This property was deceiving in its photographs and wording. It should have been advertised as a Hostal because that is what it was. Our stay there was poor due to a bad smell and lack of room to move in our room. The girls at the front desk were lovely however overall would not recommend this place to others.

Nice, clean and spacious rooms, very nice receptionists and a great location (with a nice terrace to boot), but unfortunately a bit noisy. The hotel is on one floor and the reception/bar area is not separated from the rooms. You can also hear some noise from upstairs. Great value for money as far as the room goes, but could be annoying if you are a light sleeper.

The most comfortable hotel beds I have slept on, ever! The hotel, while only 8 rooms, offering very basic amenties, and strangely situated on the fourth floor of a nondescript building, was excellent. The rooms were clean, beds comfy, nice bathrooms. Located in a quiet neighborhood, the hotel is within walking distance to the cathedral and not far from the Alhambra and Albacin. Staff was very nice and helpful. Only stayed one night, but would recommend as a good value.

We are a couple of American teachers living in Europe, traveling frequently but trying to travel frugally. We also try to frequent "local" places with some charm, not big chains. Carlos V was great, and a really great value for the money, especially on weeknights (we paid XX on Saturday and XXX Sunday through Thursday). Our room faced an interior couryard, so it was very quiet (left the window open at night no problem), but the downside was that it did not have wifi as advertised (I think that _most_ of the rooms do). This was not a big problem, as there were many public spaces to use, but if you need it in your room, be sure to specify. The breakfast area had a nice patio with lovely views. All the attractions of the old town were quite walkable from the hotel, and transit connections were easy. The night receptionist did not speak English (but was friendly enough) but the day staff all did. They helped out with hiking recommendations and found a place to safely store our bikes we rented overnight as well. I would happily stay here again. Recommended.

I was in Granada 4 days and I found myself very well at the Hotel Carlos V. The location is very strategic, I turned the city on foot. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The only drawback is that the room feel much noise in the corridor and hallway.

Whilst the street entrance to the hotel is a little confusing (the hotel reception is actually on the 4th floor)and the ground floor foyer not particularly welcoming, the hotel is good for a short stay with friendly staff who spek english and rooms which are clean, well appointed and of adequate size. The hotel is within walking distance of the Alhambra. We would be more than happy to stay at this hotel on future visits.

Despite the parking facilities available (15 euros per day), it is definitely not recommended if you have a car! The hotel is at the top of a hill accessible only by very very narrow (barely wide enough for our Peugeot 308) one way streets. Despite having a GPS and being within only half a kilometer from the place, it took us over an hour to find. I stopped several times to ask locals for directions and each time they described the route by car as almost impossible. So if you are driving yourself, don't stay here. Other than that I would recommend it. It is very clean and has a very modern decor. It is situated in a mixed use residential building which can be disconcerting at first but is nevertheless fine. It is in a good location but you might want to take a taxi to get there is you have a lot of luggage and don't want to drag it up the hill.

This hotel is located in the 4th floor of a building. Close to city center and only a bus away from Alhambra which cost Eur 1.2 but me and my sister just walked about 15 minutes. Hotel is super clean, very very clean, the bathroom was superb. Kristin, Enrique and Anna (all at the front desk) are kind and really helpful. I will definitely return if i ever come back to Granada. Price and Quality value are perfect.

The hotel was very nice and in a great location. The staff was very friendly, but the person at the desk at night didn´t speak any English, so be ready to use Spanish in the evening. The internet wasn´t very consistent in the room but they have computers in the lobby that fine. The balcony is nice to sit on, and there is a grocery store next door and lots of places to eat all around. I would come back and recommend this to anyone.

We had a family room that easily fitted 2 teenage girls with a good bathroom. Great location with an easy walk to everywhere you need to go. The service was superb with Mariana and Kristin on the front desk so helpful and friendly - nothing was a problem no matter what the question. The hotel is beside the main tapas street so there are plenty of eating options. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel but went to a cafe recommended by Mariana which was 2 minutes walk in the Plaza Mariana Pineda called Cafe Football. Don't let the name put you off as its full of locals and you can have a very good coffee and standard Spanish cafe breakfast.

We stayed the Carlos V for one night in September '09. A great little Hotel for seeing the sights of Granada. My only negative comments would be that I found the rooms a little noisy, from internal hotel noise and that there wasn't a proper breakfast provided. Having said that,it was possible to get a coffee and croissant to get you started. My overall view was VERY, VERY good value for money and VERY, VERY Clean.

Great service and decent location! There are many bus stops, restaurants, shops and bars/pubs close to the location. The hotel is a bit hard to find, due to it being located on the floor of a building. Below the building, there is a supermarket and a law enforcement building around the corner. There is food available and protection around the corner. The Alhambra is not too close, but can be reached by foot if one chose to walk to it.

The hotel has a great relationship price/quality. It is cheap but the rooms are really nice! It looks a three/four stars hotel. It is small and located in the city center. The only bad thing is that you have to park the car in a private parking that costs 18 euros a day.

I was happily surprised when we arrived at our hotel. It is small but quaint and fairly newly remodeled. It actually turned out to be my favorite and cheapest place that we stayed at in Spain. It is close to the bus line to and from the Granada and within walking distance to the Royal Chapel and Cathedral. It was also quiet at night. I would recommend staying here to anyone!

The large entrance was a welcoming arrival for two tired tourists, just off the red-eye from Madrid. The hotel is situated in the town centre and within walking distance (or if it's raining, a short bus ride) of Alhabmra and surrounded by shops, cafés and bars. With wonderful views from the communal balcony of sierra nevada's snowy peaks to one side and narrow winding local streets to the other that invite you to explore this inspiring town. With such friendly and extremely helpful staff I would recommend this hotel and don't forget the early-morning strong coffee and warm croissant on the balcony.

Location of hotel is very central and walking distance to the market, main shops and restaurants. There are bus stops and taxi stand close by which makes the hotel easily reachable. This hotel occupies the fourth floor of a much larger building. There is no actual hotel lobby, and you have to take the elevator to reception. The rooms are fine, but the public 'lounge' area consists of cheap tables and chairs and vending machines. Breakfast is not really available at the hotel unless you like your coffee from a vending machine. The location is superb and the price is good. If you want to spend your time out seeing the town, you will probably be satisfied. If you are arriving by car, make sure that you print out the excellent, illustrated driving directions. It would be pretty near impossible to find your way here otherwise.

Hotel is actually a converted apartment on 4th floor of block. Not easy to find at first. Room size was adequate but the bath-room was a little cramped. The shower smelled very bad and was difficult to live with, rather like a sewer. Otherwise reasonable value. No served breakfast only machines for coffee €1 each and vending machines for snacks. There is a pleasant room and balcony to enjoy this at any time of the day. Location was a little out of the way and at the top of a steepish hill. About a 30 minute walk to the alhambra but the 32 bus stops nearby and you can use that instead as it takes you straight there.

This is a terrific hotel, and in terms of quality of accomodation in relation to price I would say it's hard to beat, it's situated of a small square close to the police station and close to Navas street which has lots of eating places one of which is called cafeteria Marisol, where the lady running it was most helpful in explaining the menus and offering to prepair food to our tastes and it was also very reasonably priced. there is a super market beside the hotel, which was very handy for bottles of water at 26cents as opposed to 1 to 2 euro eleswhere, the reception staff at the hotel took our postcards and put them in the mail for us, saved any hassel finding a post office. the tabacs sell stamps. The hotel has two computers with internet connection at reception, and one has the facility to print at 10cents per page, which was very handy so that we could book in online with our airline and print our boarding passes, Wi-Fi is available, but if you want use this in your room, I would suggest you ask for a room close to reception I was in a room which was at a distance from reception and couldn't receive a signal, this was only a minor inconvenience, anyone staying in this hotel I imagine will have a pleasant and comfortable stay

Very very nice hotel for the travelers who want to enjoy the atmosphere of the historcal city, and good for staying for 2 or more nights. It is quite easy to find it if you ask in the tourist information at the nearest plazza on the way to the hotel. It stands in the quiete area, and there is a direct bus to the alhambra. We went to the castle on foot. But it was not a long way. The staff was very kind.

The hotel was extremely good value for money - the price on venere.com was considerably less than the price shown in the hotel for a room. It is within easy reach of the centre of Granada. We failed to request a 'cama de matrimonio' in the booking but they were able to change the room for us on arrival. We had free wifi in the room, which was on the small size but otherwise excellent. It was very clean and the staff were friendly and competent. We were able to arrange to check out late on the last day for a small charge which was helpful. I would thoroughly recommend the hotel as a base for exploring Granada.

The attraction of this hotel for us was the quoted "20 min" walk to the Alhambra but the steepness of this walk made it impractable. Considering we had to resort to using the buses we would of been better off staying in a cheaper hotel on the edge of the city which had better facilities. the hotel does not have any carparking facilities and the qouted 10 euros for a nearby garage turned out to be 15 euros for each 24 hours or any part there of. If you want to be in the city centre and only intend staying one night fine but there are better options elsewhere and the low cost buses make it very easy to get about the city

Bloody difficult to find. Can locate on the city map BUT actually getting near the place in a car is very difficult and took us 1hr and a half. The streets in the area are incredibly narrow and form a v. difficult to navigate one-way system. Parking is close but still €15/night. We changed rooms after the 2nd night but had to wait 2hrs in the lounge with our things before we could move. This caused considerable stress as we were booked into the alhambra 2-2:30pm. Made it, just with 3min to spare.

This hotel far exceeded our expectations given that it only has 1 star. It is situated on the fourth floor of the building with access via a grand public entrance hall. Out of hours the outer door is locked and you have to use the intercom to get in. As stated, the rooms have been refurbished to a modern style and are very comfortable. We had a standard double room with en-suite shower (which was excellent). When we originally booked there were few photographs on the Venere site but they have now been increased and give a good indication of what you get. We did notice that the walls were quite thin and you could easily hear people in adjacent rooms. Our room was located at the back of the hotel so did not suffer from traffic or refuse collection noise mentioned by others. The hotel is well located in the old part of the city and a good base for walking around the tourist areas. There is a small balcony with excellent views over the city. We were slightly disappointed with the (optional) breakfast and suggest using a local cafe in the nearby square. Cafe Futbol is very nice (and has nothing to do with football!!). The tourist information office is in the same square. Overall this is hotel is excellent value and we would stay there again.

Great hotel, but once again we didn't get the room as pictured in venere. We were pretty disappointed about that. We ended up getting a huge room with three twin beds in it. Not exactly romantic but it worked out. The service was good. The location was good about 20 minutes walking distance from the alahambra. 24 hr computer access was available in the lobby. The rooms were not exactly well insualted we could here everything going on in the lobby but we did have a bathroom in our room. Nice, quaint hotel we would recommend it to couples.

The hotel is located on th 4th floor of a building, very impressive main hall, and very quiet place. Despite the works that were carried out in the surrounding areas, there is little noise to disturb your stay during the day. It is very conveniently located, close to the cathedral, a supermarket is just in the corner, few bars around, and one excellent kebab shop (and tea room), highly recommended (Kebab King). No big language problem with the staff, one of them spoke perfect English, and there were very helpful. One minor issue was the fact that breakfast was not included, so you have to use the machine for coffee/tea/etc (1€), and order toast/croissant/etc separately.Overall, excellent stay in the hotel.

The hotel is in an excellent location, within 5 minutes walk of the Sierpes shopping/pedestrian street and a quick 10 minute walk down to the Cathedral/Alcazar location. Not being right near the tourist spots meant the location was nice and quiet, easy to get to via taxi, and had a number of good restaurants/bars close by. The Hotel occupies the 4th. floor of a tall building. The way up did not seem to be clearly defined, but take the lift up from the ground floor entance. The Hotel is more than adequatel, and is a 10 min. walk to the Alhambra bus and the bus to the main Coach Station (on the outskirts.)

The hotel was very clean and the room was excellent value. I was concerned, reading previous comments, that the staff would not understand me very well and would not be helpful. This could not be further from the truth. English was easily understood and the staff on reception who dealt with us spoke very good English. We were helped with directions, and finding places to eat which they recommended (and which were very good). I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to spend time in Granada. It is quite central. The only down side, is that the council collect the rubbish from outside the hotel in the middle of the night, and they are certainly not quiet. This has not the fault of the hotel and is probably a problem in other parts of the city.

Location near police station. Not noisy. Well located for walking everywhere. Slight language barrier. Parking 12 eu./day around the corner. 10 min. walk to bus for Alhambra ride up, walk back. Husband loved Cafe Futbol for breakfast! just down 1 block near Tourist office.

We asked the receptionist to book a reservation to visit the Alhambra at 10:00. We paid €2 for this service and when we got to Alhambra, the reservation was not valid. We had to wait until 15:00 to gain entry, hence making us have to change our plans.

Hotel was well positioned but was a little difficult to find (take a taxi!). The room was comfortable and spacious with little to complain about. Other hotel facilities were minimal but as expected for a * hotel. Free internet was a bonus. Overall highly rated for price.

Hotel situato in posizione centrale dall'ottimo rapporto prezzo/qualità. Parcheggio (a pagamento) a 50 metri.

The hotel is on the 4th floor of an appartment/office building - which is a surprise at first. Nevertheless, it is relatively new, clean and well appointed. Breakfast is available (coffee, croissants etc) at a very modest price and there is a balcony with fine views across the city to the south and southwest. We had a room on the corner of the building so street noise was a little intrusive but by no means unbearable. It is central, just 5 mins walk from the Plaza Neuva and 15 mins to the entrance of the Alhambra complex. The reception staff speak little english (nothing new there) and could come over as surley. Getting to the hotel - possible by car tho' the streets are a maze in this older part of Granada and I don't think that parking was that easy. If you arrive by rail, as we did, don't expect to be overwhelmed with signing of where to find buses or directions to the town centre. However, what you need to do is go straight ahead out of the station up to the Gran Via and catch the No23 bus (going into town)(1 euro fare) and there is a stop 30m from the hotel. Oh, the things you wish you knew beforehand! Granada itself - probably worth 2 days stay, one half day of which will be dedicated to the Alhambra - outstanding but don't forget to book your visit time slot on-line. Lots of good places to eat within 5 mins walk of the hotel - 'Siete Penques' on Plz Santa Suarez does a set meal for 8.60 euro. Avoid the tourist prices between Plaza Nueva and Plaza Santa Anna. Otherwise, enjoy!

Don't let the area outside the hotel deter you. The rooms are even more attractive than shown. The location is a bit iffy - I can't tell if the area is working-class or less; but there were certainly no security incidences with the police commissioner's office next door. Tourist Information is just a few blocks away. The staff is friendly and very helpful. I woke up late; and the early morning clerk was wonderful in checking me out of my room, getting a taxi for me and getting me to my train on time. Thank you kind sir! Walls are thin - but that's Europe! Yes, the addition of a chest of drawers in the spacious closet would be helpful. Free Internet and the lovely balcony were a bonus. I'd stay there again.
