Hotel old charm , conveniently located near the old town. l had a quiet and good night. But, 90 euros, for a small single room on sixth floor with peeled wallpaper , is a bit expensive,

We stayed for 2 nights and were impressed with the size and cleanliness of the bedroom and bathroom. There was a safe in the room and the room was cleaned daily. Great value for money and quite cheap. Breakfast in the dining room was excellent. The staff had good English Free WiFi. Would stay here again. Good acess to the city of Brignole. We caught the train to the old city and came home the scenic way by bus. Cafes and shops very close including McDonalds which was increadibly busy! We are from Australia.

Booked 2 rooms one double, very nice and well appointed, one single quite disappointing (ceiling scaling due to water leakage, rather old fashioned bathroom) in view of the price difference between both. Aside from that, not only would I highly recommend this hotel (its excellent location, the kindness of staff, the superb breakfast akin to that in top-rated asian hotels) but I will stay there again when returning to Genova.

A grand old hotel in the heart of Genova. Short walk to train station and old city area. Great breakfast, they even had champagne. Huge room and bathroom with good water pressure. Definitely would stay again!!

Very spacious room, very friendly and helpful personnel, excellent breakfast. A little tricky to find our way in the city centre of Genova; when arriving at the hotel, park your car on the foothpath at the hotel entrance, the hotel personell will park your car in their garage (only € 25 and we were allowed to leave the car in the garage the whole day after checking out, without paying extra).

I have stayed at Bristol Palace 3 times as a single traveller and am utterly impressed with the rooms. Beautiful, individual and original furnishings. Such a refershing change from the identikit modern hotels. Huge windows and doors opening onto a small balcony from where one can watch the bustle from via XX septembre below. I look forward to returning.

This is an old hotel and it shows. What may have been quite grand in its day is no longer. The rooms are tired, the beds rock hard (although they looked relatively new), the sheets so old they had holes in them. The heating system rattled all night even though the system was off, keeping us awake. On the positive, brreakfast was quite elaborate and the location is very central. Still I won't be back

Got the largest hotel room I've ever been in, about 50 square meters (!!), and paid 30% less than the price quoted on Venere! Parquet floors, two balconies, large bathroom with bubble bath tub, 5 meters to the ceiling, grand old furniture - amazing! Obviously, the hotel was VERY grand in its time, but now shows signs of aging, with concrete chipping off the balconies, scratches in the furniture, oxidised mirrors... Obviously worn, but charming. :-) Ideally located within a few hundred meters of the old town, and inside the shopping disctrict. Despite double windows, the noise from the large street outside (Via XX Septiembre) was a bit annoying in the morning, but with a room like this, and at the price (120 Euros) I didn't mind. :-) Think of it as a classic 4-star hotel that's a bit worn and tired, but still great. I'd certainly go back here!

We traveled to Genoa purely for a short getaway and to visit the aquarium. According to other reviews, this hotel seemed to fit our needs. We were very disappointed start to finish! This hotel does not have it's own parking, rather a public lot 2 blocks away. Upon checking in, the room we had reserved was not available and we had to wait for them to prepare another "suitable" room for our family. Other reviewers claimed to have spacious rooms with jacuzzi baths....our room was tiny and extremely hot! The thermostat didn't work properly, and the windows could not be opened fully to allow a breeze. The sheets were made of linen and had an accompanying card on the bedside table explaining the benefits of sleeping on this fabric; however, my entire family felt them to be itchy and certainly not a luxury to sleep on. The "fantastic" breakfast buffet was little more than the typical meat and cheese and brioche, and certainly left us hungry for our trip to the aquarium. The only perk of staying at this property was the ability to buy attraction tickets at the desk instead of having to cue for them.

I was travelling with two friend, we stayed in a room for three persons. Our room was really huge, and very nicely furnished. The hotel was renovated recently,in an "old" beautiful style. The breakfast offered a wide range of food and was really delicious. The hotel is near to the Old Town. The guys from the reception recommended some very good restaurants nearby. The valet parking was not working always very sufficient, once we had to wait 45 min. to get our car. Without this valet parking incident it would have been a perfect stay. The next time I am in Genua I will defenitely stay again in this beautiful hotel.

A lovely hotel, well decorated and maintained. Great breakfast. I often stay in single rooms and the Bristol has one of the nicest I've stayed in (large, clean, etc.). My recommendation for improvement would be to start air conditioning earlier in the season: if it's a hot day you don't want to open the windows because the street traffic can be pretty intense.

It was expensive, but I wanted the last night of our honeymoon to be at a nice hotel and didn't want to take chances. It was definitely a nice place. The room was HUGE, and the bed was larger than a standard king. We had a jacuzzi bath, but it was so shallow that it really wasn't too great. There was a little terrace which would have been nice on a warmer night, though the view was just the building next door. The problem here was the service. The bell hop was very helpful, and the initial check-in went smoothly with relatively friendly staff. But when we needed a restaurant recommendation later in the evening and we stopped by the desk for assistance on our way out, we were treated like we were invisible. Multiple Italians cut in front of us in line and were helped even though the woman at the desk had seen us and knew we were waiting first. We had to vocally demand assistance in order to get helped, which really was not right. The hotel is not close enough to the train station to walk with luggage. It's not a bad walk without bags. (Check the train stations though - there are two, Principe and another one tht I can't remember the name of. It's closer to the other one than Principe.) You'll need a cab to the airport. Be wary of the desk clerks calling you a cab for the airport. They did that for us and told us the cost would be about 25 or 30 euros. It turned out to be 56 euros. I suspect the desk clerk knew this when he arranged it for us. The location of the hotel was good. We were right near sights, including Christopher Columbus's house, and restaurants. Also, for those longing for a taste of home, it's right next to a McDonald's. I probably would not stay at the Bristol Palace again due to the price. The poor service at the desk was very annoying at the time, but I suspect it would not be all that much better at other hotels, since I think it was more of a cultural difference than a hotel-specific issue. If you can get a deal

The room was extremely large and very nicely decorated--as well as the hotel in general. The stair case, ending with a beautiful stained glass roof, was so beautiful that a photo is now part of our collection. The venere.com price allowed us to enjoy this luxury!!! The location is good--within walking distance of many sites. The public bus system in Genova was exceptional as well. There is a public bus stop only half a block from the hotel--which allows easy access to the airport, train stations, etc. Genova is a good "base" from which to take day train trips to other cities as well. The only small negative was the noise from the air conditioner when the room temperature was set low. We were able to adjust the A/C to a level where the noise subsided. But, had the outside temperature been high--the choice might have been cool air vs noise. Also, the "free" continental in-room breakfast actually came with a delivery charge of 10 Euros. Had we understood, we could have gone to the breakfast room and had a continental breakfast at no charge (we think). Many, many things in Genova were closed on Monday--the hotel staff might have volunteered that information to visitors who were obviously tourists. Most of the staff did speak some English--for which we were very grateful. This hotel was a jewel--especially when we saw some of the other hotels that we almost selected.
