Hotel Reviews Casa del Capitel Nazarí

Tiny room, really hard mattress, but a charming place. Plumbing is nearly from the 16th century (a joke, but with a grain of truth). 3 story building, stairs only. An upper floor room could be hard on an older traveller with luggage.

We picked this hotel because it was the highest-rated that fit our budget. It's not a terrible hotel, and it is in a good location, but our experience did not live up to the ecstatic reviews by some previous reviewers. The room was small but not as small as (e.g.) hotel rooms in Japan. The real problem is poor layout, especially lack of shelf/counter/desk space, including in the bathroom. We had to keep all our stuff in our suitcases. The bed was astonishingly hard. Breakfast is extra, taxes are extra. The Spanish hotels we reserved through hotels.com were quoted inclusive of all taxes, but this one, booked through Venere, required paying 7% more for VAT. In most of Europe, radiators must have thermostatic valves by law, but here there was only a manual valve, so the room was always either too hot or too cold.

the hotel is situated in a quiet lane only a few steps from plaza nueva in the centre of granada. the main patio with its historic pillars is stunning, the breakfast area and the rooms are tastefully decorated in the local style with attention to every detail (even the hotel keys have a tag which displays local marquetry).

The Hotel Casa del Nazari is a wonderful hotel and we will probably stay there again if and when we return to Granada.

Husband and I had very attractive antique room with an outside window. The Hotel was picturesque rather than modern and there was no bar fridge or phone, not that we required either. Location was perfect as far as being close to everything. The worst problem was the workmen on the site next door, where they were converting an old house into another hotel I would guess. The drilling went on all night and we all complained, there wasn't a sound the next night. The coffee was awful, everything else fine. I would go back again as long as the workmen had finished. Service very good, staff friendly and helpful.

The hotel itself was very nice and had a great atmosphere. The room was far too small and the bed for two grown-ups absolutely ridiculuous!!!

Good location in Granada. Will need to park a 10-15 minute walk away from hotel. We parked at San Augustin parking, the closest, and paid 20 Euros to park overnight (the hotel has deals with two parking areas at 14-15 Euros per night, but not the parking area closest to the hotel). Shower was very small for my 6'4" husband to fit in!

Great location. Steps away from where you want to be in Grenada. Historic area of town. Staff was helpful and welcoming. No problem if you are a woman travelling alone to walk to this hotel. A/C worked well. Breakfast was not included. Clean and well kept.

Lovely little hotel in a quiet location, but just a few steps from Plaza Nueva. Quite easy to find - 3rd turn off on the left from the top end of the square. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and comfortable. Will definitely stay there again if we revisit Granada.

Rooms were exceptionally small with no real view and little natural light. Our double room had one double bed, a small table, and one straight-back chair that doubled for a night table. When luggage was added there was little room to walk around. However, the hotel was in an excellent location for visiting the Alhambra.

the only thing that slightly marred the stay was the sight of building work going on outside the bedroom window. i realise this was unavoidable. The noise of other rooms air conditioning was also a bit disturbing. Otherwise i cannot fault the hotel- it is very pretty in a lovely location.

Whilst the hotel rooms are small, the public areas more than compensate for this. The free coffee available during the afternoon is a nice touch. The location of the hotel is perfect. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Charming hotel, the family opinions were diveded, some loved it others just liked it. A major drawback for future visits is the lack of elevators, as it becomes very demanding for older folks. Also the access is not staightforward. Otherwise it is ahistoric building in a good historical location.

I was very happy with this hotel. All the staff were extremely kind and helpful and I am very grateful to them. This hotel is charming and peaceful and although my room was not entirely free from sound, it did feel like a refuge. The breakfast was good and most importantly the coffee was good too. It always amazes me how many hotels work so hard to provide comfort and security with good food but then somehow manage to spoil it all with bad coffee. This happens even in Italy and France ! I recommend this hotel.

A good choice of hotel in the Albaicin. Close to historical monuments and nightlife. I would use this hotel again.

it is a charming small hotel, but the room was small too. don't bring much laguage with you. the people are very friendly and competent. the patio is beautiful. in the nigth it was very loud...the customers which were comming home at 2 o'clock woke me up, and the couple "doing it" woke me up twice....

We found the hotel to be very good, the public areas were tastefully decorated and the bedrooms were warm and and well presented, bathrooms were on the small side but well appointed. There was no bar although each room had a mini bar. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Parking was a problem as the recommended car parks were full and there was no refund for additional costs. There are plenty of places to eat and drink within a minute or two's walk from the hotel and the view of the Alhambra at night is stunning.

We arrived at midnight after a long journey with all the anxieties of negotiating a new city. We reached the hotel and nothing could have been better. Even underfloor heating in the bathroom. Rich in atmosphere and a sense of history, excellebnt location, friendly staff. Perhaps space around the bed was tight and I am not keen on deux lits acting as a double bed but if you are going to Granada, don't miss this hotel, it adds to the wonder of a remarkable city. Also, the problems of negotiating the streets to get to the hotel shouldn't put people off... as long as you don't try to drive to the door (which you can't) it is straightforward.

The hotel is a very stylish place. Located directly in the Albayzin near to Plaza Nueva. It is VERY hard to find if you don´t know the whereabout. Even if you found the street, the entrance to the hotel is not very wellcoming, because you have to ring a bell near a big and very closed wooden door. After you entered, the pleasure begins. A romantic patio surrounded by the nasrid pillars, which gave the name to the hotel. A fountain completes the oriental athmosphere. The rooms are situated round teh pation in 3 floors. Look at the ceiling when you step up the stairs! The room and bathrom was very clean, but very small. This is the price, you have to pay to live in a real sixteenth century athmosphere. The breakfast was ok, but not included and at a price of 8,- € we stuck to a boccadillo and a cortado in one of the cafés at plaza nueva. Last but not least there is one BIG nuisance: The parking lot is about 25 min from the hotel at puerta real. At the hotel there is absolutely NO possibility to park a car (minimum 5min walking). Casa Capitel Nazaris is a great plce to stay when you are in Granada. It is in the center of the old town, near plaza nueva with its pubs and cafés within 10min to the Alhambra and with an ambient that transports you back in time into the 16. century. We enjoyed our stay there.

refurbishment of property done well. We were glad of the air-conditioning. The only slight criticism is about the parking. We had not ralised that there is absolutely no road access directly to the property and that a taxi ride from a carpark was inevitable. We spent some time trying to find the hotel from our car but without success! The instructions could have been clearer.

This property is well located and perfect for the foot traveller. We had a little trouble finding the hotel as a taxi could not take us to the door. The signs pointing us to the hotel involved walking up a number of stairs. Actually there was an easier way from the square to get to the hotel. We found this route once we stared waliing around. The signage to the hotel could be better. Other than that we enjoyed our stay.

We had a lovely time, and really enjoyed our stay at the Casa del Capitel nazari. The only comment was that the emergency light in the room was a bit intrusive; the little orange lights were quite bright when other lights were out. Perhaps if the light wasn't facing the bed, to one side (over bathroom door or opposite).
