Charming, expert staff with an old-time service ethic. The breakfast lady, in particular, was really nice. When looking for the hotel, ask for the ascensore pubblico (public lift), as the hotel is set back from the street, and numbering in Genoa is a bit haphazard.

Staff very helpfull and nice. Free internet, very good breakfast; maps at disposal, good information about museuns and other place to visit. The lift was not so good, presented problems; it´s an old building.

I selected this hotel based on location very near to train station, price, and reviews. I was not disappointed. I arrived by taxi from the cruise terminal to a small piazza full of flower sellers; the hotel can be seen by looking up-way up! Intimidated by two flights of steps, I was relieved when the taxi driver pointed to a yellow-framed doorway which gave access to an elevator to the reception desk-this doorway is at the extreme left of the back of the little piazza and is easy to miss. An additional elevator takes you to 5 stories of rooms which are clean, comfortable, and typically Italian with terrazzo flooring, window shutters without screens, and a small bathroom with all the necessary items. Rooms are attractive but not plush. The Venere-quoted price included continental breakfast with a nice selection of breads and rolls, juices, and hot drinks, served in a room with views out over the surrounding area. Free wifi is available and the desk clerks speak enough English to give directions and answer questions. Neighborhoods around train stations can be a bit dicey but my impression of the Genovese area was better than most. A good selection of moderate priced restaurants is also nearby. Genoa is a city of steep hills and this hotel was a pleasure to return to each evening. I would recommend the Vittoria for any type of traveler and I would stay there again In a minute.

On the other side of the street is the Railway station, next to it there is a post office and just when you go downstairs the hotel there is a pharmacy.

First, the good news. The family running the hotel speaks excellent English, is friendly, and is most helpful. We were provided with maps and guidebooks upon arrival which were very useful. WiFi is provided. Now, the not so good news. It's a noisy hotel. We were in a corner room with bathrooms on each side of us. When neighbors flushed a toilet, it sounded like jet engines taking off. When guests were in the hallways, we heard every word. You could also hear loud conversations in adjoining rooms. Breakfast was the most basic of all those we've had in Europe. The neighbood closes at night. It was difficult to find a nice restaurant -- mostly "bars" or places to snack. We walked a fair distance to a restaurant and it's amazing how quite Via Balbi is at night considering the activity during the day. We didn't have any problems walking at night, but we wouldn't have wanted to be alone.

Great place in Genoa if you are moving by train. Hotel is really close to station, and without steps or hills to climb. Breakfast was OK. Nic eplace to base out of if you want to do day trips to the coastal towns in either direction.

Clean, well kept and maintained, albeit the furnishing is definitely beyond its life cycle. Overpriced as any hotel in Genova. OK for an overnight stay, as very close to train station.

Stayed in a family room which was huge. A convenient location, very close to the train station and within walking distance to the main town. Breakfast was included but choice was limited.

Very good value for money hotel in a great location, very near to Principe station but nevertheless very quiet. Really helpful and charming staff and clean and spacious rooms too. Not difficult to find despite what another review said, though signs do call it simply 'Vittoria' hotel.

Hotel is not in a very nice area. It is very old. Terrible atmosphere and very noisy. My teenage daughter was frightened. The lift is tiny & claustrophobic.

Perfect hotel for an overnight or short break, convenient for the station but close to the centre. The reception staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful.

The hotel was located very close to the main train station (Genova Principe) and not far from major sites. The staff was friendly and the breakfast good. Our only major complaint was that our room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. However, we knew other guests staying at the same hotel at the same time and their rooms did not have the same smell. If you are a non-smoker, we would recommend asking about a non-smoking room.

Typical city property. Location was excellent for main train station and to downtown Genoa. Difficult to locate -- had to ask locals for directions -- need signage at street level.

This hotel is very close to the Principe train station in Genoa. The staff is very helpful and pleasant. The room was very large and was very clean. One night a group of 12 year olds made a lot of noise at 11:30 pm. I went down to the desk and the manager came up to fix the problem. The breakfast was very good.

Hotel is very convenient to the train station. Staff was very helpful. I had to be up very early to catch a bus, and they opened the breakfast room early to ensure that I got breakfast before leaving.

Very close to railway station (good for getting out of Genoa!). About 10 min walk from the old city and 5 mins to the old port (Aquarium etc). Good english spoken. Clean and comfortable. Quiet, in spite of being close to Via Balbi. Good breakfast buffet. Lots of Italians amongst the guests as well as visitors. Recommend Camogli and Nervi for day trips and La Banchina in the old port for family-friendly grub.

Hotel Vittoria was good for the price, rooms were clean, if a bit worn and old fashioned, walls seemed to be a bit thin. Location was excellent, very short walk from the train station and an easy walk to sights of interest such as the marina/port area. The hotel is not immediately apparent from the main street, you have to use a lift from the street to get to reception.

On your website, the hotel seems to be in the middle of nowhere. Unfortunately, whenyou are looking for it, you can find it, hidden by another hotel.

Non so se era il direttore o meno ma il signore con l'accento veneto che accoglie i clienti è di una gentilezza e cortesia ormai rare e preziose. Unico neo dell'albergo....solo quotidiani di destra....è meglio essere imparziali...
