Not to recommend in cold season when only few guests. Poor breakfast italian style, sweet stuff no bread, no cheese. Room cold and noisy because of badly insulated windows, only electric heater. For young folks this may be ok. Situated best for Central station! Elderly couple, Switzerland.

The location was very good. Staff which hardly existed was distant and not interested except perhaps the check in person which seemed to be a student. Price higher then any hotels i have stayed at in the area and i have stayed at quite a few. The breakfast area was thrown together like maybe they were only a hotel for the day. I was very disappointed.

We are a retired couple. We wanted to get to know Genova on the way to a holiday in France. The two nights we spent in the Galata Hotel were very comfortable, value for money, very friendly and the breakfast was absolutely ok. Coffee was not so good! Restaurants about 100 metres away from the hotel were excellent and very reasonable. To be recommended. Parking in a covered, secure garage was extremely expensive but probably worth it.

The parking place was too far away and it was hard to find, because it wasn´t owned by the hotel. To my mind it was also too expensive. In general the hotel was excellent.

I have stayed at this hotel twice but will not return. The staff and management are wonderful and do the best they can with that particular location. They gave very good restaurant referrals, booked reservations for me, and had helpful sightseeing tips and suggestions. It is near the train station which is a bonus for a quick stay. However, it is also near a bar frequented by students until the wee hours of the morning. Even with the windows closed, it is noisy. This last time, someone yowled (he was trying to sing) until 2:30 am. I was on the 3rd floor and was able to hear every bad note. Also the rooms in which I stayed were tired and dirty. With an open shower, the water floods the bathroom and I had to show the cleaner all the mold growing in the corners. He did clean the areas I showed him but there were other areas that he didn't see. The breakfast room is on the top floor. They serve a variety of packaged breads, some fresh pastries, yogurt, wrapped cheese, jams, cereals, milk, juice and coffee. They also had a huge table of gluten free items. This was the first hotel were this accommodation was so open. They did have a computer with internet for free guest use. The hotel is usually booked with business travelers. Both times that I have been there, it was full. I think that for the same money, I can do better.

A comforable hotel and central. Noisy, there is a bar outside the windows but the noise stops at midnight sharp.

This is a clean and comfortable hotel that is across the street from the main railway station, convenient for us as we traveled from city to city by train. The hotel is about a ten to fifteen minute walk to the city center and old town, and a five minute walk to the seaport area. The area immediately surrounding the hotel is not elegant, and we were cautious when walking from the seaport to the hotel at night. Public transportation is excellent -- bus service to city center a few blocks away. Overall the staff was very helpful and welcoming and we would not hesitate to stay here again.

This was our second stay in Genova. This hotel is near the station and whilst the rooms are very clean they look out onto an alley with restaurants so it was a bit noisy on the saturday night for which the owner appologised as he said teh students were vreaking up for summer. That was our only complaint and we would stay again as it is so handy for Stazione Principe, buses and the town. The owner was also very helpful with information and spoke english well. He even spoke only Italian to me so i could practice. Don't be put off by the area or the exterior it is very well decorated inside!

Hotel Galata is amazing. I've never been to such an easy hotel. When you arrive, you go straight to the reception, get the key from the friendly receptionist and after 5 minutes you can go to your room. When you check out, you have to significate something and pay and after only 5 minutes you're "free". The hotel is really well-organised and the breakfest's wonderful. The hotel is also near to the station, about 200m and it's not difficult to find. Great place, compliments!!!

There's no parking for the car. It's a noisy city. I think this hotel is for gay couples. But we've been well welcome.

This hotel was in a great position being less than a minutes walk from the main train station, the Principe, (I think that was how you spelt it). Very clean and rooms were spaciou, good air conditioning and sound proofing of the windows. A bit of a walk to the port and town centre, but fine for a evening. All in all a very good 3 star hotel.

We stayed there for one night only which was ok. Please make sure that you do not get a room which leads to the back street and where are some bars; we were not able to sleep due to ongoing party. The price however is reasonable.

The hotel itself was fine, it was however is a part of town that you would not have felt comfortable walking around in at night. Very convienent to the train station, but I might suggest you stay closer to the next stop further south, which is in the new part of town.

Good hotel for a stay near the train station. We used it for a bed between trains. Very late arrival and hotel room was waiting for us. If situation dictated, I would be fine staying there again.

The hotel is simple but clean and with very friendly stuff. Although it's very close to Princepe station (less then two minutes walk), it's a bit frightening envorionment during dark hours (OK for groups, not recomended for singels).

Nice hotel, well located near centre. The hotel is more suitable for summer times. A little chilly. In decoration and temperature. Great balcony. The room was not that clean. A late arrival at the breakfast meant out of bread...

The Hotel Galata was withing walking distance from the train station so this was so convenient. Great location, the service was very good and there was an excellent seafood restaurant right beneath our room. The rooms are small but that is typical in Italy. We have no complaints, it was a great value priced hotel.

Overall my experience of this particular hotel was very positive. The location for me was perfect as I knew I would be making use of the train station, which was literally around the corner from the hotel. Everything that I wanted to see, in my very brief stay, was within walking distance, again perfect for me, as I love to walk and really get a feel for the city. In particular, Antonio of the hotel Galata, made things easier for me as he spoke very good English to my more limited Italian. Would definitely return to Genoa and this hotel.

Good quality hotel, well located in the centre of Genova but prices a little too high for the quality of rooms and furnitures..Genova is a way too expensive, we found 4 stars hotels for less than 75€/night as we pay for Galata

Galata is quiet but well located near Principe Station and walking distance from the city centre and port. Staff were welcoming and very helpful. Provided a city map, advice on places to go and internet access. Corridors & public space were attractive & light and bed room was spacious and clean. Would definitely go there again.Stayed as part of a 3 week trip round Europe- this was one of the two best hotels I used.

We (my husband and me, 29 and 30 years old) were travelling to the Alps, and Genova was a little stop in our tour. Despite the city was awful (at least the neighbourhhod we visit) the hotel is much better. Staff very friendly, correct breakfast. The room was little but enough, clean. The conditioned air is too noisy, and if you have it on all night maybe you'll get awake a few times.

We stayed for 8 nights at a double room at the hotel. We are very satisfied. The main thing is that the staff is extremely friendly, polite and helpful. Not only were they so during our whole stay in Genoa, but they actually went out of their way to help us when we had difficulties with leaving Genoa because of the strike on the railways. Other advantages are that the hotel is 2 min walk from Genoa's main train station, and that there is a computer with free internet access in the lobby, which may be used for indefinite time. The rooms are provided with all essentials, including a small fridge. Several of Genoa's major attractions are also within short walking distance: Palazzo Principe, Palazzo Reale and Castello d'Albertis (recommended!) Another kind of attraction nearby is Genoa's colourful immigrant quarter with the famous trading street, Via Pre, being next street to the hotel. Regular shopping streets are not far away either. The breakfast at the hotel is continental, which may not be enough for those who are used to eating a lot in the morning, but this is quite common in Italy.
