We stayed twice on two different days over a long weekend. The ladies on reception were probably the most cheerful we have encountered over a 10 week trip through Europe. Hotel is really Top quality and adjacent to the marina harbor (3 mtrs!) but additional cost by taxi if you need to get to Genoa old town (40 E's each way. Also, the cost to the airport each way was E20/30 which is extortionate as it is all of 3 Kms. So, recommend ideal for airport but not so for old town. Would certainly stay again!

We had a couple of mix ups with the staff BUT they were wonderfully helpful and tried very hard to make it better. The only complaint we had was that the room was not very cool and the helpful staff 'tried' to do something about it but apparently the 'system' doesn't allow. We travel in Italy ALL the time and have never had this problem. They were all very nice and corrected the misunderstandings which was much appreciated. Not having a shuttle service is a big negative since that adds 30 E to the cost of the room for taxis if you're dropping off your rental car and expect to be picked up. This policy apparently changed since we had booked so in the end they did take care of this and picked us up after the rental car pick up AND took us in the morning. I would definitely recommend Marina Place if they fix their air conditioning. The unit on the roof in the front of the building should be checked since it was sputtering on and off/on and off quickly for over 20 minutes while we waited for the taxi.

The rooms here are super-nice and brand new. The shower is amazing, the fixtures are all modern, the bed is comfy. One nice detail is having two facing closets where you could easily put your bags and open them at arms level. A few nit picks: 1) the room doors are NOT sound proof... You could hear every person with hard-soled shoes clip clop up and down the hallway all night long. 2) the hotel is called a "spa" - but they offer NO spa services. They only "spa-esque" thing they offer is a work-out room and nice soaps in the bathrooms. Lame. 3) with over 300 channels on the TV, there was ONE in English. Boo. Two major complaints to do with this place: 1) The location/directions are NOT accurate that I received via email. The "by train" directions stated that they were "adjacent to" the train station. We figured we'd just take the train and walk to the hotel. It was a 30 minute walk from the train station to the hotel, and that doesn't count another 45 minutes we spent getting lost. We knew they offered a shuttle service we could have taken advantage of, but we didn't have a mobile phone, and we'd been walking everywhere else in Italy - why not to this hotel? 2) We asked to book the shuttle to the airport the next morning for our 7am flight. They suggested 6am was early enough, and I agreed. Later, around 9pm, my wife and I decided we wanted to schedule the shuttle earlier. The response was "No. We already scheduled it for 6 o'clock. Why would you change it? " So I responded - "we'd like to be at the airport earlier in case we have unexpected problems." Again they responded rudely, "No. 6 o'clock is early enough." In America this is unacceptable customer service, especially in the hotel industry. So, if you want airport convenience, this isn't the best. If you want really nice rooms and don't mind being confined to one square mile without wandering into the industrial ghetto of Genoa, this is a hotel for you.
