About Hotel Villa Bonera

hotel front view Hotel Villa Bonera hotel front view The Bonera Hotel is located in Nervi, at the East Ligurian coast (Riviera di Levante), a few miles from the Genoa city center. It is established in the prestigious "Villa Bonera", built in 1500, restored in 1700 and, since 1850, site for a hotel. Still today, history and tradition of such building are testified by the distinction of the ample rooms, by the stylish interior decorations as well as by the ceilings, endowed in several rooms with beautiful frescos. Surrounded by a private park, the Hotel is settled just in Nervi’s center — a few yards from the seaside and from the suggestive walk, right behind the little port and the Serra Groppallo Park It offers thus the opportunity to easily reach the Genoa Aquarium, Portofino and the district of "Cinque Terre", even via sea, thanks to a ferryboat service.

Very characteristic historic building, need some refurbishment, though. Staff could definitly show more service oriented interest and friendliness towards non-italian speaking customers, like ourselves. Nicely located close to the littoral.

The hotel is very close to a beautiful walk along the water edge. Also, it is kind of cool to stay in an old mansion; however, the fan is worthless and it gets a little warm in the room. When the window is open, you can definitely hear the loud music of a local bar/dance club until 1-2am.

very noisy, very unwelcoming reception/owner. The owner was sleeping in the lobby most of the time, and when asked questions he would pretend he does not understand english. The room was mouldy and smelly. The breakfast was very basic and they would ignore you if you asked for a 2nd coffee. The bathrooms had old hair all over the walls and they were not cleaned properly for the whole week. The price was too high for the actual service and facilities offered. Location was good.

The Villa Bonera is a place to see. A surprising holtel, and a good compromise. Nervi is a riviera in the city of Genova. We stayel there 5 nights with our baby (1 year old), and i wouldn't recommend this place (Hotel & Surroundings) for families with young kids.

Hotel Bonera is a very old house, somewhat a little "decadent". This may not please people who likes brand new hotel with a modern feeling. For us it was perfect as we loved the old feeling of the hotel. The surroundings are perfect, very close from Nervi Porticciolo (small ports). If you're looking for a quiet and beautiful area in between Genova center and the ligurian coast, this is perfect. I will definitely come back and recommend it to my friends who like the "real" stuff.

First, and only, stay at this hotel. Best description can only be 'faded grandeur'I actually had quite a lot of difficulty persuading my wife to stay there! The photographs on the website are, to say the least, extremely flattering and do little to show the 'tiredness' of the building and grounds. The manager/owner spoke very little English and can only be described as less than welcoming. We thought that he had told us that dinner was from 7.30p.m. to discover when we turned up at 7.50p.m. that we were too late-- fortunately there is a very pleasant little bar further into the town.Breakfasts were fine; the rooms a decent size, if a bit dilapidated.Villa Bonera is best used as a place to sleep.

This was a stop over for us and was an interesting place to stay! The villa would have been beautiful in its day but was shabby and needed a lot of improvement. However, it was clean and cheap, in a lovely area near the promanade which meant you could stroll into the town easily. The hotel should have given directions for guests to get to the port. We enede up on a busy road - lost, and only found the private road by chance. Overall this place was fine for a one night stop over.

We were attracted to Vila Bonera by the unforgettable romantic athmosphere (a XVI century bulding), sea view, local Italian flavour, family-like service A cheap albeit important improvement would be a local Internet connection which is now missing!

This place is really recommendable when you're visiting this region. A villa is of course a unique place to stay and the rooms are very decent. Also the breakfast is allright. We had booked a room with shared bathroom, but for a small amount extra could upgrade and we had our own bathroom, which was much better.

If you have a car and want to visit genoa and its surroundings, this is a good place to stay. The hotel is difficult to find but as it has its own car park it does mean you have the freedom to take the car out or leave it as you wish. We had 1 double room and one single room. The double room was excellent but there was not much sound proofing between the rooms and the rest of the building so you could hear people going up and down the stairs all the time (however my boyfriend slept through it fine.) The single was tiny but came with its own terrace which easily doubled the space and was great for drinks in the evening! The breakfast buffet was excellent and the staff were very friendly. The only draw back with location is that the last train back from Genoa left at 12.04am which meant that you couldnt stay out late or you paid a whopping cab fare. All in all though, we really enjoyed our stay.

Our room was very spacious. The whole hotel needs to be restored. The walls and ceiling were peeling and dirty. The bathroom´s walls were about to fall!!! Staff was helpful and nice. Breakfast was really good, comparing to the other hotels we stayed. Easy to get there, and a big parking free of charges!!! The additional third bed sucked (those spring and unconfortable beds). Next day: pain on the back...

This hotel does not look so nice as it is on the picture, its very old and not well painted. There is a railway very close so you can here the trains. The beds are terrible, they are very old and a pain for your back. There is no airco and in the summer it's too hot. Maybe this was a nice hotel about 20 years ago, buth now it's too expensive for what you get!

The Hotel has a lot of potential. It needs some TLC and paint. I don't know when the pictures on the website were taken? The Staff are friendly and location is OK. It was OK for 1 night. Invest some Money and install Air Conditioning. We selected this Hotel as it was on our way from Rome to Nice and they had rooms for 4 adults at an ok price The rooms were clean and comfortable and as we did not have air conditioning in a hot evening during Mid Summer , we had to have the windows open just after Italy won a world cup match so youo can imagine the noise..

Me and my daughter really enjoyed our 4 nights stay in Villa Bonera. Mostly we liked the relaxed and pittoresc athmosphere and the friendly stuff. The villa itself is a littlebit worn, but because of that we just loved it. We found Villa Bonera very confortable, clean, spacy and beautiful hotell. Especially the paintings at the ceiling and the beautifull scenery ( to the sea) were great.

This hotel is actually an old mansion located about 20 minutes by train from downtown Genoa, in a resort town called Nervi. It is directly on the coastline and about a 10 minute walk from the train station. It is set up as a house where the rooms have been seperated. Dinner and breakfast services are available and are very good. The staff is personable and we would recommend it-- for the frescoed rooms and beautiful surroundings. Nervi is great but keep in mind it is not Genoa and we would actually say it is better to only take a day trip in since it is so close.

We were looking for a non expensive hotel in Genova, near the city center, the sea and the port as we were taking the ferry to Corsica. This one was the type of hotel we were looking for, of course, it is very old and not very clean (speaking about the common shower) but it was what we were looking for. We knew from the net that it was old - this is true - but full of charm! We did not regrett our choice! For a night this hotel was efficient.

It is a quite nice hotel within a very nice part of genova (nice stone beach, palm-parks, sea, restaurants,...). The room and the bathroom were not very nice but clean and ok for the price. The people in the hotel speak in general Italian, but a few also English and French. Overall, the hotel is ok to stay for a weekend or one week with an excellent quality/price relation and a good location for trips to genova and surroundings. My tips for you: -Never take a hotel at the inner city of genova, always one on the edge on the city (like this hotel) because the inner city is not nice and very noisy. -Take a hotel with its own car-parking place. (This hotel has one.) -Visit at genova the see aquarium, it is a must! -Inform you in advance very good about how to drive to your hotel, because it is mostly very difficult to find a hotel (also this one). -Driving is in general very difficult in genova and on the highways surround it, even for experienced drivers. (Small streets in the city and in general a lot of pushing and chaos on the streets)

A very run-down "villa" if you could call it that. The only good thing was breakfast. We had a very noisy room, allthough we could see the ocean somewhat, it was very close to train tracks with trains passing every 20 to 30 minutes all night long. The bed was horrible and very hard to sleep on, not that we slept much because of the train noise anyway. We arrived late in the evening and had to shout, bang on doors and run around the building to get someone to let us in even though they said they had no curfew and someone at the front desk. Would never stay here again and would not recogmend it to any one.

We liked the property and the fact it was set back from the street. Nice and quiet. The rooms could have been dusted more (for sure) the beds were springy and the help at the desk was so-so. We asked a passing waitress for a cheap but good restaurant and she suggested a place. Our first night in Italy, we were all exhausted so when the owner told us the menu we sleepily agreed. Good food but for four of us it came to $174 Euros! The most expensive meal of our trip and we didn't order that much. OTher than that, breakfast was yummy and the staff was friendly.

Hotel is charming, but interior is really old, to the point of offseting the charm. (I would not rate myself as a hygenics or newness freak). Breakfast and breakfast room good, garden nice. Service was fine. Nervi is good starting point for trips into surroundings and Genova. Overall fair value. Agreed, investment and renovation would raise the price. Still, would not come again, but look for a more modern location.

Villa Bonera is a bit run-down with frescoes that slowly peeling off and pretty old furniture. The beds were very soft and the water could have had more pressure. When getting a room try to avoid rooms which face south since it is very near a railway track and therefore quite loud. On the plus side, the service was very good and thanks to the tips of the employees we enjoyed our stay in Nervi.

Villa Bonera was in a very good location, very near the seaside. Not much to do in Nervi, but it was a good place for us to spend the night on our drive exploring the Ligurian coast. The rooms were very interesting, the ceilings tall and painted. The rooms were clean but you could tell that the hotel was quite old. The breakfast was very good. There was a seaside walkway that stretched for a couple of miles. There were restaurants and cafes along the walk, very nice. Parking was plenty and free.

The hotel was as it was presented on the web site. The hotel is located in a small, quiet town just east of the city of Genova easily accessible by bus/train. The staff were friendly and helpful. Even though the English was minimal we managed with French and a bit of Spanish. The hotel's old world charm is worthy of some fresh paint on the exterior BUT once inside you forget all about it. It was what we'd hoped for and more. Large rooms, great public areas, and a very nice breakfast. We would book at this hotel again and will recommend it to friends.

With regards to the noise (and its poor marking). The room overlooks a railyway tarck. Train Services run all night long which caused us a uncontinuous sleep. God willing,we will go back again, one day as we liked Genoa alot. We would encourage Bonera Mangament to 'sell' their Guests hotel better by displaying what it for lunch, dinner, activities etc. Over all, staff where polite but seems 'Service' ends once the breakfast was given, is it becasue of culture, lack of speaking a foreign langauge? I do not know. These are MERELY observations, no more and no less. We wish the Hotel nothing but the BEST.

Lovely large airy dual aspect room, with a long thin bathroom. Excellent location, although the shortness of the road, means that the bus drivers didn't recognise the address. This property has two things to say for it easy parking and low price. But we found the place a bit frayed around the edges. Common areas were storage spots for broken pianos and cribs. The elevator broke down while we were using it. The room was spacious, but the bathroom was tiny and very cramped. We could not take a shower without getting water on the floor. There was mildew in the shower. The bed was lumpy and the pillows were hard and flat. Our biggest problem was that breakfast at 8am was too late for us - we were attending a conference which required us to leave before we could have breakfast. Unfortunately, there was no way to get an early breakfast.

Wonderful hotel, it made me giggle because I would compare it to an Italian "Faulty Towers" (in a good, affectionate way)! We had a lovely, spacious room with a small (sitting) bathtub, and a wonderful view of the ocean & the hotel gardens. It is next to the seaside walkway. There is an elevator. The desk clerk (owner?) was a bit gruff at our arrival, but he warmed up! Only one woman (other owner?) spoke a tiny bit of English, so brush up on your Italian. The restaurant for dinner was not the best, but it was good, and the breakfast buffet was generous. A 10 minute walk to the train station, and a 20 minute train or bus ride into Genoa. Parking was ample, and luckily there is a large sign from the main road directing you to the alley/driveway into the grounds. Out of the 9 hotels we visited on this trip, it was a very nice stay & we would return if in this area again.

Elderly villa hotel with rather dated decor. Ensuite bathroom is a rather odd white plastic box in the corner of a big, high ceiling room. Rest of room is decorated in rather odd 70's style. Seemed to be aimed at long stay guests rather than holiday visitors. Dinner had to be ordered in advance and was from a choice of two pasta dishes - not the wide range of meals suggested on the website. Location is pleasant but I would describe it as in gardens rather than in a park. Glad we only booked for one night.
