near. Only one negative point - room was a bit pongy sometimes- something like blocked drains but we didn't complain so don't know if it was a one-off. Don't know if we'll return to Granada but if so, we'll definitely stay here.

The location was perfect, we could have walked to the Alhambra, but chose to take the shuttle bus. The shuttle bus pick-up was on the corner, just down the street. Only 1 minute from the hotel. I really appreciated the hotel contacting me after the sleeping room reservation was confirmed, to make a reservation for tickets to the Alhambra. If they had not alerted me, we never would have known to do so, and may not have seen the Alhambra in the time we had planned for Granada. They also told us to plan on being at the Alhambra at least 1 hour prior to the reservation time. This was very helpful. The extra hour gave us the time needed to explore other portions of the Alhambra before starting the scheduled tour. Shopping was very close too. Thank you

This place is good for a young couple who are looking for something a bit better than a hostel but for similiar prices. There's two reasons why you should stay here. Firstly, its location: on the hill leading to the Alhambra and in a perfect position to explore the rest of the city from (Granada is a small and easy city to walk around). Secondly, the ultra friendly staff, who are quite simply the most helpful i've ever come across (and pretty too!). Let them sort out the Alhambra tickets for you before you travel. It's probably not for everyone- the rooms are small and basic but it's great value for the price.

Great location for short visit to Granada. Very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms small, but high standard overall and good price. Good airconditioning. Try the Bodega up the street at side of Plaza Nueva for good food (especially the homemade desserts)at reasonable price and a great buzz (recommended by the hotel, spot on!)

The hotel staff were wonderful! Really friendly and helpful. They gave advice about visiting the Alhambra and which areas of Granada to eat or shop in, and which to avoid. However, the breakfast was a bit expensive (9 euros each), so it would be better to make other arangements, or eat absolutely everything they have to offer.

The service and the welcoming were excellent, given the price of a room. The Mauror room doesn't have a properly separated bathroom. But this hotel is very close to the main touristic sites of the city. Take care about the parking, this is not easy to park inside Granada.

This hotel was by far our favourite one in Spain. The lady that welcomed us was fantastic and really friendly. By far the friendliest service we had in Spain. The mini-bar (for what it is worth) was the best stocked mini bar ever.

Most noteworthy, the customer service practices at Puerta are exemplary; they clearly are doing it right with the right staff for we were absolutely impressed from the start. Arriving after a long drive, the desk staff was an extremely attractive young lady who was most helpful in assuring we had the best room, we were situated well in Granada, and assisted us with navigating thru Granada. A welcoming and refreshing start to a great trip. In additio, the night staff member, was most helpful as well and to my son's pleasure, she was also very attractive. Finally, as we checked out, the genuine concern for our stay was apparent for an customer service card was immediately offered. As for the hotel, we enjoyed the modern-minimlaist style within an old building. Things like a working elevator, a large bath, great air conditioning, free internet access and a quiet-reflective terrace were all appreciated. Though we did not partake in the breakfast (fee), it looked more than ample and can be most helpful in starting ones day. The overall feeling we had in Granada, as expressed in the hotel staff, was clearly, everyone was pleased we were there. We loved Granada as the perfect travel destination for activities, history, and most valued, peace and tranquility. We will return and I will return to Puerta for sure! The only other hotel worth considering looked to be Hotel America (if you can score a good deal) for it is right in the Alhambra setting and quiet unusual ... best to you on your travels!

We were a family group and found the location ideal for a visit to the Alhambra and the old town. We used a local cafe for breakfast a little further up the street. Some people might think the rooms on the small side but they were fine for us. Staff were very helpful and booked our Alhambra tickets in advance and sent us detail about car parking which saved a lot of bother.

+Competent and friendly staff. Tiny, tiny room with little space for moving around. No parking at premises so advise agains this hotel if driving a car. At base of a steep hill to the Alhambra for which bus is needed and available. Very close to stores and city activities.

We spent 4 nights here in May. It was in an excellent location and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Room was a bit small and only had a hanging rail, no wardrobe. Occasionally, there was some smell of drains from the bathroom. Breakfast was 6 euros per person so we ate at one of the cafes in Plaza Nueva just near the hotel for half the price. The bar on the corner at the bottom of the street, same side of the street as the hotel, gives a small plate of tapas when you order a beer. Look out for the school of music for cheap, excellent classical concerts. Hotel very handy for the Alhambra (get the bus up) and the Albacin (old jewish quarter). Go up to the Albacin area and watch the sunset and the Alhambra lit up.

Out of all the hotels we stayed at in Spain, this was the best. Excellent location. Great value for money. Rooms are small but very well designed. Modern and clean. The staff especially was extremely friendly and went out of their way to help. I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Granada.

The hotel's location is perfect if you're only in Granada for a few days as the city centre is right on your doorstep. The bus stop for the Alhambra is one minute down the road and takes you to the door and there were plenty of inexpensive bars and restaurants in Plaza Nueva which is 2 mins away. The hotel was quiet and clean with a very pleaant little courtyard in the centre. There was a working lift and free internet connection for the guests. The hotel staff were amazing so helpfl and everyone spoke perfect English, they even booked our Alhambra tickets for us. The room wasn't spacious but it was comfortable and clean with modern fittings and air conditioning. All in all a great stay, I would definately reccommend the Hotel Puerta de las Granadas, it made out trip pefect!

Great location, rooms a little cramped. The room we had looked as if it had originally been one large room which had been converted to two. This mean't that you could hear the people in the neighbouring room walk across the floor when they came in of a night this woke us up.

I had read the comments about this hotel and i can only agree with all the good stuff. The hotel is lovely and really as close to the Alhambra and city centre as you can get, the stuff are very helpful (there were even complimentary umbrellas and they booked us into a lovely Arab bath) and the room was lovely and inventive. Will definitely go there again.

We have just returned from a 4 night break here and I have to say that this hotel is excellent in every way! The location is superb and the front desk staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. Our room was a little basic but very clean & comfortable & so QUIET - despite being at the front of the hotel! We would certainly stay here again & have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone looking for a good base from which to explore Granada.

This hotel is very well located. Near the Alhambra and a few blocks from the old center. The staff was very knowledgeable. Rooms were very modern. The hotel sent information on parking in the public ramp (with clear directions on how to reach it) and taking a taxi to the hotel which proved to be very helpful.

Puerta de las Granadas was everything we wanted for a short break in Granada. It's very close to the Alhambra either to walk or catch the shuttle bus. It's also close to good areas for tapas and other evening entertainments. What set the hotel apart, however, was the welcoming nature of the front desk staff who were incredibly helpful and friendly. This attitude provides a very positive image of the hotel and Granada itself.

Excellent location - the staff were wonderful, very helpful. The place was very quiet despite being being full booked, although I'm sure rooms at the front may not be so quiet. The rooms were great, except the cleaners don't seem to understand that the floors need to be cleaned occasionally. Also, the hotel advertises its free internet connection, but the computer seemed to be unreliable, as did the connection. However, I would definitely recommend this hotel.

It is a very nice hotel, located in the centre of Granada, very near to the Alhambra. We enjoyed our stay very much as the people were very friendly, the rooms were always clean, and everything else was fine as well. The only thing we did not like was the door to the bathroom which could not be closed completely - this could be improved perhaps...
