Hotel Columbus Sea - Genoa

A very satisfactory one-night stay. The staff had sufficient English to deal with our needs and were very pleasant and efficient. Breakfast was included in our room rate and was plentiful and of good quality. We booked this hotel as we chose to prioritise the free parking (secure and easy to access) and air-conditioning (effective and controllable) above 'character'. The walk to Genoa Old Town took us about 30 minutes along the port side and was manageable if rather noisy. We entered the old town by walking along Via di Pre which had a slightly edgy feel and would not be appealing after dark! Do be aware that the hotel is directly alongside the ferry terminal and that ferries run late into the night which may affect light-sleepers. Our only criticism would be that, despite our room being 'non-smoking', there was a strong smell of stale smoke which suggested it had not always been thus!

Prescindendo che Genova è un porto di mare, l'hotel in questione potrebbe pure investire in pulizie visto che è sporco da fare invidia alle favelas. Senza contare la fila alla mattina per la colazione! Lasciate stare!!!!

I found a very bad surpise in the shower: besides the extremely hot water, the shower gauge was a mere 3 inches away from a poorly insulated AC power outlet. Extremely dangerous!!

Facile da raggiungere, parcheggio non a pagamento come tanti o forse tutti in genova,struttura spartana ma comunque comoda.locazione accanto al porto, quindi un paio di km dall'inizio del centro storico e un pò di più dall'acquario.

Stay in Genova for the boattrip to Corsica. Good hotel fair price

No green area around - the hotel is just betwee two main roads - noisy. Restorant is closed all day long (except Morning) - to eat you have to walk 200 m. away. Internet is not free.

Bus stop and subway are about 400m from the hotel. Close and easily access from highway.

Bar facilities in Lobby unavailable (closed) and lack of in-hotel facilities. First Stay and overnight due to early cruise check-in on next day.

Hotel was very nice but room had smokey odor to it. Location at ferry dock, also near mall with supermarket. Walking the area at night did not make me feel very safe. Large room with sitting room for price of double good value for money.

Hotel is much furhter away from city than believed, bar and restaurant were closed

I enjoyed my stay and would also come back. Breakfast is good and people were friendly. The rooms would need some refreshings, especially because of the carpets.

I chose this hotel since I was leaving early the next morning on a ferry to Corsica. For that situation, the Columbus Sea is perfect since it's walking distance to the ferry terminal. To reach the centro storico of Genova, however, you need to take a bus - which is not real convenient. The hotel also lacks an evening restaurant, though an excellent pizzeria is nearby.

Although the hotel staff were fine and the restaurant food excellent, the web site description of the location is entirely misleading. Genoa is not known for its beauty but to locate a 4 star hotel in an area rife with prostitution and in the filthy commercial dock area is somewhat idiotic. Sadly the Columbus Sea would not rate more than 2 to 3 stars in my book. I shall not be staying there again.
