The rooms and the location are wonderful. The employees are generally nice but not enough professional. The breakfast is officially served until 11.00 but, if you come at 9.30, you have to fight for a croissant and to ask for everything at the waiter.

All very good except: Maybe we are too old for a design hotel, but we would prefer to have a bath separated from the bedroom and proper chairs and tables in the breakfast room.

Centrally located. We had a tough time finding the hotel and the parking - was a tad complicated. The experience was very much tainted by some questionable people hanging around behind behind the hotel, which forced us to close and lock the windows on a relatively hot night. Not really the hotel's fault, but not comforting.

This is the place to stay in Genoa, hands down - perfectly located in the heart of this gem of a city. The staff could not have been more helpful and sweeter. Breakfast was a delight - freshly squeezed orange juise - blood orange juice! and croissants the French would be jealous of. It's a superb hotel. Andre Poulin

The room we were given at this wonderful hotel was really a spacious 2 bedroom apartment, with a full kitchen and unlimited internet connection, not to mention a fantastic view of the Duomo and the square. The property is very centrally located, with many excellent restaurants nearby. Staff were all excellent and a nice, fairly simple breakfast was served.

The palace turned hotel was right off the cathedral square, in walking distance of the old town and the port. I felt like a guest of a rich Genoan in the 16th century. Great place to stay.

This hotel which was rated as four stars was the single worst hotel I have ever stayed in. First of all IT IS NOT A FOUR STAR HOTEL!!! I would rate it about One star. It was so overpriced because there was a boat show going on during the time of our stay! It was awful. I would never recommend it to anyone.

We (3 adults) stayed in Genoa for one week. We chose to stay in the apartment, rather than a hotel room. It was a great choice. The apartment was very clean and very spacious. The rooms were beautifully painted and looked onto two narrow streets close to the main hotel. The fittings were of excellent quality. There is internet access in the apartment. The breakfast room in the hotel overlooks the cathedral. Breakfast choices suited us really well. Hot food (like eggs and bacon) is not supplied, but you can cook in the apartment as the kitchen has the necessary equipment and there is a supermarket nearby. the staff were very friendly, and low key, as everyone seems to be in Genoa. The UNESCO world heritage listed area of old palaces is magnificent, the restaurants and cafes are inexpensive and good quality and we would go to Geonoa again. The front of the hotel is small and easy to miss - but the taxi delivered us straight to the door. We were there in November, so appreciated the good heating at night

This hotel was a former palace, and the rooms are large. However they are furnished by Ikea..Real modern stuff that diminishes the beauty of the room. There is no lobby and one guy is the porter, waiter, bus boy etc.The reception staff were great however, and took care of us very well.

Very interesting hotel, large spacious rooms, however, no air conditioning (had to ask for a fan). No refrigerator ("it was broken and could not be replaced"). The saving grace was a very helpful evening staff person for bookings etc. An unnusual group of "kids" doing everything, cleaning, answering phones, etc. Extremely noisy room facing the Cathedral. The place has great potential due to its size, proximity to historic sites, but needs to address staffing, facilities, and noise problems.

I stayed in the a family appartments which is located in the same buidling as the hotel but in adjacent wing. This hotel is located in an old palace in the historic downtown of Geneva. The hotel is just next to the pedestrian area and to Plaza San Lorenzo, where the San Lorenzo cathedal is located - in fact from my window I was able to see the cathedral facade and the plaze, which was amazinng. The apartment was obviously recently remodeled in a very modern and luxurious fashion. Is spacious with two rooms (one small with two beds), and tow bathroosm with shower (one of them small but functional). Besides there is a sofabed and a kitchen. It seem like gthis appartment was owned by someone, because it has a library with a collection of old books and some art across the walls. However, since the apartments is in the other wind, there is no elevataros and lugage must be carried through the stairs (there floors) to the appartment. Breakfast is provided in the main reception area of the hotel and the food is good. The appartment was supposed to have a computer connected to the Internet, but I was told it recently broke down and was in repairs. So to access the internet I had to use my own laptop and a wireless newtork available only on the reception area of the Hotel. Another inconvenience is that there is no parking (the hotel is in a pedestrian area and the nearby streets are really narrow), but a public parking (City Park) is available not too far (about 5 mins walking through a mostly pedestrian area), and is relatively expensive to parke the car there (1 Europ/hr duirng night; 1.80.hr day). However, the access to the hotel/downtown area by car is good through the elevated freeway and a convenient exit just next to the City Park. So it is easy to get in and out of the city by car.

This is marvellous place to stay. It is essentially a boutique hotel in a renovated Genoese palazzo, where baroque meets uber-stylish contemporary design. It make for a real treat of a place to stay. Our room, which was a superior room, was beautifully appointed and quite huge, including various sofas and armchairs. At the desk, there was a PC with complementary internet access, and there was also free wireless access if you had your own laptop. The hotel is up several floors, in a building that seems to be mostly offices - like architects and designers. Forget office block, and think baroque palace with an imposing lobby and grand staircase. There is a lift to the reception and the rooms. There is a funky breakfast room within the hotel, and a simple but very tasty continental breakfast is served there in the morning. The hotel also seems to have a restaurant in an adjoiing building, for dinner, but there are also dozens of other restaurants in the little streets roundabout. The staff seemed particularly keen that we enjoyed our stay at Locanda di Palazzo Cicala and our visit to Genoa - providing maps and many useful tips on what not to miss, all in faultless English. The location is great as it is in the heart of the pedestrianised historic city centre (though probably a challenge if you wish to drive to the door in your car). It is about half way between the two main railway stations, though you can get the Metro two stops from Principe to San Giorgio, which is 2 minutes walk away. Little did we realise at the time, but the interesting church across the square from the breakfast room is actually the Duomo, and definintely one of the things to see in the city. Just round the corner, on Sunday morning, we stumbled into a huge organic farmers market full of tempting Genoese delicacies. It is both a city and a hotel we mean to come back to and stay a bit longer next time.

The hotel is really nice but is not indicated that while rooms are inside the hotel on San Lorenzo Square, flats are in a building located in a small alley near San Lorenzo Square in the old town. The flat is very nice and wide but without courtains at the windows of the living room (and the distance of the windows of near buildings is 2-3 mt) So if you don't need really wide spaces, the best choiche is a room rather than a flat.

This hotel was the only triple room that we could find in Genova since we have waited till the last moment to book our hotel. Instead of booking the triple room "in" the hotel, we have preferred the apartment as advertised in their website. It was a really charming little flat with a kitchen and sitting area in a lovely old building 2 minutes from the hotel. It was really perfect especially if you need a bit of privacy and feel like a local. Dont think and just book it, you wont regret it.

This is an old palazzo with large, airy rooms, most with great views. The location is superb, right in the heart of the old city, five minute walk from the port area, five minutes from the museums, etc. A great hotel in a great location in a superb city.

What a magnificent hotel! We were extremely happy with our two-night stay, and we will certainly consider staying here again. Our room was spacious and well-appointed, with a computer and complimentary Internet access provided. The staff was wonderfully friendly and helpful. Their recommendations for dinner both nights were great. Both restaurants are affiliated withthe hotel and are excellent -- Squarciafico, which is next door to the hotel, and Dispora, which is up the street in the Pallazzo Ducale. Great food, great setting, great service. The hotel is int he historic district -- a wonderfully central location -- but only accessible on foot or by cab. We drove into the city and our onyl regret was that the hotel's site did not provide more specific directions with regard to parking. We ended up parking in a city lot and taking a cab, then going back to move the car to City Park. City Park is very convenient to the hotel -- infact, we had drien right through it on our way in -- but we didn't know this until it was too late. This was a minor inconvenience, however. Locanda di Palazzo Cicala was a great find and made our stay in Genova one of the most memorable of our trip.

Splendid place, central, quiet. Only issue was the fact that if you wanted to use the elevator, you had to ring upstairs and someone had to come down. That might not suit elderly guests. Genoa being Genoa, big hotel reception rooms were not necessary, but I always feel it is nice to have a bar. Breakfast was prompt, good, European food. They did have a recommended restaurant down the road about one building, but it is not the same. Bathroom a bit cramped. A HUGE plus is the internet - free - in each bedroom. Very nice people. Could do with being bigger or taking over a couple of adjacent properties. Will stay there again next visit. Faith Rose.

Only there for one night (in transit to Florence) next time will stay longer - Genoa looks like quite an interesting, gritty kind of place. Good location, although you wouldn't know the hotel was there unless you were looking for it - our cab driver struggled to find it. Very modern, very clean. Would stay there again.

We are verry satisfied about our stay. Its a nice Hotel in a ideal point of Genova. We stay good at Genovar an at this Hotel for 3 days. One day was a very rainy day but the ample, the arrangement (additional sofa and cushion-chairs) and the brightness of our room (8) enabled a pleasent stay despite the bad weather.) If we turn back to Genova, we will surely try to get a room in this hotel again. We also have the intention to give a recommandation to our friends, if they will visit Genova and we could recommand this place to everyone. Indeed, thera are two things, which could be improved in our opinion: ° First of all: the breakfest - offer (f.ex.: panini (bread roll) or bread and not ohly brioches; spread). ° Other curtains

We believe that the website should explain that one cannot drive up to the hotel to drop off luggage and then park. We indicated that we would require parking. If we had been told that private hotel parking was not available, we would have been inclined to stay in a hotel with parking, such as Moderno Verdi, and walk to the historic centre. We had to park at City Park and walk with our luggage to the hotel, we had to pay Euros 25 p/day, total Euros 50. Fortunately, the hotel does provide a slip which one presents at City Park and one receives a slight deduction for night rates. Other than that additional charge to the overall room rate (as far as our budget goes) we feel the owners have restored the Palazzo with excellent taste. We particularly appreciated the free use of the pc and internet in the room.

The room literally took my breath away on arrival - beautiful high ceilings and extremely spacious. It was very unusual and I would highly reccomend it. There were only 2 things that I would have liked improved: More variety at breakfast and please dust under the bed - I sneezed a lot!!!

Overall the room was spacious. The location excellent and we would certainly stay at your hotel again. We would have liked a bathtub, as we generally find it relaxibg after a long day of sight seeing. The bathroom could have had bathrobes and slippers supplied, as the wooden floor were a little cold. There was no minibar in our room or email facilities as advertised.

We may not be the right persons to give you our comment. The room we stayed one night belongs to the neibour family in which building, stairs and walles were under paint&repair. The room was full of someone's belongings, such as clothes and books, with no telephone, no television, the room had nothing we thought it should have except towels and soups. Is it safe to stay overnight in that room? We offered to change but was told there was no other rooms available. They spoke little English and said 'We offer you bed & breakfast, is there any problems?' To be sure the hotel has B&B in the head of the name but at least it was a four-star hotel. In Japan or any other countries, at a four-star hotel there should be English-spoken staffs and when overbooking, they should try to find the other hotel rooms at the similar price. On such a case, is there any way to cancel this hotel without penalties and request to find the other hotels? We should have payed 150 euro (discounted, they said) to the neibour family. That was completely different room we saw and decided to book on your site.
