Great Hotel, staff and location(if you have a car). The Alhambra is 1Km away uphill although I have since found out that there is a regular bus which stops outside the Hotel. The area around the Plaza of St Ana is beautiful but difficult to find and even more difficult to park. Take a Sat Nav.

Have been to this hotel before, hence choice as it is in a good position to access and excellent for ease of getting to Aalhambra! It is also much better for parking too - as others in centre are a nightmare to drive to. The local bus stops very near and the No 33 runs regularly, only costing €1.20 and takes just five minutes to get right into centre. Plus a taxi back cost only €6 late at night. There was also a free hotel shuttle bus, but this only ran once at 11am, returning at 1pm every morning weekdays. It is in a very quiet suburb, next to a main road, ( some small noise level - not noticed from inside hotel). Apart from one small cafe across road at side of hotel, there is nothing else in this area but residential houses. Shops and supermarket on route into town centre - short drive or bus to, although we never required it. One aspect I would have preferred when booking hotel, would have been an easy way to select a room with a terrace, especially as we had a small group of friends and it would have been nice to gather privately. Wasn't quite sure how to get this when I originally booked (but this may be my fault, not the website!). However the room was big enough for all 5 of us to meet in and the aircon was excellent and quiet at night. Plus the bathroom, with a good shower had all the necessary toiletries, including a nice strong hair dryer! The hotel was liked by all our friends and they were impressed with the breakfast selection too! Commenting that it was much better than others! Also the outdoor swimming pool and lounge area were a welcome relief after much sight- seeing. We had nice meals and snacks in the hotel plus one at the restaurant next door, which was excellent too! Would highly recommend this hotel - especially for first time travellers to Granada for its ease of finding! (one-way roads in centre are confusing!) Plus the modern large reception and bar areas are spotless and a cool welcome from the hot weather!

Spacious modern rooms. A very good breakfast-worth the extra 10 euro's. It is a busy hotel, but the rooms are quiet. The staff is professional but could be more helpful. There are not many restaurants in the area and you need to take a bus- local, Alhambra or tourist- everywhere. The bus is convenient and inexpensive.

The Real de la Alhambra is a nice new hotel with good amenities and a location that is convenient both to the Alhambra and the central city of Granada either by city bus or private car (or by foot if you are very committed). The hotel does not have much character and sits in the blandest of all possible neighborhoods, just adjacent to the tunnel that provides access to Granada's ring road. The rooms are spacious and well appointed, the pool and terrace are quite nice, but the restaurant serves pretty mediocre food and wine, and the acoustics are jarring... chairs scrape, tables bang and voices bounce off the walls. You get the idea, it's ok but the hotel adds nothing special the experience of Granada and the Alhambra. Then again, it doesn't need to...

Located in the middle of nowhere, i.e. far from both city centre and Alhambra, guess that was the reason for the cheap price. Public transport OK, c. EUR8,- traxi drive from the centre. Breakfast below standard for a 4* Hotel.

This is a great top quality hotel however it is in the middle of no where. There's minimal restaurants etc around. The bus into town (33) goes often enough however the one to Alhambra outside the hotel (13) only goes every 1/2 hour, you need to be aware of that. The hotel itself is a true 4 star, with nice rooms and bathrooms. The buffet breakfast was also good and reasonable for a four star hotel at ten euro.Dont eat at the tavern/buffet down by the number 13 bus station it was terrible.

A wonderful quite new hotel. The fit out and quality of the property is better than most 5 star hotels. Its location is out of town a bit, so a car is needed or Taxi to and from town if you are heading out for Tapas or shopping or the Alhambra. There is a bus but the service is only 1/2 hourly. Apart from the transport issue this hotel is a real little treasure. J n C Perth Australa May 2010.

Nice clean, modern, upscale hotel at a good price for the quality. Didn't try any of the onsite amenities (spa, restaurant, etc.), but they looked nice, maybe a little overpriced. Staff spoke English and were nice and helpful. Check out the bar/crepe place a couple doors down - we loved it! Only downside is the location - it is not very close to the center of town. However, there is a convenient bus stop just outside the hotel. Had some trouble finding the right bus number and stop initially, and the tourist info people steered us wrong. You want bus #33, which has stops along Gran Via in the center of town. Also, you should go to the Alhambra - it was amazing. But if you do plan to, get tickets online as far ahead of time as you can, because they sell out quickly. We were lucky to get tickets on the day of (getting in line at 6 AM), but that is not a plan you should count on.

The only negatives are re: food. The breakfast buffet could have used a few more 'main course' selections. I had dinner one night and the service was abrupt bordering on rude. They were more interested in chatting w/one another than helping diners. Maybe this is my cultural bias; they were just not very friendly.

Excellent quality for the reasonable price - double room with breakfast was EUR 59.90 (we travelled mid March). Breakfast was very good, great variety of sweet and savoury and fresh orange juice. I would recommend the hotel to anyone and definitely stay there again if only I return to Granada.

The hotel more than lived up to expectations. It is located on the outskirts of the city but has a convenient bus stop for getting you into the city centre (cathedral) and has the convenience of an underground car park for a small additional fee. It is also right on the junction for access to the Alhambra by car and we understand from other guests that the nearest ski resort is only a 20 minute drive away. It is a modern well equipped hotel with very helpful staff and serves a very good variety of food at breakfast. Highly recommended!

We chose this hotel based on the reviews on the net and were completely thrilled with our choice. The hotel is absolutely fantastic. The rooms are extremely pleasant. Very comfortable bed, high cleanliness standards, pleasant decor. We also had wonderful views of the Sierra Nevada. The staff was friendly and helpful, although their English wasn't all that great. Breakfast was good. There was plenty of parking around the hotel so we never needed to use the hotel's parking. Even though the hotel is not in the center of town, it is very easy to get there by bus (a 10 minute ride), or even by car. Since the buses stop running a bit early (at 23:00), we found that when going out at night it made sense to take our car. My only complaint was that the cleaning staff turned off the air-conditioning in our room during the day which made the room rather warm at night. If this is important to you you should ask them not to do so. All in all, we had a wonderful stay at this hotel and I would highly recommend it to all types of travelers

Really enjoyed our three night stay. Very clean, air conditioned throughout, great nights sleep. Breakfast was fantastic and all the staff were very good. Reception made a point of supplying us with a local map and marked all the areas of interest, where to eat, where to shop etc. Not in walking distance of town but regular bus service from outside the front door, €1.20. Taxi back at night about €6. City sight seeing tour bus has a stop beside the hotel, passes every half hour, next stop Alhambra. Pool in shade from afternoon on, which was fine for just a cool down.

We were staying in Granada as our daughter will be studying at the University for a year. We used the hotel as a base for getting to know the city as well as a bit of sightseeing for 3 days. The hotel is fine, just a little too far outside of the city centre really. The walk to the city takes about 45 mins, but there is a good bus service [try it, it's easy - get an 'Oyster' type card from the driver - one card will do the whole family]. We also walked up the hill to the Alhambra [bit too long really] and buy tickets on line in advance! We queued for 2 hrs to get tickets to be told all we sold out for the morning and had to go in the afternoon. We only ate breakfast at the hotel - really good too. Meals seemed pricey as were bar drinks. The outside bar area was functional, rather too much traffic noise though. We never tried the pool - but it seemed popular. The reception was efficient and English was spoken. The rooms were clean - very modern and stylish. Apart from being on the outskirts, there is nothing negative to report - value for money I'd say.

Had not been to Granada before, so picked this off the internet. Anyway, Granada is a big city, so things can be a long way from each other. A new and trying-to-be upmarket hotel, with fairly reasonable for Spain. As others mentioned, is quite a long way from town alongside a highway roundabout, and also not really near the Alhambra. The No. 33 bus stops just outside and that was very convenient to get to town, but I do not think either place is an easy walking distance for most people. We were traveling with two children and had to rent two rooms as they have no family rooms, but they arranged to have those together. An annoying thing is that you have to leave the key in the power switch, and you only get 1 key, which made it a major hassle when two people wanted to do different things. Parking is 10 euros. The pool is outside, so although it was open it was very cold in April! There was not food available after about 10PM. There are a couple of restaurants nearby, and the one we went to (next door) was quite good. Would probably not stay here again, but would look for something closer to the center of town.

We traveled by car so we choose this hotel firstly for the price comparing with the quality and secondary for it's location. We also could find easily free parking around the hotel. In Granada parking is not easy but we managed every time to find some space around Paseo de la Bomba and Paseo de Salon streets with 1,4 euros for around 5 hours. The location of the hotel helped us moving in and out of Granada to excursions around Sierra Nevada and the Alpujarras, very fast and easily. All of the hotel staff were very helpful and polite. Everyone spoke English and we had no problem with everything we asked them. If you don't mind staying near the center we recommend this hotel. Of course you have to know that the price we payed (for 3 nights) had an average of 64 euro for a double room without breakfast.

This hotel was one of our favorites in a three week stay around Spain and Portugal. The staff was wonderful, helpful, and many spoke English which is great. We booked an economy room, so did not expect such service and beauty. Another good point is the hotel still had the air conditioning on. The hotel was surprisingly inexpensive, but it was July in Granada. Staff was cut down to the bare minimum but all were nice. We had difficulty finding it from web directions and it is outside the city inserts on maps of Spain, but it actually is easy to get to. The room was luxurious, taxis and buses are easy to get. Nice pool. It was easily the best bargain of the places we stayed. The rooms and lobby seem decorated for the business traveller, but it exceeded what we had been staying in as far as amenities. Very good hotel in Granada. Cons: not central and hard to find. Pros: Spacious and clean room, 9 euro parking with in and out privilages. Very helpful staff. A bus right next to the hotel takes 15 min. to get to the centre of Granada. Alhambra is 10 min. away by car or 30 min. walk (only for experienced walkers, nasty uphill walk). Overall, a good value for the money in otherwise overpriced and unfriendly Spain.

we chose this hotel as a base to visit the Alhambra palace and whilst the hotel is slightly a out of town, this did not detract from the enjoyment of our stay as it is a pleasant walk to the town centre (most of the walk can be along the riverside). There is an excellent bus service (13 and 33?)at a cost of 1 euro each per journey. the number 13 will take you directly to the palace. all in all a great hotel

It was our first time to Granada and to Spain. It was one of the finest hotels that we ever stayed in, and it defintely was the finest hotel that we ever stayed in in our ten nights in Spain.

I strongly recommend this hotel: the staff is really kind, and the hotel is new and has a wonderful swimming pool. It is not far from the Alhambra (5 min by car) and not far from Granada downtown (5 min by car). It is quite easy to fink parking outside the hotel.

Very good modern hotel with competent staff. There's not much nearby, other than a motorway (which is handy if you have a car - you can't hear the noise from the hotel). We had to rely on taxis to get into central Granada. It's an unpleasant 35 minute walk uphill to the Alhambra ticket office - during the day there is an (infrequent) bus to the Alhambra.

I am astill amazed from staying in the Hotel. Just a great, beautiful and modern still cozy hotel where all details have been carefully thought and sorrounded by the nice Sierra view. Great service and all staff very nice and helpfull people. Location is just 10 minutes in bus from the magical city center of Granada. All this for a great price. Whenever you go the spectacular Granada, don´t miss staying at the Macia Real. Simply one of top best hotels I have stayed in when in Europe.

The welcoming is excellent. The price is really cheap for a hotel 4*. It is very easy to go to the center of Granada and alhambra with the bus.

This is a lovely, new four star hotel that I highly recommend. The only downside is that it is a little out of the main centre, however it is on the main road to the Alhambra and regular buses will deliver you either to the centre of town in 10-15 minutes or to the Alhambra in 5 mintues. It is well worth this (only slight) inconvenience however as the price and quality of this hotel are excellent. It also has a pool which was fantastic for those hot Andalusian afternoons.
