Hotel Alixares - Granada

Directly at main entrance of Alhambra, ten minutes walk distance to old town - so it was ok. but only japanese bus groups! very noisy during breakfast. not very clean bath room

Very good Hotel Quality/price. Wonderful Free Buffet and breakfast with a good price. Near Alhambra (walking distance). Parking place not very cheap. In general a very good hotel, except the mattress a little sofht for my taste.

We really enjoyed our stay - the staff were very helpful and room very quiet

The hotel's proximity to the Alhambra mosque is amazing since it's within walking distance; but the hotel itself is just poorly done. The hallways are dark and smelly. Parking is right across the street requiring 20 Euros' per night. I would recommend you stay in another hotel and then take the bus here for to Alhambra for the tour.

The hotel is well situated, however, very difficult to find because of poor indication ( you have to enter at the exit of Alhambra parking)Signs should be indicated way before the parking. Breakfast was good with a good variety to choose from.

Nice price and very near by gate of palace,but far from central of old city.

Perfect stay, the hotel is situated really near the Alhambra. The price is excellent for the quality offered. Very friendly staff.

Superb location for visiting the Alhambra. Bus service into Granada excellent and very cheap. Cost of taxi from bus/train sation between 13 and 17 Euros dear enough. Very good breakfast and generally meals in restaurant of a good standard and reasonaby priced. Hotel generally good value for money

A good option for families wishing to visit the Alhambra and one of the rare hotels with a swimming pool in the area. Value for money but many of the hotel rooms, including ours, have no view at all. Hotel staff could not find our Venere booking when we arrived but fortunately they found a solution at the same rate.

Meet my standard First time in Granada

Bit too expensive for what it is (very small standard double room). Very convenient location though across the street from Alhambra, although I would recommend to stay in town and walk up the hill (easy 10 min walk from center of town).

Quite large hotel, with groups and families. Room was large, clean and quiet. Food was nothing extraordinary but ok, with buffet for dinner and breakfast. Hotel is just in front of the parking of the Alhambra. Close to the hotel there is a bus stop to get to the town centre and Albacyn, it is also possible to walk down the hill to the centre (nice walk in the trees, 15 minutes). Hotel staff is hepful.

I stayed in Granada to see above all Alhambra and this hotel is perfect because is really next to the monument (5 minutes by foot). It's a good hotel, clean, nice rooms and also the restaurant is good. If you have the car you have a discount for the parking and you'll pay only 13 euros for all day and night.

This hotel was located a stone's throw from the Alambra,as advertised.At 50 euros a night it was the best deal on our trip . It would be a good deal at higher rates. Their restaurant was mediocre but convenient.

The hotel is very nice, clean with a decent restaurant. 2 minutes away from the main attraction.

We had two horrible nights impossible to sleep because the noise of the bathrooms and WC.

Our stay was excellent, I brought my family for a two night stay to visit the AlHambra and enjoyed it all including a very nice evening at the terrace bbq. The only thing that spoilt it was there was a mix up over ordering a taxi for five of us to return to the Railway Station (I think they ordered two cars and someone else took one of the taxis). The taxi driver had been asked to take us to the bus station. The staff were apologetic but we nearly missed our train. Nearly, but not quite so it didnt spoil our visit thankfully.

I've found this accomodation very good: the rooms are quiet and comfortable, there is a nice swimming pool on the roof which my friends and I have appreciated very much in the hot weather of Granada. We had chosen this hotel because of its position near the Alhambra, but this has revealed to be a little fault, particularly in the evening, when we had to choose between a taxi and a long walk uphill to get back to the hotel from the city centre.

WiFi did not work in room even though we were on the second floor right abour the lobby were there WiFi did work. I have to go down to the lobby with my computer in order to pick up a signal to do work. I complained about this but nothing was done. Other than that evetything else was excellent.

We wanted to visit the Alhambra. You couldn't get a better location...right across the street. The staff at the hotel was very helpful. We had a wonderful time.

The map on the site is v.bad-nothing to do with reality. The hotel is quite near the Algambra, best way to get there is from Plaza Nueva - just climb the mountain:) There is no wifi in the rooms-we've tried everything. Too much noise from roommaids in the morning. Otherwise-v.good location to get tickets to Algambra!

Old hotel whose vocation is for tourist groups.. very excellent for them, not for individuals. heavy problems for parking

The hotel is in front of the Alhambra. Is there a better place ? I stayed 4 days in the hotel. During Passover. Hotel was completely full. Then it was not very quiet during 2 nights... In general it was a wonderfull moment. Hotel is comfortable. Employees are kind. The quality of service also. But I can't say that the hotel is charming. He is simply functional. Comfortable but functional.

This is a great hotel and its proximity to Alhambra is unbeatable. There are only 2 faults. Parking was promised on the hotel description but not available when we arrived. We had a disabled passenger. We were advised by the hotel to park in the Alhambra car park but choose to park at the side of the hotel due to the difficulties of our passenger. We got stickers each night on the car (despite the disabled sticker) TO SAY WE WOULD BE CLAMPED. The map location from venere do not print very clearly and we had to stop to ask directions.

Nice hotel with excellent location for the Alhambra, but inconvenient for city center and dining. An easy bus trip to town though. Nice rooms and excellent satff.

We were first time in Granada. Hotel's front said tome that I can access to internet in my room, but I could not access in my room. I could access to internet only at the ground floor. I tried many time to access to internet in my room. I lost 2-3 hours.

Right across from the Alhambra and popular with bus tours.

The setting was great, the rooms were spacious and nice however housekeeping failed to clean our drinking glasses (which had lipstick from the previous occupant) over the whole of the 4 nights that we stayed. The concierge was rude when asked for general information about available transport.

During our stay in Granada there were several big groups of tourists in the hotel and some of those people were quite noisy during the night. In general both my wife and I liked the hotel, even though we normally prefer not to get involved into the "mass tourism" like it happened in your hotel. We have also considered that also the visit to the Alhambra was partially spoiled by th presence of too many people who were exclusively focused in taking photos, without any interest on the cultural and artistic aspects of the Alhambra. This reality caused a negative impact on us and consequently our visit to Granada was not as exciting as we were expecting.

My first time at Alixares was great.Very kind employees,very nice rooms,a beautiful pool and a very good breakfast!Unfortunately I didn't enjoy the terrace with the barbecue,but I'm sure it would be great!The Alhambra is 2min on foot.Thanks for all!MR

Consiglio questo albergo a chi vuole visitare l'Alhambra, al pomeriggio è possibile riposarsi in piscina e la sera è disponibile un ristorante con barbecue al 4 piano veramente speciale, prezzi corretti, vista stupenda

Good position for visiting alhambra in Granada. You can reach Alhambra in 1 minutes walking. On the contrary the hotel is not very close to the center of Granada, but with bus or taxi you can reach it in 5-10 minutes

Seul bémol, l'hotel ne propose pas de chambre familiale. Nous avons malgré tout profité de l'offre B&B à 84 euros par chambre (petit déjeuner buffet inclus) ce qui est très raisonnable pour un hôtel de cette catégorie, en plein mois d'aout.

I would thoroughly recommend this hotel for anyone wishing to visit the Alhambra. It is just across the road. It was easy to find and parking is simple in the Alhambra car park (although you do have to pay 13euros a day). The hotel was very comfortable and the swimming pool was great at the end of a long morning's sightseeing. Only two complaints - one, no supervision at the pool; two, no policy of quiet after 11 pm (for example).

The hotel is located along Alhambra's Parking. It's easier to localize it than the road's name (My TomTom didn't know it !!) The localization is perfect with good bus lines to the center of Granada

Excellent rooms. Cafeteria very disappointing, but so is all the food in the immediate Alhambra vicinity. But incredibly convenient to the Alhambra.

Ideal situation within 2 mins walk of Alhambra Palace. Verynquiet after tour buses stop at 6.30. suggest eating elsewhere however as buffet style restaurant slightly reminiscent of school canteen. Public transport 2 mins walk into City Centre. Avoid hopper bus - expensive and too large to go into Albaycin and old city areas.

Good deal and good breakfast. Good position although a fair walk at night uphill through wooded area. The hotel is a coach party place and has not been built for quietness. Everything resounds along the corridors. Still we slept well from midnight to 7.00 with not much disruption.

The hotel is RIGHT BY Alhambra. If you want to go out in the city in addition to seeing Alhambra, find another hotel. It's SO FAR from downtown and taxi's seem to get aggrivated that they have to drive up there. When looking for the hotel via car, just follow the signs to Alhambra. Don't attempt to Google Map the place because we ended up on the other side of Granada based on the Google Map. And Granada seems to have failed to label their streets on the south side of the city.

Ottimo per visitare l'Alhambra, il cui ingresso dista 200 metri dall'hotel, e ben servito dai bus che portano in tutti i luoghi di Granada ma che fanno però servizio solo fino alle ore 23,00. L'hotel è tranquillo, le camere sono ben tenute e pulite. Non posso pronunciarmi sul mangiare perchè non ho utilizzato il ristorante.

The hotel has an excellent location, just in front of the Alhambra, but this info is not really indicated on the map, that was a good surprise anyway. We spent one night and enjoyed very much the hotel. The price/quality is excellent.

L'hôtel surplombe Cordoue. Avec un magnifique point de vue sur la ville, il est entouré de forêt. L'intérieur est aussi magnifique que son extérieur. La chambre, un peu petite et pas parfaitement insonorisée, reste très confortable et bien équipée avec du très beau marbre dans la petite salle de bain. L'accueil était très chaleureux et plein de bonne volonté (parle français pour certains). Le restaurant est aussi très bon (super point de vue sur la piscine et cordoue, délicieuses spécialités). Il est toutefois préférable d'avoir sa propre voiture pour rejoindre la ville.

Excellent hotel, clean renovated and stilysh. Breakfast excellent. Very close to the Alhambra castle. Had a really great time staaying there, highly recommneded. The price is excellent based on the quality.

BUSY HOTEL VERY CLOSE TO THE ALHAMBRA, ROOM CLEAN. POOR WELCOME, STAFF COULD NOT ADVISE ABOUT EVENING VISIT AVAILABILITY TO THE SITE EVERY VISITOR MUST HAVE COME FOR. ROOM WAS OVERLOOKED BY SWIMMING POOL.NOTE THE EXTRA CHARGE FOR PARKING.

I really enjoyed the hotel and could not believe the price - it represented excellent value for money. The only problem was the 850m walk from town up the hill to the hotel at the end of the evening (although taxis were plentiful)

Wonderful location to the Alhambra, but remember this means the hotel is at the top of the hill in relation to Granada - use the excellent bus service from outside the Alhambra to get into and back from the city. Hotel is very clean, and good value for money. We did not use the buffet (based on other comments), but did use the grill on the 4th floor - lovely views as the sun goes down, and relaxing to while away an evening, food also OK. Pool was great. There are places to eat near the hotel, but remember they follow the hours of the Alhambra, so tend to close early. Granada well worth a visit, and lovely people.

Second time to Los Alixares for a short break. Location is excellent,staff friendly and much to see and do for all ages. Very few English tourists - they are missing out! - But don't tell them! Will definately be returning later this year - I am sure that any time of year would be good. - The pool is very welcoming and although not the biggest was never overcrowded.

Great place to stay. Clean, comfortable rooms, Wonderful staff. Fantastic breakfast. Close to the metro, La Rambla and Old Town. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Lovely hotel great for the Alhambra and sight seeing. Main problem was the food. Absolutely awful, re-heated and kept under lights for ages. You knew that if you had green beens in the evening, you were sure gonna have them for breakfast! However, that was the only problem, cleanliness is very important to me and this hotel was certainly that. Cleaners everywhere - very impressive.Photos of hotel do not do it justice. Would deffinitely stay again.

Nice hotel, although I was a bit disappointed with the amenities offered for a reported four-star. Everything offered was at an additional cost (e.g. Internet, breakfast, etc.). The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The location was perfect to see the castle, and I wish I knew that it was yards from the entrance before I tried navigating.

We got a great price for this 4 star hotel from venere.com. Although I think because we didn't pay a lot we got the noisiest room in the hotel which was right above reception and we would hear large groups of people talking through out the night. But other than that, my husband and I had a good stay here. The location to the Alhambra couldn't be better.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights in Oct 05 and thought that the accommodation was very good value for money considering its proximity to the Alhambra and standard of the room. The only downside was the buffet which whilst edible was uninspiring. However, we would definately use this hotel again when we next visit the Alhambra.

Ideal place to stay if visiting Alhambra--good buffet b'fast but limited main courses at buffet dinner--excellent bus service to & from Granada city centre--carpark fee however is equivalent to having an extra €11 per night to overnight stay! Tour of Granada & Flamenco show well worth seeing also

Triple room slightly small if staying more than a couple of nights but location is fantastic (right by the Alhambra with views of the Generalife) and overall quality of hotel is excellent.

Hotel not providing non smoking areas, and has a bar (with smoking guests) connected to the reception. Hotel did not have any internet or e-mail service. Hotels grill restaurant on roof was exellent.

Excellent location right outside the Alhambra car park. Convenient to local buses. Staff friendly and helpful. Liked the buffet breakfast and dinners at reasonable prices.

The prices on Venere.com were much better than booking at the hotel itself, so definitely go that route. The hotel is right by Alhambra (the maps do not show this very well) and just up the street from the Hotel Guadalupe, which costs more and isn't actually as nice. The hotel is walking distance (down the big hill--be ready for a leisurely climb on the way back) from the city center and other sites. The hotel is excellent and the online deal here is great. The web site indicates the parking is included, but it is not. You will pay about 11 Euros per day in either the garage or Alhambra parking, but the parking is nearby.

The hotel itself is fine, but is used by large tour parties, hence the catering is institutional to say the least. We didn't want to risk our lives on the fixed price buffet, which looked like it had been incubating salmonella bugs for hours, so had the a la carte which was equally disgusting. This restaurant also shut early, no-one but us eating in there after 21:30. The locals clearly decline to use it or it would still be busy at 23:30. The next night we had a delicious meal in the parador down the road.
