Austria, Oct 2009
in one of the two beds was a mattress-protection made of India rubber, which rustled in a very annoying way, and made me sweat, due to lack of air. Also there was a terrible noise from some kind of machine ( possible some refrigerator for the kitchen ? ) The water-pressure is obviously too high and this is also very noisy, specially when flushing the toilet

Hotel is in great location for visiting Alhambra but is not so good for restaurants and bars which are down in the town centre-4 to 5 Euro taxi ride. Service in the bar was terrible and he didn't even know how to make a Mojito- in Spain! Restaurant was OK. Hotel address on reservation was wrong, which created some confusion in trying to find the place.Hotel itself and room are ok for the price paid, room is a reasonable size for Europe.

Perfectly located for Alhambra visits, however the downside is noisy rooms (at least those facing the road and the busy bus parking area for Alhambra entry). Overall an ok hotel for a city tour to Granada. Clean, friendly staff, rooms adaquately equipped, but rather small (especially the bathroom was very small). Breakfast at best average, restaurant other than for breakfast not tried (ample alternatives in Granada available)

The staff was very helpful on arrival and during a 3 night stay. Directions on hotel web page helpful. Easy bus ride to enter of town. Easy walk to Alhambra. A real complaint was that the beds were too firm. Almost like sleeping on tile floor.

We thought hotel price was expensive and the breakfast left a lot to be desired. The croissant and other pastry were stale; the coffee was sweetened and horrible. No unsweetened yoghurt. Very disappointing, overall.

Hotel was comfortable. Breakfast was dear for what it was. Plumbing was variable to say the least - one minute the water gushed out, 1/2hr later there was no water at all!!!!

It is well located if you want to visit the Alhambra, the entrance is just in front of the hotel. But if you want to visit the city center, you will have to take a bus because it is quite far and the hotel is located on a hill so it is tired to go up and down. The service is really good, spacious rooms.

Parking is across the street at the ALhambra parking lot which is extremely expensive. The staff there were not helpful at all. Almost better to stay further into the city and bus to the Alambra. Hotel very nice, restaurant had excellent food and reasonable prices.

Nice hotel right across from Alhambra. This makes it a bit isolated from everything else. At night you either eat at the hotel or take the bus into town. You get discounted parking at the Alhambra parking lot (13.5 Euro/night). Excellent staff.

Absolutely brilliant! The room was very spacious and, along with the balcony, overlooked Alhambra, which was truly inspiring. The entrance to Alhambra, our reason for being in Granada, was a 1 minute stroll away. The bathroom with the Jacuzzi was impeccable. We couldn't have asked for more.

great place to visit the Alhambra, since hotel is close to the entrance and you have to lign up before 8 a.m. to get tickets for that day. There is a very good bus connection to the city centre, if you don't want to eat dinner at the hotel.

Just the right accommodation for those whose main interest in Granada is the Alhambra. Of course it also helps that Granada is not such a big place, that all other points of interest are very close to it.

on our 2nd night we wanted to drink sth in the bar of the hotel, but they said they were closed. Then we went to the reception to ask for a solution and the receptionist told us to get sth from our minibar. We said that our minibar had been empty from the beginning and then she asked the people from the bar to make an exception for us. The next day on the hallway a cleaner was very apologetic to us for the empty minibar.

Nice hotel located right next to the Alhambra - very convenient for a short stay and visit - with parking at the alhambra (hotel has special price)- Employees are very friendly. There are minibus departing from the alhambra to go to Granada which is also very convenient to visit the city. Only low point is the room quietness - rooms are not very well soundproof.

It is the nearest hotel to the ticket office of Alhambra. If you do not reserve the entrance ticket to Alhambra, I recommend you to stay Guadalupe. On 31st Dec., I went to the ticket office at 6:45 am to get the ticket and found a queue that was made by more than 15 people.

Wonderful hotel for the money. Great location, bathrooms are very well equipped and clean. The only cons I could say about it: WiFi did not work properly in the room, only in the lobby. And the restaurant was not very good, neither for breakfast nor for dinner (a shame in Spain) and a bit expensive too. In spite of these minor issues, the hotel is great and the employees are very helpful.

A great base for visiting the Alhambra - couldn't be more convenient. A fair walk into the old town, but taxis are plentiful and extremely cheap. Best rooms are on the top floor facing the Alhambra - try to specify in booking. Restaurant OK but better choice of food in the old town. Extremely helpful desk staff speaking excellent English. Our friends in room 409 complained of noise from the next door room (the beds appeared to be back to back with only a thin wall between), but we had no problems with ours. Would definitely recommend the hotel to other travellers.

Hotel was ok overall. The annex where we were located has rooms that were rather dark (not enough lights), had tvs with many of the channels which were listed as available being unavailable, and the annex is a little inconvenient in the rain. Hotel is very convenient for the Alhambra, is an easy walk downhill to the town, but you will want to take the bus (no 30 or 32) up from the town. Staff were helpful (but very busy) and the restaurant was good.

United Kingdom, Oct 2008
This hotel is yards from the Alhambra entrance, and it would not be possible to get any closer. The staff were incredibly helpful, and the restaurant very good (good value too). My only reservation is that you can hear all the other guests coming up to bed and moving about and the plumbing is noisy, but there would be no point in staying there if you want night life, so everyone had settled down by about 11.30. If you are driving, follow the signs to the Alhambra and park in their car park (the hotel will give you special rates for it) - do not get driving directions from Google.

4th visit and planning to return. A lovely traditional Spanish hotel only moments from the alhambra Palace - Spain's No.1 tourist attraction and not to be missed. Take the Alhambra bus (stops a few yards away) into the city - NOT the CityBus tour which is too large to go into the intersting places.

If the Alhambra is the only reason for your trip to Granada the Guadalupe should be a good choice. It's stay a few meters from Alhambra's main entrance. The hotel service is really good and the employees were not only competent but also very kind. The rooms are clean but not to spacious. The AC wasn't working well. The bathroom however is big, clean and modern. The main problem however was the hotel location. Although it stay really close to the Alhambra, it's far from anything else. If you wishes to visit the rest of Granada, it would be better to book somewhere close to the Catedral.

I had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Guadalupe only one night, but I would definitely return! My review may be biased, since I was given an upgraded room due to the fact that the hotel had overbooked all the rooms at my reserved rate. So, I ended up with a fabulously huge room with a queen size bed, air-con, and very large ensuite bath with jacuzzi tub. Quite nice for only 53.50euro/~$80.00 night!). I liked the fact that the hotel is literally across the street from the Alhambra ticket office (it made my early-morning visit very convenient), although some folks may be happier closer to the center of town. There are only a handful of eating options in the immediate area (the hotel has its own restaurant and bar, and there are two or three inexpensive restaurants and a pricier place within a five-minute walk), however it was easy enough to catch the shuttle bus that runs into the center of town, as the stop was just a few hundred feet downhill of the hotel. All in all, I give Hotel Guadalupe a big thumbs up!

Location is fantastic, especially for visit to Alhambra. If you want to be out in town all night you may prefer something downtown. However, both the walk and short bus ride down to the Albaycin/Plaza Nueva area is nice - the Alhambra woods are leafy and shady. Front desk staff very nice, spoke excellent English and knew our room numbers without asking. Room 412 is recommended: top floor with large terrace with views of Alhambra (the sunset!) and up to Sierra Nevada. Shifting your luggage from the P1 carpark is a bit laborious, some steps and curbs to be negotiated. Soundproofing of rooms not very good, neighbours can be heard if they are loud, and the toilet flushing noise is a bit of a nuisance. Like in many Spanish hotels, beds are hard and pillows thin (strange how pillow preferences vary between different countries). Hotel ambiance very nice with attractive decor. Breakfast buffet adequate for 9 EUR. Do not rely on the tourist bus for trips downtown: you get to city centre only at end of tour and last return trip from there is at 8 PM. Definitely recommend hotel taking into account the comments above.

We only stayed one night, our purpose being that of visiting the Alhambra Palace. The most important thing was to find a place close to it, so it was excellent from this point of view. If you want to visit Granada this is probably not the best place to stay, as it is quite far from the center of the city, but there are buses which can take you anywhere you want, so it shouldn't be such a big problem. The rooms are spacious and quite clean and comfortable, but if you have some noisy neighbours, you will surely hear almost everything they are saying. But, all in all, it's a fair 3 stars hotel, although it looks more like a motel. If you're looking for some entertainment, maybe it is not the right place to stay in, as there are no clubs in the area and only 2 or 3 restaurants.

This hotel is only 200 meters from the ticket booth for the Alhambra and another 300 delightful meters to the main entrance. It really could not be more convenient. The bus to the center of Granada is at the ticket office, but it is only a lovely 15 min. walk downhill to the heart of town. The walk back up is fine for most people.

Hotal Guadalupe is in an excellent location, only one minute's walk from the entrance to the Alhambra. This makes it easy to get to the hotel (there are buses from downtown Granada to the Alhambra every few minutes) and easy to get to the main sight in the town. The hotel was excellent. My only reservation was that I would have preferred to have not had a non-smoking room and was not given the option through the booking system. Perhaps you could put that in the 'other comments' when making the booking. Otherwise highly recommended for a visit to Granada and the Alhambra!

This was a perfectly adequate base for our visit to Granada but no more than that. Staff were pleasant but hotel lacked public facilities (e.g. decent bar, pleasant restaurant, swimming pool. fitness centre etc. most or all of which would have been available in a hotel of this class and price in east Asia.

There are shuttle buses from cathedral/city center so easy access til about 10:30pm although it's quite a ways uphill from all the central areas if walking. Location is perfect for visiting Alhambra, right next to ticket office. Buy palace tickets well in advance or quota might be full! we got a corner room with two windows, which was good, since there was no option of cooling, only heat, and our only option was to open the windows; it was bad, however, ince bugs found our room very cosy. Parking is only available at the Al Hambra parking lot, and it is a bit expensive. The location, however, is great, especially if you only plan to go to the Al Hambra (with advance tickets, of course). The breakfast was very nice. Overall Nice+.

We had room 412, with a huge balcony overlooking the Alhambra -- clearly the best room in the whole hotel, by pure chance. This is DEFINITELY the best room since the terrace is much bigger and the view much better than any other room. Ask for it; I think the other rooms would be vastly less interesting.

Good overall. We had one run in with one waitress at breakfast. She did not re-set the breakfast tables so we sat at one of the tables she had set for lunch. She gave us a long and rude stare. Then she came over to the table and grabbed all the remaining serviettes before telling us off. Also, the plumbing is very loud. We could hear flushing of toilet from the room next door.

This is a wonderful, small hotel. The room was large and the bathroom was very modern with lots of hot water and thick towels. The view from the small balcony was of beautiful, rolling hills. Breakfast was very good and the hotel's location, close to the Alhambra, can't be beaten. Front desk staff were very helpful and they held our luggage for the day until we could retrieve it for our flight. Very quiet even though it's on a main road. Great place if you are looking for a nice, not expensive hotel that's right next to the Alhambra. The hotel is right next to the Alhambra, so if you are only visiting the Alhambra, it's a perfect location. If you are staying a few days and only spending one of those in the Alhambra, then you may find yourself constantly having to get down into town. Luckily that is easy with a 15 minute walk down (20-25 mins coming up though!) or a cheap mini-bus which is regular during the day but stops a bit early for Spanish lifestyle. A taxi fare back to the hotel is also pretty cheap though sometimes a bit hard to find. Our room was small, a bit old and probably due for a refurb. They are in the process of rolling out wifi so while it was not expected, our room had marginal access which was a bonus. No doubt it will be better when completed. If you want wifi you may want to request a room in the completed area. Don't get caught on the breakfast buffet. They offered continental breakfast or full buffet so we chose (we thought) a continental buffet - avoided all the hot cooked stuff. Turns out that they only do full buffet -- continental is served to you. So there was confusion when we got the bill, but they came through and gave us the continental price so credit for good customer service for that!

We had been given rooms at the back, going to a yard with the ventilation shafts which made noises throughout the night. The air cond. had been cut off (late October) so we had the choice between not sleeping because of the heat (windows closed) or of the noise(windows opened). When we complaint in the morning, we were offered free breakfast. So apart from the noise: very helpful staff, large rooms, rather good value for money, but stay away from rooms 210-212!

I recently travelled to Granada for the first time with 3 other female friends. We arrived at the Guadalupe at approximately 10.45 local time.I was greeted by name by very pleasant and friendly reception staff. Our rooms were clean and very adequate for our needs. The staff were able to advise us on the best way to book tickets for a visit to the magical Alhambra Palace. This is only 3 minuets walk away and we were able to book tickets and then return for a leisurely breakfast. On arrival at that time of night we were unable to have anything substantial to eat, unless we went back to the city centre. However after being supplied with very generous Gin & Tonics nuts and delicious olives.,this was not a problem. WE altered our plans and asked if we could stay an extra night and although the Hotel was very busy, the staff managed to find us a quadruple room for our last night which was perfect and cheaper. We all agreed that we would use this Hotel again.

This really is a great hotel, especially at the very good rate we obtained through venere. There was a little bit of an issue with noise from the hallway, but the rooms are large, modern, and clean. The real (possible) issue is the location. It's up on the hill adjacent to the Alhambra. While this is great for visiting the Alhambra itself, it's really inconvenient for everything else; all of the other sites, restaurants, and interesting neigborhoods are either a long, steep walk or a bus ride away. While the buses do run pretty frequently, they are almost always packed, and paying 1 euro per person to go up or down the hill several times a day can get a bit costly. But if you don't mind that inconvenience (or the Alhambra is your main goal in Granada), I'd highly recommend this hotel.

The Guadalupe is a good choice if you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel close to the Alhambra. We stayed one night in a double room. The room itself was clean, well maintained and very spacious, with a pleasant bathroom, aircon and TV. Staff were helpful and spoke good English, and ensured we got a taxi in plenty of time for our early flight. We didn't have breakfast, but did have lunch in the bar. It was of a similar standard to most other food in Granada (i.e. poor). We didn't try the restaurant. If visiting Granada do take time to research somewhere to eat as good restaurants are few and far between. Overall a good place to stay, especially if you intend to visit the Alhambra.

Excellent hotel, great value for money, though the bed was a bit hard and plumbing noisy! There's an excellent restaurant. We didn't have breakfast as we thought it was expensive, but there's a shop 20 metres away that sells sandwiches, cold drinks, snacks and beer! There's also a cafe/restaurant next door (The Yedra)which is very good value. The location of the Guadalupe is excellent, about 100m uphill from the entrance to the Alhambra. Regular buses from here to city centre (every 10 mins or less!) Only 1 euro. The City Tour Bus stops in the car park directly opposite the hotel entrance. I recommend purchasing a city pass. This costs about 24 euro and is valid for 5 or 7 days. It gives you entrance to the Alhambra and gardens; entrance to the cathedral and other monuments; a 24 hr pass on the 'hop-on, hop-off' city tour bus (a must!) and also 9 bus journeys. breakfast is expensive and its price is written nowhere (neither in the rooms nor at the restaurant). You have to ask for it... The woman at the desk is not friendly. Otherwise the hotel is ok;

Excellent hotel, wonderful and helpful stuff (they did help us with car rental, directions to Sevilla, money exchange, etc.), excellent location from Alhambra grounds (the hotel is practically across the street from the ticket office), access to minibuses, taxis, etc. I wish all of our hotels would've been like that.

The hotel has a second building about 6 doors up the road from the main building. It was comfortable but inconvenient to have to travel to the main building for all hotel services. The dining room staff were not always excellent--some tended to treat guests rather too mechanically. Otherwise an excellent hotel for the money.

Ths was our first visit to Spain and we were pleasantly surprised at the high standard of Hotel Guadalupe. The excellent location just 50 meters from the entrace to the Alhambra & Generalife Gardens was a major factor in our decision to stay at this hotel. Our double room was spacious, comfortable and and the facilities were excellent. The buffet breakfast was substantial and the dinner menu offered a good selection of Andalusian fare at reasonable prices. The hotel also has a cafe area which offers lunchtime snacks although we did not use this facility. The hotel staff were polite and courteous at all times and the reception staff were helpful and knowledgeable, offering advice on local transport and sightseeing.

Extremely helpful bi-lingual staff who assisted us through problems with hire car breakdown. Very useful for Alhambra visit, car parking and 1 euro public transport to city centre
